@@brettgarcia1128 i like how people think that deserve the same if not more than what they paid for when trading a game to Gamestop. But in reality they come in with something like Madden 2k16 and want 40 dollars for it. Try trading something thats in demand and of value like most switch games like Smash Ultimate or Splatoon 2. Not C.O.D and their yearly releases or some movie tie in game.

@Jonathan Soko Every shop I've ever been to. They sell at prices that will sell. If I walked into a shop looking to buy Conker's and they had the loose version for the same price as the CIB they would never sell it. Ever. Fairy tales don't exist but pricing based on included content totally does.

@North American RU-vidr They also mention what's included. Clearly GameStop wants those high-end collector prices but not to have to do any due diligence. It would actually have to do some work in order to classify what comes with it. GameStop ain't got time for that.

@Jr2nd what? My local GameStop won't even buy a game if it isn't worth $5 in store credit or in a larger group of games, and if they bought it for $1.50 then it went for about $5. They typically buy games for a little under half of what it's worth, that's business. The rarer the game the more they pay for it, I sold a complete copy of Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn to GameStop for about $60-70 and they sold it for $90, and I've also sold them games that sale for about $5-10 and those sell for about $15-30 on average.

A place by me (in Michigan) called Mind Games gives all the quality you can ask for. The prices reflect if there is any damage or anything missing. Even a cheap $5 game will be priced for $4 if the manual is missing and it tells you on the very easily removable stickers.

I love how Gamestop did a whole video about "preserving" games and immediately made a policy to throw away the vast majority of manuals. (Or more likely sell the complete copies on ebay through a 3rd party)

@@andrewhime7701 Well a verified Gamestop manager sent emails to the Not so Common podcast about their policies and yes they had a 3rd party seller that called Green River or something like that and they sell games through, also other wholesale sellers. Video is titled "Inside Info about GameStop's Retro Game Trade-In Program " They talk about the whole sale sellers at 7:30. Why would they need to be organized to realize that they would get the best price by selling their product through ebay??? I am speculating that they don't sell their best stuff through their own website but that is a wild speculation given what I know to be true already.

@@JC-hi8fk they specifically did a video about preservation of games. That means everything that came with the game including the manual. It's a specific word and a specific context. Even if you didn't care about the manual throwing away of all the original Dreamcast cases meant that vast majority of games were badly damaged because of the shelf and paper sleeve system that they implemented during that time.

No, they don't tell you. I ordered a bunch of Wii games online earlier this year and it was hit or miss. I got lucky and some good games like Pandora's Tower came with case and manual, but others did not.

When it comes to the retro games, conventions are definitely your best bet if you want complete items. Otherwise, mom and pop second hand game shops here and there are usually a good bet. Good prices, plus there's usually deals going on for older games, you get to see what you're getting before you get it, and they are usually down for a little bartering

It’s all games with a case. Ds, 3ds, etc. even Wii. I was told that at the store, they are told to toss the case and ship the loose games to HQ in Texas. It is such a shame. They do not get retro games at all.

Why you knockin Ebay so much? You have 100% buyer protection on Ebay. If the seller doesn't want to refund you than Ebay will, no problem especially if it's an issue where "Item Not As Described". Plus you can actually see what you're buying.

The Best Around I’ve been buying off eBay since 1997 and have gotten ripped off on video games less than each and everyone of his transactions with GameStop. Never had a problem with video games on eBay.

Not only that, if eBay fails to side with the buyer, the buyer can do a chargeback on their credit card, and the credit card companies are as bad as eBay when it comes to dishonest buyers, they ALWAYS side with a buyer AND unlike eBay they don't require the buyer to return their item to get a refund. Had a dishonest buyer steal an expensive DVD set from me that way, called his credit card company and said one of the discs skipped and he wasn't going to return it to me. Uhh, ok, here's your refund... Bastards.

7:41 - top damage only affects CDs as the reflective material is on the underside of the label; On DVDs, the reflective material is sandwiched between the two plastic layers of the disc.

Hey, double check that Brigandine disc and make sure it works fully. That little transparent chip or whatever on the label side could be an indication of disc rot. The data layer is pretty much right below the label, the rest of the disc is just surface (hence why they can be resurfaced, the lower layer on the underside doesn't carry the data).

Seeing the prices people pay for some of these retro games I am so glad I bought most of my collection before collecting them became a thing. I bought two copies of megaman 1 and Megaman 5 and 6 for $5 each. They were complete in the box although the boxes were pretty ruff. The manuals were pristine because they had photocopies in the case for people renting them. They didn't even have the usual rental store stickers on them. Got Megaman 7 there for $10 same condition as well.

Man those N64 game prices are insane, back in the day I buy "Conquers bad furday" for $62USD new, most of those games are mass produced so there is no reason for prices too be this high especially for PlayStation 2 games that cost $10-15USD in the bargain bin. I ordered like 10 retro games on GameStop (GameCube, PS2, and Wii games) and none of them included original boxes (most not even a box). I assumed they very often do because your do. I was so disappointed with reality. I stopped ordering online at GameStop.

