The main problem is that the motors are too high up above the center of gravity, creating a force that constantly pushes the front of your hovercraft onto the ground Solution ideas: angle your motors upwards put them further down i know nobody cares, but thats why it always turns when trying to move forward

Maybe I'm overthinking this and probably you'll never experiment with overcrafts ever again, but you should move the props closer to the ground and to the sides in order to have more side to side torque and less top to bottom torque. Right now your props are driving the pumpkin into the ground. If you line up the two motors with the center of mass you should minimize the pitch motion.

8:28 So this is super late but we actually built ghetto hovercrafts in my intro to engineering course. The the way you made the skirt was setting yourself up for failure- by taping the sides without pinning down the middle, the skirt will naturally want to balloon up to a sphere with the air jets being at the very bottom. This creates the minimum amount of area possible between the air and the surface, generating very little lift. We found that securing the center while letting the sides still inflate will have it try and form something like a torus, which when set correctly creates one long continuous seal for the air to escape under evenly.

I love the music that plays when he's in a store. It's consistent throughout all his videos and feels like a little piece of William Osman lore

No one's gonna see this comment, but a couple years ago in school we built hovercrafts with leafblowers for the air supply. Ours was a five seater and the teacher organized races through the halls during classes. Teachers got pissed at all the noise so we only got two rounds into the tournament.
