The range information is really baffling - all the websites where WLTP range is used have been updated to show an increase of 4.48% for both the RWD and LR (491 to 513 and 602 to 629 kms respectively). The Australian website shows no extra information about different ranges for different wheels. The European websites show 513 and 629km as the "headline" WLTP range but when you hover over the 18" photon wheels the fine print when selecting this configuration option suggests 554km for the RWD and 678km for the LR with these wheels. Why publish the lower WLTP range if a higher one is available? and why is it Europe shows a higher WLTP range than Australia with the Photon wheels? More digging required... since the wheels are exactly the same surely a tyre compound (available in Europe and not Australia?) can't make that much difference.
@@LudicrousFeed unfortunately not :( Tesla has made me accept the new higher price or cancel the order :( I’m not complaining, it looks like an awesome car for the money and my first EV
So many great improvements, range, interior, suspension, noise reduction, better soundsystem (which was already great), ventilated seats, improved connectivity. I would happily pay 8000$ more for this compared to the former model !
Finally, a premium feel for the Model 3. It's now really worth what they are charging for it. If they keep the price like this they are going to kill the competition. How are they going to compete with middlemen flippers called dealers who want their cut in their way?
Like the upgrades particularly to the internals but seem to be misisng some of the things rumoured over the last few months - maybe drip in over the next few quarters. - 3d model doesnt seek to show single piece casting - cameras seem to still be 1.2MP based on CarWow - equally no HW4 (or even HW3.5) - no new batteries - range bump seems to be aero only - still a downgraded (no sub) audio in the 3 RWD, whereas thr base Y has premium audio But love the new headlights, the ventilated seats and uograded USB-C (Though would have preferred 240V socket or V2L). Also doesnt appear to have the additional touch buttons like the S/X to change gears, possibly screen only.
I've studied the side repeaters. Definitely will ship with HW4 and upgraded cameras. Front camera is unknown. Some images from Aussie website show a front camera and some do not.

Tom are the improvements that great, you are upgrading so soon? Personally, I'd have waited to see, how much full self-driving performs with the new chip.
Congrats on the order 🎉 I placed an order for blue color on the 9pm 31/12/2023 to secure the benefits but finally made my decision to go for an EV instead of a hybrid car. When is your eta delivery? ( mine is late Feb/early March). I also noticed you bought a BYD seal premium a few weeks back, you also have a Model Y. So you are having three cars after you get your new model 3 ? Good to see a Sydney based to give us a real life review on the cars. Keep the good work 👍
Thanks! I already have a “Prepare for Delivery” notice from Tesla as the vehicle has arrived in Australia apparently. Given I already have the BYD Seal, it’s unlikely I’ll proceed with the Model 3
Congratulations. Currently in negotiations about doing this or waiting for Juniper/Panda given this is a good insight in to that one. I do wonder if the price will slowly drop back once inventory is cleared in the coming months.
Would like to know what the new tail light design is doing for orange turn indicators. The ones in the old tail light design are pathetic and were obviously added as an afterthought to the American configuration. Can probably live without USS’s as long as they put the front bumper camera in and allow the image to be viewed (not rely on Tesla vision for parking) preferably with a 360 view. The new bonnet line and headlights make my current Model 3 look even more frog-like. The turn signal switch now being on the steering wheel yoke was obviously designed in a country that doesn’t have roundabouts (and the requirement to signal your exit in the opposite direction). Likewise, removing the ‘mode’ selector (R,N,D,P) on to the screen means you can’t manoeuvre forwards and backwards by moving the physical stalk without looking. I was glad to see they at least retained the scroll wheels. So you should be able to navigate to the other touch buttons by feel, using those as a datum point. Hopefully the buttons require a positive touch rather than being activated if you brush them accidentally like the Mercedes and VW touch controls. I must watch the Carwow video again because the clip you used gave a nice closeup of the paintwork that appeared to show some ‘orange peel’ affect. You are brave to order on day one while there are still unanswered questions about equipment and configuration. But I guess all you are really hazarding is the non-refundable order fee.
Hey Tom, what are your thoughts on the new BYD Seal Premium vs the new model Tesla 3 due in January next year? Yes I can see you have ordered a new Teslas 😊 It's just soooo confusing 😊 Has Tesla opened up it's charging network to all other EV users?

love the new acoustic upgrades, but no HW4 and why removal of the fog lights? also has anyone had experience with the 'no stalks' turn option? intimidating but kind wanna try it.
Motorbikes don't have stalks, their indicator switches are usually within reach of your thumb. I'm sure you can get used to it after the first few drives.
@@A.N.O.1412 You're not exactly moving your hand position in the same fashion as a car though. @ThePantheons I also am wondering why they would be removing fog lights. I would definitely use mine a few times a year.
Isn't it frustrating? Or maybe I am being too impatient. I organised a novated lease and need to provide a final tax invoice. Now I have to wait, Tesla should at least provide some kind of timeframe for people who placed their order in the beginning of September.
Thanks for sharing Tom! I wonder if the rear screen runs from the main computer, or if it has its own chip…. Curious whether this opens the door to third party rear screen additions that run the Tesla rear screen software natively…
I’m also interested in if the 3rd party screen that fits on the steering wheel fits this new model with the different stalkless shroud. I nearly bought one while waiting but held off. I’m hoping the floor mats fit haha.
Great video! Wondering if there’s a a breakdown somewhere or whats included with the RWD vs the LR as I’m sure like the previous model some features will be exclusive to the AWD versions. What made you go for RWD?
Will be a good video to break down the two variants. My reasons for RWD: - I don’t need the extra range nor the extra motor for added acceleration or traction as it will be my town runabout - I know Tesla sound system will be awesome regardless of variant - RWD resale will be better
Hi Tesla Tom, I've been thinking about getting a Tesla but given the hot sun in AU, I'm a bit concerned about the heat coming from the full glass roof of the car. Have you ever found it necessary to use aftermarket roof covers to minimise the issue?
The glass roof is fine for 80% of the year. However during the warmer months, I find a shade is helpful particularly if you’re parking outdoors for prolonged periods. @@LudicrousFeed we might need to sell early if the brand’s value declines further………but I suspect our Model 3 indicator stalk might be more appreciated now. Time for Sandy Munro to call time on his cheapening fixation.
@@davidpearn5925 Its amazing they want to save a few dollars on stalks then add ambient lighting which is nothing more that saying you want your car to look like a Russian strip club.
I ordered my highland on release date here in Australia and already got the email to fill in details for delivery! I have heard that it will be coming before the estimated delivery time! Wondering if you have had the same?
@@LudicrousFeed tesla is a proven lazy auto manufacturer - too much short termism and too late for genuinely obvious renewal of ageing product range. What the general public will accept is fundamentally important……more so than what fanboys talk about.
still not sure of the indicators on the wheel when trying to find it to indicate out of a roundabout, where will they be ? Will they be on the other side of the wheel ?
I've studied the side repeaters. Definitely will ship with HW4 and upgraded cameras. Front camera is unknown. Some images from Aussie website show a front camera and some do not.
Same battery. Different range calculation/standards. Chinese use CLTC which usually overestimates real world range. WLTP is closer but still overestimates North American EPA is closer
