Ive watched this guy's video before I found your reaction to it. I was pleased in how he explained the game in a nutshell. I was a skeptic of the game as he was, but it's a very immersive game when you get into it. There's lots to appreciate (and hate) about the game but the good outweighs the bad.

The story is what got me. Genshin has a special kinda way of reaching out, gently taking you by the heart, and punching it repeatedly. For what you see on the surface, it can be surprisingly dark.

One of the biggest things I love about Genshin is that every significant character is treated as the main character of their own stories rather than just being treated as side characters and that they actually get their own quests circled around their them that you personally get to interact with. Also, even after finishing the archon quests for each nation it doesn’t actually mean that the nation is completely different e with. Even after you continue to the next nation, the previous ones will still hold significance to future events.

Note: the problem with lines abruptly ending is entirely based on turning on autoplay for cutscenes. The lines themselves aren't cut off: the autoplay timing is wrong early on for some languages. (Since I don't use autoplay I never even knew this was there until I watched streamers.)

Took me almost 2 years to get to ar 60 and ive been there for a few months now and im still playing daily. Genshin has kind of become my daily routine. If im too tired id just do dailies and condense, then pick it up the next day. Happy to say im one of those people still completely on love with the game and i hope i continue to be positive about it.

Tectone went from a Real-Talk Genshin Creator to a Real-Clown Genshin Voldemort. It's not about him taking a break; he needs to chill.

Honestly. Worst thing about Genshin is limited story events. Not that the events sucks, but the permanent loss in story is kinda weird ngl. I'd love to go back and do Fiscl's story for instance, also thinking about the fact newer players will never know her backstory. I assume they do this because data space on phones. That's also why everything has to be activated to access it. So you receive the game is smaller pieces.

Asmon is slowly getting more and more sold on trying Genshin. It would be smart too, since he'd be able to draw all the people who watch Genshin streams.

enemeis scale with the amount of players. Optimal for domains is 2 players, as that allows most characters to have cooldowns off constantly, without enemies scaling too far. In addition it means there is usually at least 2 synergies in the team, as each player choose 2 characters then.

My favorite part of the video is when Tectone, the living meme and king of bad takes, who has been basically making a living out of playing the game for hundreds if not thousands of hours appeared to shit talk the endgame of a casual game after everyone laughed at him for spending $300K on it. The video don't spoil it but the LORE and story is good (at least for us Genshin lore enthusiastic). The storyline is not bad and it's fun to theorized + finding hints about the world building. Everytime new area, Archon quest (main storyline) and events happen we get new finding. Also one of the reason why people pull for character is that we grow fond of them. They have their own personality, quirk and backstory all display in their character detail. Some of them (mostly major characters) are very layered and complicated. The NPC have interesting character and lore too. Like how he mention 'Perfume quest' and almost everyone who play Genshin knew it related to a certain main quest + Ying Er.

Genshin is a fun game. If you can avoid the desire to dump fat stacks of cash into it (which you don't need to even slightly do to finish all the content, though is helps) then its a great game with tons of hours of fun. also there's just so much good po- I mean, 'supplementary lore material' .

Genshin is really fun if your mind is strong enough to ignore the fomo and take breaks sometimes. It can become repetitive once you finish the current content.

The different between TOF and Genshin combat is In Genshin: you can clear everything with the worst character(that everyone said they are the worst of course) and abyss can be clear with 3 star weapon amd 4 star only TOF. Summertime Sparkle and Sea Breeze Dandelion were released in summer 2021, Orchid's Evening Gown and Opulent Splendor were released february 2022, Ein Immernachtstraum and Red Dead of Night were released in summer 2022, and Springbloom Missive and a skin for Lisa that's not displayed on that screen were released either last month or this month aka january/february 2023.

I wished he explained more about why Zhongli (the guy with 30 mil views) has more views and other new characters to show how active the community is. Basically whenever a character demo comes people will watch it them then immediately go to his and flood the comments section. Saying things like “X character demo is out, but we can all agree the CEO of GEO theme is a timeless masterpiece”(which is not wrong BTW). This is the contract as why he has that many views and keeps increasing with each new character being added to the game.

