I have a Sur-Ron X, (the same core bike) and a business opportunity - For some reason literally nobody makes blinker / brake light kits for these things. I don't know why; the brake switches already have the necessary sensors; it's just a matter of throwing together a few different off the shelf components, packaging them up and calling it a day. Would you guys please make a video on wiring up some kind of blinker and brake kit that doesn't involve $12 ebay kits with wireless remotes? I'll even give you an upvote.
@@jerkychew899 I've been pestering them about it for months. I've even offered to pay for a kit in full so that I can be the first to have it but they won't budge. I guess Onyx is more popular in NYC so they're prioritizing mods for Onyx before they start production on the Sur Ron light kits.
The little rubber oring on the fork is to indicate sag when setting the fork up. With a dh mtb fork like that it's probably meant to sit at about 30% sag when under rider weight. Not sure if that's a spring or air spring model, but you should be able to adjust the sag to get it into its optimal range. Yeah it will also show if you bottomed out, but you should already know if that's happening.
And also to check how much travel you used after a ride. If for example the sag is set right but you use not all travel you could remove one of the spacers inside the airchamber to make it less progressive and vice versa.
Not really, a lot of air shocks don't come with an o-ring because you can setup sag with a tape measure. That is how you do coil shocks, and any air shock can be done like this. There is really no other way to check if you're bottoming out though or how much travel you used. And for that reason I would say the o-ring is more useful for seeing how much travel you are using since you only setup your sag once in a while.
And o ring isn’t an accurate measurement of how much travel/travel as they tent to move while riding by force or mud hitting them. I tend to measure out a line with a dry erase marker, go for a ride and measure the stroke and adjust from there. I’ve been doing this for years and it’s way more accurate than the o ring so give that a go next time you’re all seeking up suspension in the future and let me know how you go?
I have a few hammer head and handle shaped holes in the walls of my shop 😆 also the walls are all covered in 1/2 plywood for hanging shelving/pegboard, so those that made it through were just the *really* bad moments 😆👍
I love the sur-ron bikes! (Sur-ron/segway 95% same bike colors and a app is the difference) But them lightspeed batteries 🔋 with a bac8000 your doing big things range should be around 50ish miles on a full charge as long as your not going WOT the whole time. Stock i get about 35 miles i have the sur-ron LBX same as the segway x260. LOVE IT! best buy i ever made hands down. There are sooooo many parts available for it. But pro tip. Do not buy any parts branded "sur-ron" (i would stay away from Lunacycle aswell) But all the parts that have the sur-ron or segway *brand* on it are actually *zoom* but sur-ron puts their name on the part and chages the price from $5-$10 to $50-$60 lol true story just look up sur-ron replacement headlight you will fine they are around $50. Than look up zoom led headlight you will see they are actually $6!!!
Those forks are basically mountain bike forks. That red ring is a sag indicator, to set the correct sag for your suspension. You can also play around with volume spacers inside the fork to change how linear the suspension feels.
Your video made me wonder what that KTM would look like with road tires. It might win the break test that way as well. Gary would probably work perfectly if you mount all the mods you have but the looks need to be adjust on that bike... it still looks like a regular electric mountainbike.
If I remember correctly, the eSM is a thing. It's just really hard to get, or they stoped making them because the electric Hype wasn't there yet. I bet it could look alot like all the ktm 690 supermoto's.
Hey Sean! I’ve been watching your channel since... forever lol and I just wanted to say how awesome you and your team are! I live in Pittsburgh PA so I need to make the drive to check out your shop sometime. Keep it up guys!
I think the Segway x160 would be the perfect bike to be a vehicle replacement in my little town because it's all hills and street.... I would probably ride that bike instead of driving and I'd make a sidecar so I could take my son on rides as well, then I'd probably keep it running for the next 20 years until I couldn't find parts for it anymore. I'd probably buy up a bunch of parts now so I'd have stuff to fix it w/ if anything happened but you can use all the diffent Sur Ron controllers and stuff to fix it.... Definitely loving the street tires but I'd have to get a wrap for it, I don't like the silver. 😊❤️
The belt drive is there so that wen u let off the throttle it doesnt engine brake as bad. You can program the esc not to let the motor brake as bad. So keep that in mind.
