Quit My Job and Packed up my Car to move to the beach for a YEAR............. Ended up in Bluffton/ Hilton Head........ and that was 22 years ago now! No Regrets! (Parents and Brothers Family moved here as well since then) LOVE IT!!! Thanks for sharing how awesome this place is!!
Hello. Iowa native that migrated to the Piedmont area in SC. We travel to Lowcountry SC frequently. It is such an amazing place. There is something there that really resonates with me. Love the history, the Spanish Moss, the wildlife, food, people and historic buildings or locations. We hope to own a second home near the coast some day. Great video. Thanks!
I can always tell when someone has been out west for awhile or is from the west because they just can't get over the green lush trees. My nephew from CA came east for the first time last summer and I asked what was different and he said with a huge smile, "It's so gggrrreeenn".
Exactly. I've heard this so much from my son's wife & her family as they are from New Mexico & Arizona. My DIL (daughter in law actually insisted they get married here (NC) because she had never seen green trees/forest & she fell in love with it here!
Bluffton seems to have charm- especially with their houses and buildings throughout the town🏡⛪. Love the earrings! 💖There is a ton of History as well. Lily is so adorable in her red jacket and is ready to sniff everything!!! 🐕🌳🌴 Glad that you've enjoyed it there! Take care!!☕🍴🧡
We have lived in Bluffton since 2015 and there are so many fun treasures to find here! Its a great place to live and work! Hope you come visit again soon!
I moved to Bluffton in 1984 (it was not as populated as it is now) met my husband and raised our two children there. We lived in the May River area & could walk to the Bluffton beach (man made) or take the boat & head out to the local sand bar (a very popular weekend hang out). It is certainly a laid back place, nothing happens quickly LOL. Our son still lives there so we visit often. I know you love tree's - when we lived there we often visited the Angel Oak tree in Charleston SC. You would love it, it is magnificent. Thank you for sharing Bluffton and have a fantastic day !
Love your video! We just made our first visit to Blufton last Monday! It is absolutely one of the most charming places we've visited in all of our travels, and you just brought back many wonderful memories. We too were enthralled by that church. Stayed in the courtyard there across the street for a good half hour just soaking it all in. Spent the rest of the week exploring Hilton Head Island. So much to enjoy there with the incredible beaches, bike trails and boating to name a few. We'll definitely be going back!
I've always loved quaint small towns, and this one that you visited is no exception. I just couldn't deal with humid Summers in the south if I lived there. I think it's great that you support local business merchants and artisans in your travels. 👏🏼
Humid summers here are ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY brutal I can testify. I’m a little sick knowing I’ve got to take a butt kicking again this year coming up at the end of May through the end of October-ish✌️😓
The low country has its charms. We moved to Charleston from Atlanta 16 years ago. If you come here, you must see the Angel Oak! It might generate some tears.
I live in Bluffton. The scenic road you came into town on is May River Road/Hwy 46. I am a member of the historic church you viewed called The Church of the Cross. It is an extremely active church and church school with another campus several miles away.
I love all the places for artists to display their work! As soon as they have a cute bookstore, I'm in love and you'd have to drag me out of there, lol Pretty little town💗
Hi Amber... Concerning Lily. FreshPet dog food has a recall list that you might want to check out. Another RU-vidr I watch feeds it to her 3 small sized dogs and all three of them got seriously ill! Like, needed to be taken to the Vet and medicated kind of ill. Just wanted to give you a heads up on that one. We don't want Miss Lily getting sick :(
She was hesitant about eating it I noticed, I’m glad👏 you’re passing that on to others and letting them know. So many food recalls for pet food makes one want to make their own pets meals from scratch.
@@selfesteem3447 I have actively started researching doing this exact thing. When we cook organic wholesome food for our pets we are doing SO MUCH MORE for them in the long run. Just be responsible in researching the origin of the food you are preparing.
Thanks! Enjoyed the tour. Bluffton is quaint & beautiful. The "slats" at the top of the window are called a fan detail. The "crosshatch" is a lattice window, and the shutter holders are called shutter dogs. Happy exploring!
