This is crazy, I'm actually IRL friends with the guy who made Nekomancy. I was an early playtester for it and everything. I was absolutely not expecting it to show up in a video like this. Probably hard to believe since that seems like such a huge coincidence on the internet but I know the guy lmao.
to be fair, tags can also be applied by users, and often they will apply roguelike tags onto games that arent really roguelikes. so the tagging system is.... not that great, in that respect

Rogue: if you lose, you have to start again from the beginning without any progress. Skooch: idk, does it make sense to lose everything and start from the beginning when you die? I mean, i understand that language evolves, but i think the genre "roguelike" is not well understood by many people. It means that the game employs a permadeath mechanic and procedurally generated levels. If you want to be nitpicky you can discern between roguelike and roguelike-like games, the latter being a more open category. "True" roguelikes would also emply turn based combat and inventory management. The most important thing would be, however, that there is no progression between runs. Those games, like hades or the binding of isaac would fall into the category of roguelite. So that first game would be a roguelike(like) game and there's nothing "harsh" about having to restart from scratch. Anyways, i did enjoy that video a lot, and while i probably won't play any of these games myself it's always fun to learn about some... More unique experiences.

Nekomancy probably has less than 50 review that are mixed, because some people really, really love the concept and some really, really hate everything else. It costs about 5 bucks.
I think its pretty funny how in the "can we talk about roguelikes" video a month after this video he makes a case for roguelite being a bad term and not necessary. While in this video he had already effectively proven the need for it.

VERDICT: Seriously underestimated the reviews, but the other two were within acceptable range. Two points. Nekomancy: 10 reviews, 90% negative (because some people be crazy), $5 VERDICT: ZERO! Completely underestimated this one in every way, except for the price which I overestimated to an incalculable degree. So yeah, we got the exact same score, Skooch. If you're bad at this, you're no worse than I am.
I really miss Metal Gear Solid Online, that was one of the only PvP online games that did more than just "shoot the other guys" to me and i think back to it all the time.

Alright Mr Engaging Entertainer, I'll write my predictions alongside the video and write an after-thought once I see the results. LLSD: Id say at least 15 USD if it has voice acting. The meta humor and self awareness is really fun, tho the gameplay could probably use some work albeit a pretty neat idea. Reviews under 1K, and being torn between gameplay and humor, id guess that the reviews are positive, but not overwhelmingly so. Game 3 makes perfect sense if you look at how normal people get thier games. They don't cold open to a youtuber's gameplay, they see it on the store and choose to get it. Game 3 is pretty upfront about what it is right down to the thumbnail image. If that's not your style then you know not to play it, if it might be for you then the price of entry is free so when it boots at all you're in the green for your investment. It's realy not the kind of game to get negative reviews.