Not gonna lie, the game continues to have enough fun stuff that I continue to play it. For me, it's 15 minutes to do the daily stuff; when there's new content, I do that, which can result in many hours binging the big expansions and a few extra hours here and there playing the events. Not everyone will like everything evenly--I detest the platforming stuff, but I enjoy the bits that relate to the stories of even the minor side-characters, and I'm sure that there are plenty of people who enjoy the other stuff more. I get enough free wishes on a free-to-play basis, and at most, I've really only splurged once or twice to celebrate something good happening at a time when I could afford it; beyond that, gatcha is too frustrating to consider it.

Tectone is known to be the greatest clown by far in almost every Gacha game he touches. I'm sorry to write this while on an another OTK member's yt vid but it has to be said. He played the game for 2 years , his spendings happened because he craved the attention for being a whale , so he just maxed out all of his characters. Him saying that characters get powercrept after 2 patch is literally false LOL. The game does not have difficulty . In fact , newer characters are being REVERSE powercrept by OLDER characters , and its the 4STARs which were given out for free in events! Content does not consist of picking stuff in barren wasteland , he doesn't play the game when new update hits , he paid his own moderator to do the biggest chunk of content just so he can stream himself PULLING MORE GACHA. To him the content is just pulling not the game , ofc he does not feel like the game have anything in stored for him , because he pulled so many characters to their max and theres no challenges for him because those extra power is redudant! Like i said , newly came out 5 stars characters were being reverse powercrept by on-release 4star characters that occasionally were given out for free or you would occasionally pull them alongside with the 5stars you wanted. And if you have been playing since year 1 , you probably have a few of them at max. Tectone played since launch , but have such a twisted view of the game that its hard to discuss whether he truly played the game or not. The man only ever touches or talks about Genshin for views.

Me as a Genshin player but who also loves watching Asmon, it hurt me yet made me laugh every time he said that something in Genshin is like Tower of Fantasy. It’s a bit cringe but at the same time I gotta applaud him for making the commitment to continue the joke 🤣

I play it for the lore and sceneries. absolute masterpiece youre gonna love it. also characters are really decently built

for the primogem stream, usually if you are complete F2P you will get 40-50 pulls for every patch (which is 42 days). if you buy monthly pack (Welkins) and battle pass you will get to around 60-65. I you also happen to be able to clear full star abyss then this goes to 70 pulls. On average a 5 star character comes around every 76 pulls.

tectone talking about powercreep was the biggest bullshit i've ever seen, hu tao that is a character that released in the first 6 months of the game is still the best dps in the game. there's literally no powercreep, only horizontal progression

The description tectone gives is the description i give to tower of fantasy. If tectone had played the desert content, he wouldnt be feeling that way, but i guess he has just given up early.

I spent some money earlier because I thought the banners would be one time. But I think a lot of people can play f2p because banners repeat every few months so you can save free primogems to get the character you want. I still run my old team with Xiangling/fischl c6, hu tao c1, noelle c6 and childe c2 and have no problem clearing content.

If he doesn't try to speed run Genshin, he might actually end up enjoying it. Definitely one of those games about the journey and not the destination.

On the co-op question: easier if everyone knows what to do. Genshin seems to have a player base of smoothbrains who bring fire DPS into a domain where everyone is immune to fire and they don't bring a healer. It's a non-issue if people understand how to co-op but if you use random matching you'll run into all sorts of problems

17:00 it depends on what lvl the characters the others are using , on how they build them , how good the people are in general at playing perhapts the character theyr using and not to forget that if someone uses a character that loses HP when using theyr skill or burst for exsample i can think of 3 charcters that sacrifiece theyr HP for activating ether theyr burst or skill , so in worst case they can die quickly if theyr not careful or if there is no one using a character that is a dedicated healer or has a healing ability or if no one is using a character that can make a shield for everyone . Also there are those moments where when your doing a domain wich are the dungeons of genshin impact , only the person wich world your in can start domains and if anyone is outside the arena , theyr getting locked out and cant join the fight for exsample

The Zhongli trailer has so many views because it is taken by many as the gold standard of Genshin character trailers. Every time a new trailer comes out, many would re-watch the Zhongli trailer almost as a ritual, and then compare it with the new trailer.

