I Made A Mistake... | 1990 Mazda Miata Won't Shift Gears CHECK Slave Cylinder and Pressure Plate! 

Just got done with a full clutch job including a new drive shaft. Took for forever but I did it in my driveway,alone, one my back. Oh did I mention that I am 69 years young and did it in the heat of Texas? Well if I can do it, by gosh you have no excuses not to baby your precious baby car. It deserves your love.

Update: after ordering a clutch kit, I can confirm that the piece matches up perfectly with the outer part of the throw out bearing. Originally I thought it was the pressure plate, but it in fact is a faulty throw out bearing!

Most of the time the metal/clinging noise is the throw out bearing. Probably blew and tore everything else up. My advice…use a better jack please. Would hate to see an accident.. keep up the good work great content.

Dude that's exactly what my cars doing... I recently have been ran off the road and I originally noticed that the body was knocked up and one of the tranny mounts was torn. Buttt I was still able to drive it. I hadn't noticed any problems with my shifting system other than it being tilted to the passenger side. Later though it started to do the exact same thing as yours and now I'm not sure about driving it but have to bc it's my daily driver. I had this exact same problem. I even had the exact same metal clanging sound that scared the life out of me 😅 I got a new clutch fitted and I believe that’s fixed the problem as the pressure plate is replaced at the same time. I think 💭

My car has the has the same symptoms except the noise when the clutch is in. Also did your clutch go straight to the floor or was there pressure?

I have the same issue it won’t go into gear when the car is on but the clutch is engaging I thought it was the cables or the master slave but you really think it is the throw out bearing and it locks itself in first gear won’t let me go out of gear please let me know if the throttle bearing was the issue message me on Insta eddiesantiago21