I think one good idea with Gary would be get the best jackshaft style setup I'm guessing that's what it has because of the polarity of the motor but once you get that belt to stop slipping I would be interested in just seeing more videos after that is fixed that's a crazy accomplishment I literally said 67 miles an hour as the top speed just a matter of seconds before you hit 70 I know it was just a coincidence but I can't believe it was that close I feel like Gary with dirt tires is just as exciting as the KTM electric dirt bike
Man this seg bike is my ABSOLUTE dream bike. Maybe just maybe one day before I die I'll get to ride one. There pretty expensive. LOVE this bike. SOOOOO sick.
It's quite refreshing to see you guys run into problems and getting upset about it. I too have issues installing things sometimes so I know I am not alone. Love the knowledge you share in your vids. Keep em coming.
I remember when I installed my bar end mirrors on my bike and the mirrors just didn't want to get on the barends because the bar ends were 0.2mm too wide. Sanded both barends for 2 hours and ended up just hammering both pieces together. They won't be coming off one another tho :/ haha
Oh I could see Craig’s frustration, been there. Wish they brought in someone or at least consulted someone to help Craig that has experience with these, I think they would very impressed with it. Sean would love to help, A few do those issues could be addressed with a few tips like changing primary drive.
You need to redo the acceleration test on pavement. You guys should get a seat lift and peg lowering kit. You also need taller bars and a direct stem mount. Most importantly, you need to upgrade the brakes after the power upgrade.
Would love to see Sean get on an electric unicycle! I've been binge watching videos of them with the kiddos living vicariously through RU-vid since all Dad's free monies are going to adoption.
The electric unicycle is the most fun you can have riding anything. Get a begode RS torque , it have enough torque for a large dude. It’ll go on a beer run, it’ll also blast a mnt bike trail.
@@squidsleap RS HT seems like the perfect wheel, as you said, for whipping around and droping trails. I've put a lot of thought into getting one. Currently Sending on the EX.N HS
@@Jerm72618 ,the additional parts were $7500 on top of a basic $3500 bike...total is $11,000 to compete with the other $12000 bike and make it better than that one
Remember how expensive gateway computers were in the 90's......? Now you can buy a phone for 100bucks that way out performs the old gateway. Just saying give it time they will get to be more affordable in time same with electric cars.
Air Plasma cncs don't do a precise enough job make a sprocket. Hi Def Plasma cncs can get a lot closer but if you have that kind of money you might as well step up to a fiber laser. When I make sprockets on my plasma cnc I leave extra material to do a final precise cut in my cnc milling machine.
I've always dreamt of having a decent ebike, with phenomenal speed. But when you're on a "FIXED INCOME", it's like trying to touch a star with your bare hands. BASICALLY IMPOSSIBLE...
Nothing isn’t impossible take the IM out of impossible and you get possible dream keep on aiming I’m not saying it will be easy as I struggle too but I’m slowly getting there trying to buy my self one too so you can do this
@@curtiswilcock5628 I appreciate your optimism. But in my current situation, I'm just being a "Realist". My income is not set up for me to be able to obtain an eBike. And that's just the reality that I have to live with. Do I like it? No. But those are the facts. I can only imagine riding, and owning an awesome eBike...
I picked up an R1, used. If you just mount a pizza box on one, and run pizzas at night, well, did it ( in my car)to supplement my income, yrs ago, a few hundred extra a week, at night!
@@raymondharris6599 things change if you work hard keep your nose clean. maybe check into going back to school lost of grants out their. I went back for HVAC doubled my pay $30hr.
@@jrrains perhaps you didn't understand my comment when I'd said that I'm on a fixed income. It means that I collect SSI once a month because of a disability. Plus I've already received my college degree in HVAC, with work experience. Eventually my body has given out on me. I can no longer do strenuous work. I'm not trying to give away my whole medical history online, but if it was possible for me to do meaningful work, I would. Also. Are you under the impression that I'm a drug user, or alcoholic? The reason I'm asking you this is because of your reference to me "KEEPING MY NOSE CLEAN". What gives you the impression that I'm not?