17:08 It has its ups and downs, a downside is enemies scale to multiplayer hp, but the upside is that elemental reaction can be triggered faster since a member of the party pilots their build of a character, in a 2 player co-op the party of 4 characters is split between them, if it’s 3 player then only the host gets 2 characters. 43:50 Nope these are all claymores. Yes the fish is a claymore, actually a good part of the weapon types have a fish themed weapon, which is free to get but requires a lot of fishing for the exchange with the fishermen NPCs.

You can get Adventure Rank 50 in like a month or two if you grind it out... But then the exp jumps in the most insane manner Ive ever seen. 50-55 took me like a month and after that it jumps again, taking like 100 times more exp per level, literally. 55-60 took me well over a year. Granted I started a new job working night shifts so I probably cut my playing in half, but still. After 55 there is nothing locked behind the AR other than the rank reward so they clearly just went completely HAM on in to make you really have to put in some work to get the last couple of levels.

Soon it will become a gameplay loop, contest to see who can do more damage or no-hit challenge or who test skills more effectively. I'm not too much of a try hard person so what attracts me to genshin is lore from the smallest details not just the general story plot, along with the music and world building plus visual But one thing that I find unfortunate is that there are a lot of time-limited events that have a lot of fun minigames for both casual and elitist, even contain important lore pieces or new land like dodoco island but unfortunately only appear once without rotation re-appear, so new players will never experience them

Genshin as it's issues, but the world building and just the world itself is still one of the best I've experienced in years. Climbing some of the large mountain tops and seeing the stunning views, the art direction continually knock it out the park.

some units whip out unique weapons that replace the one you equipped after using a skill or burst so it’s fine

tl;dr: world big, pay attention for hidden quests Asmon, if you do play it, watch out for hidden quests as well. one I can think of off the top of my head rn is reading a piece of paper in a fatui camp after defeating said fatui in araumi, inazuma. it triggers a quest chain related to the grand narukami shrine by talking to the shrine maiden there with the "code" theres a lot of hidden quests that are pretty interesting, hidden puzzles that are all connected as well (like the bird statues in tsurumi island, the named samurais you have to defeat scattered throughout inazuma, and the underwater area at amakumo peak) i think youll enjoy genshin quite a bit if you pay attention to the open world. I personally enjoyed the world quest chains a lot more than the main ones lol

As a vanilla, bc, wrath raider I like to play this game (2 years now). I like the relaxed experience while not be dependent on others. I spend about 50 % less then I did for wow. It’s the perfect game to play a couple of hours after work. Once you understand the Gacha system you can plan out your wishes to get the characters you want. I can’t wait to see what Asmond objectively thinks about it.

he shouldve mentioned that Noelle (the one that you get for the test pull guaranteed) is also a claymore character, and you get one of every element basically for free (dendro needs a certain level to get her)

Power creep isn't really a thing. Each character plays differently from one another and its still a team based combat system which still relies on using 4 characters together, not idividually. Sure one character can theoretically outperform another but the way that character functions can drastically change what other characters they synergize with, and because of how the elements work you'll always find ways to make old characters work with new ones. Even forgotten characters can be revived if the playstyle of a future character perfectly meshes with their abilities. If power creep was as bad as people complain then why are some of the best characters still most of the 4 stars we had since launch? National team would have died out long ago if powercreep truly did exist. Also spiral abyss requires 2 teams so having multiple characters fill similar roles just means you can now have two variations of a team you already like and can adapt to whatever minor gimmicks are present. The addition of dendro actually helped a lot of undesireable characters find a new home and made them viable options for new teams. I dont think there has ever been a time where i got a new character and felt like someone was permanetly replaced by a better version.

I played a ton of genshin when it was released. Haven't since, but I easily put over 100 hours in. I got all the way to the last quest at the time and full cleared the entire map. It's a good game tbh. Doesn't feel liek it is trying to empty your pockets. The only reason I quit is because, after you reach the endgame, the only thing I did was do my daily stuff, and it startedf to feel like a chore... so I realized they got me by the balls.

A lot of dialogue options aren't even real options, but are instead used to continue a sentence or short paragraph. It's also gotten to the point where 90% of the real dialogue options don't even get acknowledged after you select it.

Probably a good time to start reacting to character trailers. New content is coming out soon and even if you don't play soon, it'd be good to get an idea of what people like about the characters.

