The Gasoline Shot:
1 Part Tequila
1 Part Southern Comfort
Flaming Bag of Gasoline:
In a shaker
.5oz or 15ml. Lime Juice
.5oz or 15ml. Simple Syrup
.5oz or 15ml. Jack Daniel's Tennessee Fire Whiskey
1oz or 30ml. Southern Comfort
2oz or 60ml. Fortaleza Blanco Tequila (could sub with Jose Cuervo 1800 Silver)
Add crushed ice to the shaker
Shake and open pour into glass
For fire boat:
Lime half
Crouton
Lemon Hart 151
Cinnamon

Modern cars are stupid, Nowadays if your fuel injector doesn't work quite right a computer tells your car not to turn over. WHEN I WAS A KID, if the carburator went out, the smallest kid who had good enough balance sat in the engine bay dropping gasoline into the engine while we drove up to the mechanic shop, and that's why this drink is called the rusty carburator, and it can be made with, or without the alcohol.

It used to be every year I would go to North Myrtle and drive through dirty Myrtle with all of my family at the same time every year, around end of June beginning of July hot as hell no one knows why we kept doing this same date, most dumbass thing we've done, but one year my mom decided she was just tired of it she was tired of the same old dirty hotel, the same old overcrowded beach, the same way too busy highway, so she decided we're going to stay on Pawleys Island at Litchfield, well we've been doing it for 3 years now and just came back from our vacation this year and holy hell I've not been in Myrtle Beach proper for 3 years until last week, *what happened* it used to be just white trash dump but now it's **all** ghetto like "oh, i need a gun" level ghetto. Horry County what happened?

A technical correction - the ransomware attack didn't shut down the pipeline. The company shut down the pipeline because they were worried they wouldn't be able to bill properly.

the most maddening thing about this whole ordeal is that the ransomware attack didnt effect the pipeline at all, it was simply their billing system, they could've easily continued production and transport they just chose not to.

Right sure that’s why they had to waste millions more paying people to fly and drive up and down the pipeline to monitor it even while off the ransom ware clearly only affected billing not the highly sensitive complex network of censors that allow the pipeline to function.

@@FoolOfATuque No it couldn't have, because thats not how Ransomware attacks work, the pipeline would've just *shut down* like they did themselves. Its not like a ransomware attack actually gives the hackers anything, all it does it shut down the system. I would assume, that if they were dumb enough to have any kind of their pipeline or pump systems able to be accessed all that would happen is that the pumps would stop working and anything in the pipeline would stop moving or start backfilling. Its not even like it would be jam in the pump that would generate pressure from low flow, it would just stop.

"When you're filling a jug, *ground* it." Greg is 100% correct. The reason the metal of your car doesn't ground is you have rubber tires insulating the car from being ground. Your car is a large faraday cage and wants nothing more than to use you as a ground to discharge static. Also, I did not suggest this, but tupperware that is made from polyethylene polymer (look for PE or 3 in the recycle symbol) can safely transport gasoline in the short term. Any long term storage you want a proper container.

Also, to add the reason you don't want to use most Tupperware is the plastic degrades in the solvent that is petroleum. Not only are you destroying the container risking spilling, you are mixing plastic particulates into your fuel that damage your engine much like cells sticking in blood vessels and causing clots. Source: 7 years in the petroleum industry, 4 years in plastics.

The ransomware attack did not shut down the pipe line. It made it impossible to tell who was using how much gas, and instead of giving away free gas or estimating based on past use, they chose to shut it off.

Pro Tip: learned this from Cook’s Illustrated. When you make your 2:1 simple syrup let it simmer on the stove for like 10 minutes after it goes clear. store it in the fridge and it won’t crystallize for a good long while. Actually works.

To check sugar content in a liquid, you'd need a Brix meter. They start at under $20, and I found one super handy when playing around with frozen drinks.

Drinking the news is great, as is this drink. Made some tonight and it is amazing how well you can taste the different parts. The lime and cinnamon notes surprised me how well they work together. Fun drink and more in line with my wife's taste than something more "classic"

Oooh, drinking the news sounds fun. Totally low hanging fruit, short shelf life of relevance... but if it doesn't interfere with your more substantial episodes, I'd be here for it.