Thanks again for all the videos and again my deepest sympathies go to you after you have been screwed! Obviously that one time "AKA"the Car! But we don't wanna talk about that, you're doing a lot for us and sometimes you get nothing in return! Other than our "fan " or what we have to say as in our Remarks! All that stuff it's a appreciated!!
Hey Gary love the video and I learned lots of stuff as always! Both Bikes are amazing Honestly and seriously amazing! Here's the question is your cheapest ebike, still the cheapest even after you made all the updgras to make it faster, than the KTM? So is it under 12-15K or does it exceed 15K?
He is probably in around 6-7k. Keep in mind though, these tests are flawed. The KTM has magnitudes better suspension. The segway is essentially an electric MTB that happens to have a twist throttle versus the KTM being an actual dirtbike frame and suspension.
the Suron can be upgraded and you can also sell original parts if you want to make the upgrade cheaper. it's still cheaper than the ktn. once you upgrade the fork, brakes, that are pretty capable dirt bikes if you can do with the small size. it's a different kind of riding, more agile but not too the power of a 450 dirt bike. the original battery still has a lot of value. also you don't need to buy dozens of sprocket/chains etc.
Most important question for me. What’s the leg room like on the Segway? I’m 6’5” 230lbs and looking into Ebikes. What size are you guys? You both look pretty tall making the Segway appear to be pretty small. Edit: I cannot wait to see these lightweight Emotorcycles with large frames and ergos to match hit the market. The Drill with a 26” front wheel looks promising but man are they expensive now.
@@Lurch685 Hey man I have a surron I honestly think a stock surron (segway, but buy surron - same brand but surron is better) starts to get a little uncomfortable and small when you are 6'6 plus; I am 6'1 and it works fine for me; my 6'3 friend looked great on it; my 6'4 friend started to look just a little weird riding it.. I think 6'6 is honestly the threshold on one of these BUT you can get larger 21 inch tires, which can run you 400 to 1500 for the initial payment and it'll make the bike stand taller and probably be feasible for anyone up to 6'9 imo... As for weight: 275 pounds is a pretty good max weight for a rider for this bike stock.. upgraded suspension and tires 325 pounds no problem
@@Lurch685 Honestly at 6'5 you should be ok, but the bike will look small; not really a big deal tho! I love the surron - super economical and fun. Expect to get 16 to 20 miles on a charge in sport (full throttle); it is a city commuter bike. The cheapest upgrade you can make for more comfort at your size is higher and or wider handlebars, seat heighten, or the expensive options - motorcycle tires for big bikes (this involves labor and money tho) so the handlebar is probably your best best.. my 6'3 friend looked absolutely rad riding it.
When installing the new front axle shaft put a dot of blue lock tight and tighten to about 15 ft/lbs, or upgrade to the new green front axle that Luna cycles sell. I had to drill out two front axles that came with those forks, they are complete garbage and strip instantly.
Awsome job boys, can you now camouflage Gary and take him anywhere like grocery shopping? Maybe make some accessories like a boat attachment or a snow mobile attachment or even a helicopter attachment?! Or just make Craig frustrated again, that was priceless.
In the old videos I've been telling you over and over to get the SURRON up to the ASI levels!! I felt all the old videos was a bit sour cause I know what this bike does. But happy you did this so you know what this bike about.
my Ebike kit on my mountain bike does 30mph top speed and around 40 miles distance cost less than a grand ,, rear wheel hub drive with just a throttle no peddle assist ..
If you are local to B&B (Lancaster PA), Green Mountain Cylcery in Ephata is a licenced retailer for Sur Ron bikes now. They sell their bikes for less than Luna as well. You are welcome.
Dude I think that was a kawasaki ke100, I have one. Everybody has layed it over, nobody has gone over like that lol. It's a great learning/teaching bike
I love the ktm dirt bike lol growing up everything I bought with motor neibors would call cops that’s so quiet you could rip around and no one could say anything
Those are like light motorcycle wheels but the tires are bicycle fat tires. I like the electric motor sounds from this. It's plenty fast for the size and weight.
Having the belt there is because every gear ratio is multiplied with the next gear! So they are able to get 150-200percent lower gearing without a rear wheel sprocket becoming as huge as the wheel. Creating enough torque is the goal on everything electric.
