I sewed coordinating dresses for my daughter and me for our yearly family photos using vintage 70s patterns that we gifted to me. I don't often sew vintage clothes for everyday but these dresses were too cute to pass up!

Well, those dresses took me right back to my 70s childhood. They both came out lovely.

You both look amazing. In the late sixties my mum would make my aunt (only 10 years older than me) and I matching dresses. I thought I was the bees knees! Sometimes my doll would be matching too 🐝😊

I love both those dresses especially your daughters only because it made me think of the dresses I made for my daughter and it made me all sentimental( and I’m getting old!).

Back in the early 70's my Mum knit us ponchos. Unfortunately they were done in acrylic and we wore them in summer, but I loved them so much. My Mum's was blue & white, my big sister's was brown and white, mine was purple and white. Absolutely fabulous work. You both look so lovely. Well done. And she likes it! The stabilization triangles at the pocket corners are brilliant. Thank you, I am so stealing this... You have a dress pattern for sale... you need to put the link to it in the description, please and thank you. That's amazing... For what it's worth - I once knew a guy who installed a clock radio under his baby's bed. He'd leave the radio tuned to CBC (the national news network in Canada) and leave it ever so softly playing in the background. He claimed it worked? His theory was the kid would adapt to noise? I dunno; I've reached the stage in my middle-aged life I'm referring to as "Professional Auntie" in which people just randomly share their parenting tricks... - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

Thank you, and thanks for the reminder ;) it's up now! She does have a noise machine in her room but my sewing room is right across the hall and I knew she probably wasn't asleep just yet.

Both dresses worked out wonderfully. You have a knack for choosing fabric and knowing how that will end up looking. I like the full length sleeves.

Reminded me of the 70s as a small child. Was fun to watch your sewing journey. I used to sew matching mother and daughter Goth outfits for my youngest and I. Two years ago I made matching Granny, daughter and grandson Goth outfits.

So lovely. 70s was still mini-skirt territory. You could probably hem your dress a bit more, if you wanted. Thank you for the video!

this may sound odd, but I am really glad you are keeping your daughter's anonymity by blurring her face. The dresses came out great!

Thanks, despite posting public videos I tend to be a pretty private person. My kid can decide when she's older if she wants an online presence of her own or not.

When you were snipping the neck on your daughter's dress - what was the contraption you used? And I love the fabric you chose for both dresses!
@DixieDIY

It's some kind of dentist's tool I got from a friend. It has short but sharp blades which are good for snipping. Thanks!
