Agreed. Indoors in a controlled environment and a straight flat surface doesn’t convince anyone of how good the club is. Real life scenarios is a different story.
Maybe not an entirely new concept, but this is a much more extreme design than the original curved-face Teardrop putter. And patents only last 20yrs in the US.
I am sooo glad to see this! I have always thought that using the leading edge of my wedge gives me a better role on my putts. Glad to see im not the only one. Gonna get me one
It’s quite clear on the video, you pulled the 9 footer. No putter could have saved you from that. So not the putter’s fault. This is not really original. Teardrop made Roll Face Putters decades ago. Do you remember Ram Putters? I have a Ram shaped putter made by Bettenardi, designed by Teardrop with a roll face with grooves similar to this putter. It’s visually stunning in my opinion with absolutely first class build and puts an end over end roll on the ball every time. This idea really works. Rick, put it in your bag is my advice. You might find it runs a bit further, as it rolls the ball right from the start instead of skid and roll but you will get used to that after a while and adjust your backswing length to compensate. Give it a real go. I think you will love it.
Can you please test the Cleveland smart sole wedges, they just came out with a lob wedge and it’s pretty great. the Hy-wood is also amazing Cleveland needs some HIT love!
I forgot my putter once and played a round putting with my 56. Really enjoyed the feel! But sometimes caught it off angle obvs! Very intrigued by this…
My golf buddy sometimes putts with his Wedge - hitting the ball with the edge of his Wedge. This happens when he is in a hurry with golfers behind us ! He normally rolls the ball better than me with my normal putter - when he is near the hole - he normally gets a " gimmie " but if not he finishes off really well and holes it with the wedge !! ???? Love to try this - I have a crazy theory that you need different putters on different holes - and some times two putters one for Lag putts (Blade) and another (Mallet ) for close in ? This is getting more crazy - would defo like to hear more about this putter ! Thanks !
Rick, I wrote you off 3 months ago. Yet, your last three rounds with Langer and Pete were some of the best golf you’ve videoed. I hope we hear what changes you’ve made?
I assume it works because it doesn't lift the ball, like putters with 4 degree loft. That combination of hitting the center of the ball, but it not breaking contact with the surface starts it rolling immediately. However, its reliant on a consistent lie on a consistent surface. Different lies will make the ball react differently. Using it on artificial surfaces is no test
seems like it's minimizing the "skid" phase of the putt when you hit the ball above the equator line. with the added "up" angle, it does seem like it would roll pretty good out of the gate. interesting!
Very interesting concept to be honest.. When you pure a putt with a wedge it does feel good! When you take out the unpredictability of where you strike the ball it must be nice
I am in agreance with many here, take it to the outdoors and try this thing out! On different breaking putts, uphill/dowhile, speed control... from off the green how does it work ? There maybe something to this new idea.
I’ve been using a “lag shot” 7 iron for the past few months in my home simulator and it has made a BIG difference to my game. Can you do a review on them? I reckon it’s an amazing training aid. Thanks.
Putting with a wedge is actually a good drill as it forces you to be quiet with your stroke. Catch it too low and you pop the ball up and catch it too high and the ball doesn't go anywhere.
Fair play to the company for designing it. It was the same when lab putters came out, they were and still are a weird looking putter but amazing to put with. This one could be the next big thing for the perfect roll. Gotta test it on the course Rick. Give a 9 hole stroke play test.
i’m curious how it rolls on long putts where you gotta put some steam behind it. I don’t like to forward press with my Scotty, but if I don’t on long putts it tends to skid for quite some time before it begins to roll
Clever because it looks like it is easier to put a good roll on the ball. I have a tendency to hit down on my putts from time to time which puts back spin on the ball. Also this would surely be better for those putts when the fringe is behind the ball.
I'm forever grateful for people raising awareness of what's out there, but instead of all this free stuff you get to review just sitting gathering dust in a closet, why don't you do more giveaways? There are so many golfers out there who just can't afford all of the stuff that you make them drool over. After you've done your bit, other than that odd one that you want to stick in the bag, it's not like you need them for anything other than to show your mates how many golf clubs you've been given for free....
That's really interesting, I've an old tad moore hotblade that has a shamfared front lower edge allowing to angle the putter face down slightly almost the same as this. I get laughed at coz it's old but it works!!
Ricky Fowler does something to get the same effect, he will float his putter right before he strokes the putt and hits center of the ball with a semi upstroke. This just takes having to float your putter out of the problem (I have tried to float it but wobble lol) By By bouncy putts
Rick you should do a proper test put it in your bag for a few days ....maybe have the big grips set too and see how you game is dont be afraid of change ;p
Just to be clear, with lines on the ground it's impossible to miss. I've drawn that conclusion from training on my putting mat where everything always rolls into "center cup" up to 12-14 ft. Unfortunately, it doesn't translate to normal, unmarked greens. I would have preferred seeing you putt with no markings. Perhaps going forward?
@@Bech285Even Rick can miss with this. He pulled the 9 footer. I have one and it works amazingly well once you've grooved your stroke to control distance. You still have to read slope and breaks, but a flat green /no breaker and you're the Boss O' The Moss.
You missed the biggest benefit Rick!! That design would clearly work better off the green (collar or rough) because the bottom is so sloped. And since you like to putt from the collar......
@@TG-mt6ke I know & agree, but the way that rolled for him can only make it better judging by this video, would certainly like to see it used for 18 holes.
