Hey, congratulations! Hold on tight, because things will change, as you already know. But you are level-headed, positive, ethical and energetic. You have the tools to do this. You guys will grow as rapidly as the baby does, and you will have friends and family to help out as you go. As we say in the hiking world, the trail will provide. This will be a lifelong, whole-mind, all-encompassing experience, but you will be living life to the fullest, and it will be rich and beautiful. Girls love outdoors too. My daughter glows when she talks about camping and hiking. She was 7 years old when she popped my shoulder back in its socket backpacking on AT Trail.

Defo go with the ski first - easy for them to get going and for everyone to have fun. We switched ours to snowboarding (3 kids, 1 kid per year) from when the oldest was around 9 or 10.
That's definitely what I've heard- just a bit easier to learn and enjoy sooner. I started with skiing when I was young too! So awesome you get out there as a family! Gets me even more excited about this next chapter!

Congratulations! Kids are what its all about. All my kiddos enjoyed the outdoors. I remember my first born we took camping. I had a car topper we’d take off car roof. We placed blankets inside and baby was safe trying to crawl around. After a few years he could walk and talk. We were in a camp ground and he said “dad I have to pee”. I said “ok.” Well I didn’t mean on the dirt road! So I learned a lot raising children. They taught me to communicate. Hahaha 🤣! Kiddos are spectacular! Enjoy everything. Don’t sweat the small stuff, it’s all small stuff!
I’m so proud of my kiddos. They all grew up to be wonderful people. Full of life and love ❤️. Two are raising families plenty of grandchildren. One is in the Navy keeping us all safe and making a career out of it. Oh and I have stories about them all. Stories to be told around a campfire at night! Woo Hoo! My granddaughter is going to get a sleeping from Poppa for the first time. See you around the campfire 🔥.
Congratulations! Your biggest adventure of your entire life - most difficult challenge + most rewarding + scariest/exciting/happy/sad rollercoaster ride is coming. Congratulation to both of you! I have a friend that reminds me of you- she rock climbs, ice climbs, hike, bikes, skis and snow baords. She and her husband had their child out as soon as he could walk. He is now 4 and loves the outdoors. Best wishes to you as you prepare for this next chapter in your life.
Huge Congrats. Just wanted to add, honestly we felt the same before our daughter was born. I was thinking that we wouldn't be able to do another thru-hike until she was 10 years old or so. Then fast forward a few months and we were taking her on her first thru-hike at 6 months old. Obviously it's slower, heavier and different, but honestly so amazing to share the experience with kids. Spending time outdoors and Thru-hiking really helped me become the parent that I am. So don't panic you won't have to wait years before your next trip. ☺️

Congrats. Gramma Dorothy was very excited for you. She let the cat out of the bag weeks ago over such great news. Life will change. You two now will have to think about being cautious as you need to be there for the little one. Take care.
Congratulations!!! Being a girl mom is so fun and my oldest (2.5) already loves hiking and camping and we are getting her into snowboarding a little this year! I have two daughters! 💙
