While in England I gave a french tourist back her wallet she dropped on the street. She was genuinely suprised I gave it to her. I was happy to help but it was sad to get such a reaction. While in Japan I left my wallet at a train station and had a whole group of people chasing me to give it back. Love Japan.

Used to work at a local coffee shop. People would steal the tip jar a lot, so I decided to tie it to a string and attach the string to the counter. It worked. Watching people pull on it and realize it wasn’t coming with them was hilarious.
I left my wallet at a park one time and didn't realize until i checked my mailbox and my wallet was there with a note saying you left this in the park. I was so baffled someone went out of their way to drive to my house and drop my wallet off. Love Canada
@@genderl i've found a wallet with over 100€ inside plus cards and went to the police station to hand it to the police, while i was at the police station the owner appeared, not always about having money, if you are going to steal the money in the first place u never made a good action

I find it sad that England has become such a shit hole where this is now a very common occurrence. All those people were most likely victims themselves or know somebody that went through the same ordeal.
We got different brains. He let them get away although he could have caught them. Messed up world, people say well done for letting criminals get away. In the good old days you'd get called a scum and everyone in the neighbourhood would know. Guess we have to settle for this soft world

@@x24kdraco64 you can ask for permission and then use one of those 3m tape (used to hang towels) to secure the fake phone. Those shouldn't leave residue once removed.
This happened to me on my trip in London at the Fulham Five Guys in the middle of the day. Glad this video exists, because I knew their methods because of you and my friend did so too, so he could alarm me. In that instant, although I knew their scam, it took a few seconds to react because of the randomness and the common courtesy you have as a person. Stay vigilant and always question a random stranger! Thank you Zac!
@siphonlx no one sits in the cafe a whole day and looks at a phone on the table when they can hire one guy to dress like three other people in the hood, then “steal” your phone. The way they perfectly caught the suspicious movement on camera is fake. The airtag part is obviously fake. They would never find it. And certainly not in a convenient place between garbage bins. When you literally could put it inside.
The amount of good samaritans that warned him before it got stolen, made me happy to see. It’s sad that they need to warn someone at all…but since it is a reality of the area, I’m glad good people try their best to prevent it. ❤
Luckily pickpockets are the minority. I left my phone on a park bench in Amsterdam and as I realised I’d left it a lovely guy came up to ask me if I’d left this and handed me it. Would’ve been easy pickings to steal and definitely recovered some of my faith in humanity.
@@Readysetgo2007 Interesting thought :P I also thought at first that it's unlikely that you'd be sitting with your phone on the table an hour after your phone was stolen by the same guy... but then realized that the first time it wasn't an actual phone :P Who knows what was happening in the thief's mind?? Nothing good, that's for sure!
@@Luke_275 i did! They take the boxes home…fart spray comes, glitter, a stupid countdown, and they all discard the boxes. They’ll just go and steal more packages the next day. Nothing is achieved besides Mark Rober making a shitload of money from all the views. Not one single thief is charged with anything

He watched you grab the 1st phone, waited for you to sit down, and went for another phone thinking there is no way you use multiple fake phones. If you live in a place that is frequented by pickpockets you and your friends should buy a dozen of these phones and once a month see who you can get to steal them.

Coming back to comment on this video to say, thank you so much for making this. I wasn't aware of this particular pickpocket technique until this video, but because of it I was able to save my friends phone from being stolen from inside a restaurant with that exact method. My mind immediately thought back to this video when I saw someone putting that paper on our table! You've truely saved my friend a LOT of distress Zac!

I wonder if this guy is from London. I've heard the crime rate there is very high. In my city i've never heard from any of my friends or relatives that they ever got pickpocketed.

About a year ago I got into fishing and a few months in is when I really discovered the differences in fishing line. Doubling up your line was very smart and if I had nothing but some 10lb line, I'd have done the same, twisting it into a rope and tying off the end. Once I had nothing but 10lb line and had to quadruple the line into rope because the Barracuda I was catching would smash and chomp straight through the 10lb.
Really hope you notified the police of this. It’s insane this happened so regularly at those times in those places. Your work could help a lot of people stay safe

Once i left my phone in Saudi in Makkag and i thought i was a goner because it had been an hour, but this dude then picks up the call and even comes to the location to drop it to me personally 🥺💕
I legit believe that if enough people do stuff like this guy is doing out in Central London a week, at some point, over a period of time, we could see a decline in thievery as it will begin to be too likely to get caught out. This video could be a real service to the people of this city
