I have attended a couple of 30 day silent Vipassana meditation retreats. What really stuck out to me in this video is when you said you had to stay in your room for 3 days and no sleep… That isn’t what they did in the retreats I attended but after so many days of 10 plus hours of meditation every day, I found that I needed virtually no sleep at all. It’s weird how that works and I’m sure there’s some kind of scientific explanation for it. Anyway, I enjoyed your video, you have a glowing personality. Thanks!
No sleep is natural state. I experienced it in my first Vipassana 10 day course in 2005 itself. right meditation preserve energy and hence sleep is not required if sufficient energy is available to body and mind.
There was me thinking my daily meditation streak on my app was impressive but this is on another level, well done Viola. I wanted to do a vipassana retreat this while i was in chaing mai at the temple on doi suthep but didn't realise i had to book way in advance....hopefully i can go and do one soon as i really want to test my mental fortitude and clear my mind.
a 26 day retreat is definitely mentally challenging haha, i think most people think i'm crazy! would highly, highly recommend doing a retreat if you can at least once in your life (even if it's only for 5 days!). i'll be interested to hear what your experience is like :)
This video just poppedd up in the best moment, it has gigen me some ideas to put on practice for sure. Thank you for your content 🤍The best wishes and huge hug from Uruguay 🫶🏻
@@violahelen_ It was tough but there were only three of us and the meals were so delicious, I have go admit i so looked forward to the dharma talks where we shared hassles in our lives. 26 days of 10 hours a day. That is amazing and this skill will pay huge dividends for you now!:)
hi! would you still recommend going immediately for the 26-day basic course (not a lot of experience with meditation beforehand/no retreats whatsoever)? X