I love small towns. That one is sweet and has everything you need for enjoying the community. Wouldn't it be fun to own a little cottage there full of charm and character? Good base to explore other areas nearby too.
Hi Amber and Lilly love the town so beautiful I am learning so much about our America thank you Having COVID 19 I WAS DEPRESSED BUT WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS AND OTHERS HAS HELP SO MUCH THANK YOU GOD BLESS.
Yeah you was coming through pritchardville and then you hit Bluffton I live on All Joy Road right next to Calhoun Street where you are walking pretty cool to see my hometown on a RU-vid video I've been here for 30 years born and raised.
I just found your channel today. I have friends that live there. They love it! I have visited them several times. I bought my Class C Winnebago from them last November. Bluffton has a great farmers market every Thursday . A great breakfast place called Squat & Gobble. Love Bluffton!
I went to college in Bluffton at USCB! It's such a wonderful place to live. 30 minutes from Savannah, 30 minutes from Beaufort, less than 30 from Hilton Head, and only an hour and a half from Charleston! You simply can't beat it! I LOVE the Lowcountry! Great video, it was so nice seeing you enjoy the same places I once did. :) Cheers!
This not an "old town" at least not anymore. Bluffton is the shopping and dining area before hilton head island. Basically tourists central. It is over run with people moving here. They can't build fast enough...and facilities cant keep up.
You know they said the same exact thing t after they started rebuilding after it was burnt down during the civil war and after the artists all started to move in so on and so forth. It has been repeated generation after generation.
So crazy to see this in my reccomendation! I grew up in Sumter and Charleston! Bluffton is where rich people get married like Justin Bieber very nice! Reminds me of hilton head too!
Those trees are our state Palmetto Trees I know this as a born and raised South Carolinian or Sandlapper… we love all our beach cities…come to Beech Island for a lot of history at the Redcliffe Plantation😊. Love your videos💕
I live in Savannah. I used to drive thru and to Bluffton for work and I always loved it there. It's kinda like a beach town that's not at the beach. You were right down the road from some of the most expensive neighborhoods in the Southeast.
South Carolinian's will quickly point out to you that those are not "Palm" trees, they are "Palmetto" Trees. :) South Carolina is the "Palmetto State".
You should look up Kerr Lake in Henderson NC! My grandfather actually helped build it in the late 1940's early 1950's & it has amazing camp grounds & the lake is BEAUTIFUL! Over 49,000 acres & 850 miles of shoreline! We are proud of it & LOVE it! Happy, safe travels.
Gotta visit Daufuskie Island, can only get there by boat it’s in the vicinity of where you are in this video in South Carolina. Look it up if you would please and anyone can take this advice you would not regret it. There are luxury hotels and cabins. The Gullah people and the history. Hope you got to check out Palmetto Bluff as well, on the way from Savannah to Bluffton. Small but worth checking out. Great place to settle as well. I might find in this video that you did check it out, onto the video… 🌴 I didn’t see any footage of the beach in your Hilton Head video, Dogs are allowed on the beach. There are some particular hours during summer time for them✌️
At 16:29, I love the sound of birds singing! There is something so tranquil about that. I occasionally get to hear them while sitting on my back deck. My deck is built around a ginormous oak tree along with two other oak trees off the steps. Note: they need to be trimmed back quite a bit! LOL! But I love to hear the birds singing and the squirrels running around all up in the branches❣️❣️
OMGosh Amber! You’re in my neck of the woods! lol I’ve lived on Hilton Head for 30 yrs. I thought the picture of Sweet Lily from yesterday was a spot on HH. You showing the family having a picnic on the May River brought back great memories. My niece & I had many picnics in that same spot watching the sun set over the May River. The Church of the Cross was unlocked one time & we got to see the inside which is just as beautiful as the outside! They close Calhoun Street down on Thursdays for a farmer’s market. Sometimes they have entertainment & local artists creating their art. Hope you loved the Lowcountry as much as I do! It’s a special place! ❤️
I caught a 9 ft long black tip shark from the Calhoun dock at the end of the road when I was a kid skipping school..gosh those where the days 😂 we couldn't even get it onto the dock...
