Hello again!
Ever wanted to make an enormous amigurumi, or a colossal crochet? Well this week I show you what happens when you make the same pattern with 1 strand of yarn, two strands, or 4 strands. The results are HUGE!
Leave me a comment with the biggest thing you've ever created.
Filming and editing is still a learning process for me, but I'm having a blast. I'll be back next Thursday with a new design challenge, so subscribe if you don't want to miss it!
The pattern is available here:
complicatedknots.etsy.com
Or you can get access to my patterns as they are published through my
Patreon: / complicatedknots
Or join me on instagram so I can see your creations too!

1:12 Yeah, yarn is constantly striving to increase its entropy. Like the universe. Left unattended, all our yarn would probably devolve into black holes of undisentangleability! xD

These are all just absolutely adorable! I love the "mane", and the queen's yellow eyeliner, and the size comparison! If I put heaps of comments, will that push this to the top of everyone's suggestions?? Because you and the bees deserve it!

Hello, I found your channel on RU-vid today and saw a video about a huge bumblebee and then I remembered that I bought a scheme like this from you on Etsy🤩. I also really liked the dinosaurs and dragon in an egg patterns, I will definitely crochet myself one. Greetings from Ukraine!

I am amazed at what you are able to design and create. I just love these bees. Amigurumi is my favorite to crochet. But doubt I could work with so many skeins of yarn at one time successfully. Huge fan of your channel.🥰

Im in love! She is so beautiful! She and her minion bees! This is so great! I have to buy your bumblebee and make myself both smaller ones and a big one too. They look so well made and realistic. And I took a look at your other pattern too, and the praying matis! Like, omg! How can one live without a praying mantis in their life?! :D So glad I found you today!

Love your work.🥰 I thought how you strung your yarn like it was on a sewing serger was brilliant 👍🏽 Also, the progressing size of the bees is as if one bee is flying toward you. You will see more details as it gets closer. Nice.👍🏽

They’re all so cute! So when trying to make something a lot larger like that do you need to change the pattern at all or just using more strands makes it that much bigger?
@ComplicatedKnots
@ComplicatedKnots 3 года назад
This should work for most (toy) patterns, assuming no special techniques, the pattern shouldn't need to be changed. This is because your proportion of yarn thickness to hook size stays the same, so all the maths is still correct 😄 Each strand you add makes it bigger - 2 strands = 2x the height, width, length. 4 strands = 4x.

Hi😍how many yarns you use for this bee?
@idlewildwind
@idlewildwind Год назад
Oh! You know what you could do? Since bees have compound eyes made up of tiny hexagons, you could use a very thin yarn and make -dozens- _hundreds_ of granny hexes to sew together into circles! Okay, never mind, that idea sounded better in my head. Put into words, it sounds like the most maddening project ever...

@ComplicatedKnots

Thanks! I think this was about 8 hours, over two days? It was definitely completed in a weekend. When made with just a single strand they only take about 4-6 hours, depending on how easily distracted you are...

Love the bee pattern, noticed you are crocheting it inside out, is that intentional? I like using chenille yarn for amigurumi, makes them bug and squishy and is easier on my hands
@jayne_dough97
@jayne_dough97 3 года назад
Also where do you get your curved needles for sewing?
@ComplicatedKnots
@ComplicatedKnots 3 года назад
@@jayne_dough97 I am self-taught, so didn't realise I was even doing anything weird. I've swapped to using the yarn-under method now which seems to have fixed it? The needles are just from my local craft store, and I swear by them for amigurumi! www.spotlightstores.com/sewing-fabrics/haberdashery/needles-pins/needles/semco-handcraft-needles--everyday-bargain/BP80401263
