Eather quiet or noisy is depending on the restaurant. when you eat at a quiet restaurant people tend to be quiet. When you eat at a very noisy restaurant people tend to talk laud. So in my opinion although you and your girlfriend are superior foreign tourists you do not have to be noisy when everyone else in the restaurant is quiet. And you happened to sit next to an old man who likes talking to people it doesn't mean every Japanese is the same. Do not generalize us Japanese.

I also lived in the United States,when I was a high school student. After all, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do.” Since childhood, Japanese have been taught to behave in public places and not to speak loudly in such a place. That ethnicity means that they don't like to cause trouble to people around them. There are people who want to quietly think and enjoy their meal alone, and it's not unpleasant just because they're eating against the wall, and even if they're eating with friends and family, they may seem too quiet for a foreign people, but they talk a lot. We’re just doing it quietly so that it doesn't bother people around us. I live in Tokyo, too, and over the past few years, the number of foreign tourists has increased tremendously, and I feel both good and bad. I want to live normally, but there are so many tourists now. So it happens I couldn't enter the store, and I couldn't spend time quietly in public places... and it was more difficult for people who lived normally in the local area to live. However, I look at the tourists who like Japan and are interested in it with a warm heart. You may not know much about Japan or the Japanese in about two weeks, but most Japanese are tolerant, kind and helping tourists. I think the person next you who was eating got interested in you. And I think he wanted to tell you how to eat Japanese food. Tokyo is certainly a busy city. However, as you have experienced, it is a city with many beautiful parks and new and old things coexist. There are many shrines and parks in the city, keeping the Japanese at peace. They are people who value modernization and history. I think it will be fun to experience historical places and festivals also. Thank you for visiting Japan. Come back again with your girlfriend!! Also Thanks to visit teamLab which my son’s company working as an engineer .

I enjoyed your videos at the beginning, what drew me in was your wonderment of Tokyo and seeing how different it is from the West. My wife and I go to Japan every year, our favourite country so far. As your series went by it changed, you seemed stressed more and more especially after meeting up with your friend and his Uncle, I saw tension there that never went away, perhaps a solo trip would have worked better. The last video clearly showed no enjoyment, only stress, not sure what other people here in the comments are seeing but it was anything but enjoyment. Mocking the name of Takeshita street and being upset with the older man at the Sushi place over nothing then ranting incoherently as you push through the crowds was bizarre. Your continued use of a camera on trains and in restaurants while braying loudly is cringe worthy, I can see in the future, cameras being banned in more places because of this sort of behaviour. Also, If you’re sick, try wearing a mask as not to infect everyone around you. Appreciate that in good old London, the subways are dirty, the restaurant prices are insane and that you can be stabbed to death on the street by thugs for wearing an expensive watch.
@OliBarrettTravel
@OliBarrettTravel Месяц назад
I disagree that it was an incoherent rant about the man in the sushi restaurant. I was thinking aloud, exploring culture differences. This video was on the back of 14 full days back to back, filming and travelling with no days off. You’re good to spot the tension with the uncle haha. The channel is about me being totally real and authentic. Not everything is always going to be perfect, as it is in most 15-min long “Japan is the greatest” videos. I only wish I could capture the feeling of my first day in Tokyo and have experienced the same every day. Unfortunately, that’s not possible.

I'm in my 30s living in Yokohama, but I've never been to TeamLab. So that's what I mean. Kanagawa prefecture (Yokohama or Kamakura) is more relaxed than Tokyo, and I would recommend Saitama prefecture (Kawagoe) or something like that. Each can be explored in about a day. If you are in Tokyo, go to the ginkgo trees in Meiji Jingu Gaien in the fall. There are many highly rated curry restaurants in that area. In spring, I go to Meguro River and Shinjuku Gyoen. This is so-called “hanami,” or cherry blossom viewing.

As a Japanese, I am interested in what impression foreigners have of Japan. I think they get the impression that Japanese people are distant and stuffy. I often feel that Japan is stuffy, too. It is somewhat better to be in a rural area than in the middle of a city. Japan has good food, low cost of living, and is safe. But it is a country with a declining birthrate and no future. However, around the 1980s, some terrible kidnapping incidents occurred. Since many Japanese people are anxious,the following idea has become widespread: ``If you talk to someone you don't know, they might think you're suspicious.''As a result, the current situation has arisen. I also sometimes feel envious of a culture where people feel free to talk to people they don't know.

There are many manners that even Japanese people find annoying, and it's almost impossible to learn all about the culture of a new country before you go. I'm glad that the number of foreigners from overseas has increased rapidly recently, but I think everyone is probably worried. I think Tokyo is a very special place in Japan. Because people are physically close to each other and it becomes difficult to secure personal space, give-and-take occurs. As a result, I feel that we have come to respect each other as individuals. As someone who finds interpersonal relationships bothersome, this kind of atmosphere actually makes me feel comfortable. Although Japanese culture tends to emphasize cooperation, there are many people who feel that individual freedom should be respected. The coldness of the city isn't all bad :) Japanese people may not show their emotions much. But often it is based on the desire to live comfortably with each other. I'm thinking hard about how I can tell the other person without being rude. If you ever come to Japan again, please enjoy it!

I have lived in Shanghai before, and when I take public transportation, I often strike up conversations with strangers. That's not the case in Japan. Shared taxis, like the ones in China, are not common in Japan. Chinese and Korean people are more direct in expressing their intentions to others. Japanese people, on the other hand, are not very comfortable with expressing their own intentions.In China, you might find shop attendants knitting or playing cards while at work. In Japan, it's strictly prohibited for employees to play during work hours. Even within Asia, the rules can vary significantly.Seriously, this guy is a foreigner and can eat anything.

I enjoyed watching your video. I live in the countryside, so I get very tired when I go to Tokyo. Seeing how stressed you are made me want to recommend Japan, a country rich in nature. However, there is a dilemma: in the countryside, there are few people who speak English, public transportation is underdeveloped, and there is a cash culture, so it will be a tough journey. I would be happy if even just scratching the surface of Japan, the cultural differences, for better or worse, were a rich experience for you! Oh, in the countryside, the only place you can get coffee is 7-Eleven lol

I'm 19. I love watching your videos. I think Japanese culture is different from other countries' but not bad😂 You might be tired... The person who teaches you at sushi restaurant is not bad. I believe you should not believe people who tell you "what you did is bad in Japan"etc. especially on the Internet. And they are not almost youth. On the other hand, you should believe people who teach you the right things. People who talk to foreigners in real life generally do so with a good conscience. First, there are few people in Japan who talk to foreigners. Sorry for my bad English. Anyway I hope you come to Japan!! From Tokyo.