I lived in Bluffton for over 10 years. Just couldn't take the cold winters and all the landscape turning brown (I'm from South Florida , 😁). If you're moving from the north, you'll love it there. It's a beautiful place.
What a Lovely town you found 🥰🥰🥰. Lilly I enjoy watching you, I picture me walking my dog thru that beautiful town. Thank you Amber for sharing. Can’t wait to visit too soon. Much Love from NJ 🥰
A growing town with land for sale abound. Climate is like fall, spring, and summer with splashes of winter throughout the winter months. The corner perk you ate at is quite delightful. I have partook in an avocado wrap from there, and it was quite delicious. Another restaurant, with fresh ingredients, would be the Cahill's Market & Farmhouse Restaurant. Fresh ingredients made on the location. You can also buy items from their little market within the restaurant as well. It's a pristine setup with the City 20-30 minutes away and the beach 20-30 minutes away as well; with Amtrak, Greyhound, and the airport readily available within Savannah, GA. Nature settings are wondrous. The weather is like a daily hug. I am grateful for your time. God Bless, John German
I agree, let her sniff her heart out! :) They do enjoy it, and since they have to be leashed mostly everywhere, this allows them some fun despite the leash. You're a wonderful dog mom. :)
I did not want this video to end. Lovely area, Amber. I have a story to tell you about this area of the country plus a family, but too long to do it here.
So cool to see you visiting my home state! The Hilton Head/Bluffton area is a beautiful place, as is Charleston if you can take a visit there! Hope you have a great day :)
We're looking at Bluffton as a possible place to retire. We talked to a local who said they are building like crazy. One developer has allocated space for like 12,000 new houses and there is so much demand that they can't keep up. Houses are being sold at least a year out. Was told that the population could exceed 600,000. Still it is a good place for us to consider relocating to.
Ah how I miss my native land. I'm from up in Mt pleasant and miss it so. Haven't been home since the pandemic. Living on the west coast now but miss my lowcountry home
My former husband (and I) was stationed at Sumter Air Force base in Sumter ~ and his brother was at Charleston AFB at the same time. We were kids (barely 19), but loved exploring the Carolinas.
You must go up the road to Beaufort. It is a beautiful gem. It is a smaller, cleaner version of Charleston. there are lots of islands to explore there too.
These are quaint little places here in the south. Bugs, humidity, and in a few weeks real summer heat moves in. The spring can be so nice but we get real summer heat.
Its not so quaint. I live here an yes it is wonderful but it is spread out. Bluffton is not just Old Town. We have a lot of shopping, restaurants, car dealerships, golf courses, box stores, close proximity to the beaches of Hilton Head. Property values are going sky high but taxes are low. There is building everywhere but thats ok because it is good building. This area is a fantastic place and we welcome all.
Such a cute little town! Love old historic places like that. I've got one of those scarves too. I've only worn in a couple of times and it made my face itch. Ended up buying that no see um spray you suggested and my friend whose allergic like you tried it. It really helped him.
When Sherman military pushed the southern rebels back into the lowcountry this church was used as a hospital for Yankee and csa ..before they built up on Calhoun we used to find musket shot all over the place and even in the shell border that was once there..they tore it down years ago..it was so sad
It's condemned so I'll have to check out if it can be restored and if not knock it down and put up a tiny house. Make a little garden with all local plants and flowers. Make 1 parking spot for van lifers to rent out.
A beautiful place. Would love to visit during the cooler months of the year. The humidity and bugs would be hard for me to handle. I am very allergic to bug bites and l also don’t care for the chemicals, but they do work better than most things. I often spray the deet sprays lightly on my clothing instead of directly on my skin. So far it has worked and there hasn’t been any staining of my clothes. Love traveling vicariously with you and Lily!
You would enjoy Charleston, SC, during the spring when the historic homes are open (worth the cost of admission) and the gardens are in bloom. Take every tour you can and wander the streets in the historic area. You would learn a lot about the regional architecture and such. Also visit the plantations and gardens up river from there - again, well worth the admission cost. In addition, check out Beaufort, SC, which is even cuter than Bluffton (I think).