I still have my Xenosaga games, in the cases no less. Strategy Guides too. I don't remember which one it was but I think Episode II's collector's guide came with a soundtrack CD. I think I've taken it out two or three times since owning it. Hell. All of my 100+ PS2 games are still in their cases. I learned my lesson with my PS1 when I put all of the games into a CD binder. Sadly my FF VIII copy is missing disc one. Friend stole it from me when I was young. Recently I went to buy a new one to replace it but the prices are outrageous. I have it digitally on my PS3 and PS4 so it's no big deal. I think the only PS1 games I still have the case for are Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy VII.

You can technically return anything from Ebay too. Buying from ebay is not bad I am an ebay seller and I would trust me more then gamestop. If you buy a bootleg copy of something and a seller dosent respond ebay will step in and give you a refund they have very good buyer protection. Plus you can message sellers directly before buying anything and ask any questions and make sure its complete and ask for additional pictures and all. So dont worry about buying from a place like Ebay

I wouldn't pay $50-$70 for a retro game like that unless it was complete in box. As far as I'm concerned, this disk only/cartridge only crap is worthless. At least on Ebay with reputable sellers (which are not hard to find) you can clearly see what you're buying beforehand. I've bought quite a few older games recently, mostly Gameboy/GBA, complete in box on Ebay, for less than these. I had been paying $40 or so average for complete in box copies of things.

=b I'm pretty sure the game itself is way more important and valuable then uselsss box ans paper. The complete sets for N64 games tend to be in the 100s of dollars and hold much more value then GB/GBA games do to their much larger sizes physically and in terms of game files. You can even see such in the case with C:bfd the game itself needs a heavy heat sink.

@@travisv6408 where they N64 games? The average sale price for C:bfd is $60 loose, $130 Used with Box, $230 unopened and $750 fine graded. The box by itself often sells for $50 and the manual often sells for $22. There's actually sites that monitor these things across the webs and even actually store data o3o Each console games have different values and even by that it's a game by game basis. You can get any of the madden or NBA N64 games complete in box for $10 - $20 =b

@@travisv6408 example of how drastic prices can be between consoles, Sonic 2 on the genesis/mega drive average $5 loose, $10 complete, $80 nee and $300 high graded. The box by iteself is usually sold at $7.50 and just the manual $4.50

eBay actually has a really good return policy that doesn’t require any interaction from the seller. If the seller doesn’t respond to a return request within the allotted time, you can escalate it to eBay and they will take care of it. Honestly, it is probably easier to return something from eBay than GameStop.

2 things: Never completely screw or unscrew a screw at once. Go around loosening all screws (i.e. if there are 4 loosen diagonally 1, 3, 2, 4) from one another to even the change in force, to keep from screwing up any of the threads. Next, for that stripped screw, you can most likely stick a big beige rubber band over the head, and then use your screwdriver like normal. When you push it into the head with the screwdriver, the rubber band will (hopefully) give you the extra volume you need to get it out without resorting to a dremel.

Problem with GameStop is they're selling you non complete physical editions at top prices. None of the pieces are original &/or missing pieces. The worst part is they do this with no disclaimer so you never know what you're buying. it'd be one thing if they told you it's missing pieces but they flat out hide all that info from you.

You shouldn't have to assume what you're getting when you're buying a physical edition. Maybe it's not a big deal to some people but to majority of people that still buy physical editions we buy them for the complete package.

When you opened up that Mega Man NES cart that was the first time I saw the inside of any NES game. Since the cartridge is as big as it is I would've thought that the motherboard of the game would've taken up the whole inside. But when I saw the motherboard that could've fit almost 3 times inside the cartridge. What a waste of space!

Just check facebook or craigslist. There are usually tons of people trying to sell Wiis for pretty cheap. Almost everyone had one back in the day and most just played Wii sports for awhile then threw it in the closet. So there are a ton of them out there.

for stripped screws, try placing a rubber-band or similar material between the screw head and the driver. should provide enough grip to turn, and you wont have to cut anything

Yes, they're cleaning the N64 games. One of the problems at Blockbuster was people were renting games, then taking the game apart at home and replacing it with old NES boards cut and shaped to look like the N64 board. They'd keep the game board and return the casing, claiming it was broken.

It's interesting that you got a bunch of games off of Game Stop's website that were more expensive than eBay. I've had my eye on Mega Max X2 and Mega Man 5 (non-complete), and those are about $10 - $20 cheaper on Game Stop's website than they are on eBay, so I was tempted to take a chance on them through Game Stop.

Getting disc games at GameStop online is like playing roulette or craps. I have hit big with titles in cases like breath of fire 3 and a few game cube games. I have also ordered 20-30 games and not gotten a single case.. the nice thing is that you can always return it to the store if you don't like that its loose and they really cant say no if you are within the 7 days.

I hate not getting complete copies but I've picked up a few bargains recently, Local game shops are also a great place to get retro stuff that you can see in person, Plus if the person that owns the place sees you fairly regularly you may get discounts.

I've only ordered 3 retro games from Gamestop, mostly out of curiosity. Virtua Fighter 3, Daytona USA, and Jet Grind Radio all on Dreamcast. Disc only, all of them. Which is basically what I thought would happen.
