@@MisterUrbanWorld you cant get $200 limits? The minimum ive found (not American) in my country is $2k and then you can lower to $1k after opening. Many credit cards are for 6 or 10k. BUT i think its a lot harder to get credit here with a decent bank. Personally would never get a cc without researching fees and interest and i think thats were a lot of people get caught and going with more "pay day" type banks.

If everyone who says they make $100,000 to $200,000 or more on the internet actually were, the median income wouldn't be as low as it is. The dude calling in saying he used to make $100,000 annual probably made closer to $30,000, but just can't or refuses to do the actual math of it because that would mean he'd have to admit he could never pull in more than $30,000 annual. Whether the call, or the caller, were real or not, your explanation of how the emotional strain of severe debt affects our ability to deal with it, really hit home with me. At age 66, I've been through similar circumstances recently, and I was just nodding my head up and down as you talked. Thanks for helping put things in perspective.

joshua gallardo look into to uber. After taxes, gas, car maintenance, deprecation of your car and other expenses, Uber drivers are lucky to make a little more than minimum wage.

There are other ways to capitalize on the Uber platforms than just trading time for money. Referral bonuses, tips, Bonus hours.....and depending on the type of ride, higher pay than the usual. You are a business owner yet many people drive for Uber or Lyft as if they are employees. You make what you want and manage your own expenses, etc. in order to actually make that money.

True ., he wouldn’t have a choice of letting them have access if he was 100k in the hole with Amex or any of the other ones ., that he wouldn’t even have that kind of credit limit with the little amount he makes ., he did make money for a while it sounded like you have to do good with your credit for the lenders to increase your limits like pay off full balances before the 0 interest periods end or close enough to transfer them over to another 0 interest . I’ve been playing this game too long but I’m finally getting it now that’s it’s not worth it if you want to a life you can do more of the things that you want . Even 10k and up your payments all together rack up around or close to 200 a month

I've done Uber and Lyft. It is by far the worst "job" I ever tried to do. I live a location where Uber/Lyft is not very busy so I would work 60 to 80 hours a week and make $500.00 gross, now take away food, fuel, and taxes, keep half that. SO 80 hours for 250.00. D U M B - P H D class. Pizza-Hut and Dominoes pay at least minimum wage!

Wow, I can’t believe he’s 50 with $100,000 in cc debt! I’m 30 and stressed over my $45,000 student loan and $9,000 car. What I like to do for my car payments is instead of paying $300 a month out of one paycheck, I like to divide it up weekly and pay $75 each week to pay it down. It takes the burden out of paying so much in one sitting lol. I do this with my credit card debt as well

Wow that's a lot of credit card debt. The vast majority of the minimum payment on a CC is just interest. That's why they freak out if you don't pay that. That's how they make money. They don't care if you pay it off they just want their interest.
@arienfox
@arienfox 6 лет назад
I believe the statement that Dave said the CC is like the Cigarette of the Financial Industry.
@LordTrayus
@LordTrayus 6 лет назад
That's just flat out wrong. They absolutely do care that you pay it off. The interest-only payments is their worst case scenario when they analyze your loan, as in if you suddenly lost your job and are on unemployment, they want you to AT LEAST be able to make interest payments until you get back on your feet. But at the end of the day, they want the full amount back because it's not their money they are lending you. It's their depositors' money. And FDIC-insured or not, they get in serious trouble if their depositors come calling for money and they don't have money to give.
@aeromedical6750
@aeromedical6750 6 лет назад
@LordTrayus - yes, they want it paid off, but they absolutely would prefer you do it by making perpetual minimum payments. In fact cc companies consider people who pay the balance of what they charge every month to be “non-preferred” customers. This guy is exactly the kind of wet dream customer they want. Not only are they taking 80% of his monthly payment as straight profit, they continually raise his interest rate on the premise of balance to available credit limit. These things are absolute poison.
@classicrocklover5615
@classicrocklover5615 6 лет назад
I've known people with fantastic credit scores, who pay off their card everything month in full - and we're cancelled by the CC company because of it. CC companies are basically the mafia loan sharks we used to see standing on street corners.

@MDinhh
@MDinhh 6 лет назад
Something fishy about his story. At first he only talks about the 2k debt and Amex asking for $40/month min payment. Later he tells about his 100k debt, but how about minimum payments on that? Why is he concerned about 2k debt while he has 100k debt? I used to work in the cell phone industry and got people phone contracts and they pay $0 for phone but they pay monthly for 2 years. This fellow seems to be my customer that would try to get 5 phones at a time because it was $0 upfront. He neglects the fact that he will be in debt and neglects to pay his dues.