Asmongold went through a transition from a WoW streamer into his own character, and he didn’t forcefully break-up with his origins: he followed the timeline and transformed naturally. Tectone however was very different, he purposely used Genshin as a tool to build his community and planned to throw the game under the bus so he can walk away with “his” community. But unfortunately for him Genshin went way too big for him to cast away, so he has to choose between being a Genshin content creator for the next 5 years or save his own brand by criticizing the game. He chose the second choice which turned him into a clown for most of the communities but contained his own brand(a damaged brand in my view). Tectone tried to become Asmongold but he did it in a more disgusting way, thats what differentiates them, Asmongold played wow for 10 years and can take his community anywhere, yet Tectone can only manipulate his community towards the direction he wants.

one thing he got wrong is about chests - the motivation to open them is the fact that they give you primogems, which are the gacha currency. Getting XP is not an issue you get enough of that from the main story nowadays

Hey Asmon, I think you would benefit from watching the Honkai Impact cinematics for the lore. They're incredible, and there's even a dedicated video about 12 minutes long, that has a narrated timeline of events should you need further explanation. Overall, you would spend a little over one hour between all cinematics, as well as said video. While I personally recommend the Japanese dub, you may find them in Chinese as well. Both are fantastic, I just happen to be drawn more to Japanese since I've watched plenty of anime since I was 10 years old.

Tectone is the dark side of Genshin content creators. Gacha addiction, always complaining, have around 10% good takes then all 90% unending rant. As far as I watched Asmon, he always have good honest takes without shouting like a madman so I'm eagerly waiting for his Genshin playthrough opinion.

As another Free 2 Pain player, you can 100% finish this game without having to pay. The game even gives you 1 character for each element besides the main character who can swap his/her element

Personally what has kept me playing these past few years is the story and the enjoyment of exploring the new regions. At first I also wanted to keep playing the game for 10 hours a day but thats only possible in the beginning. After this point you either accept genshin for what it is or become a negative nancy like tectone who complains all the time (even though he's not always wrong). I still don't understand why ppl like tectone who don't like the story / skip it and also don't like exploring play genshin.

Yea that Adventure rank will take minimum of 1.5-2 years to max out. Because after AR 55 it takes a lot of exp to level up and there’s isn’t much exp you can farm so its a slow gradual process.

I've been playing genshin at my own pace since it released. I'm still not done with the story. Once I go to enkanomia ill make my next move in sumeru act 2. Before I go to sumeru act 2 tho im going to do all the hangout quest. After that I'll learn about king Deshret in the next region

I believe this is a good way to build attention and hype. I remember it vividly that he said he will stream it on the main channel. And I really hope he does that. 37:35 The mountains don't turn into flat images. They sure use a low res image, but the model doesn't unload or anything like that. Getting near it doesn't make you able to tell the difference, it makes it more noticeable with height, as a flat PNG cannot mimic the angle change on the mountain. So, there is no flat image in the distance, there isn't anything like that cheap tech. For example, I was able to determine the exact position of the Inazuma electro storm in 1.3, half a year before Inazuma released, in which I have a marker on the storm boss, just 20m away.

He spent $300,000 on a mobile game about exploring and experiencing an anime story so now his characters are OP and one shot everything in the game and there's no challenge to it, so now he spends all day complaining about how a game he doesn't like is "inherently bad" like a fucking child. Asmongold had the absolute best take of all time about recent WoW expansions and how much "content" they provide. There are too many good games on the market and I simply do not have time to devote my life to one single game. Genshin has the most respect for my time of any live-service game I've ever played. You can spend 15 minutes a day, then maybe an hour or two over the weekend to complete limited time events, and you will always be caught up and earning the maximum amount of all currencies in time for new banners with new characters. Then, every year you can sit down and have a nice 50 hours of fresh gameplay in a brand new region with a whole new story chapter, and another 20 hours every 3 months or so when new mini regions are added. Then, in AAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLL that other time in between you can do, get this, *whatever the fuck else you want with your life.* Utterly insane, I know.

Game artists when they learn this usually take the shortcut so the amount of people who do classical texturing are those who took the steep learning curve as opposed to the easier one.

I played genshin because of my friends, but stayed around because of the pretty deep combat mechanics. Easily one of the best i have played. If you think what he covered here is pretty in depth, you cant be more wrong. Theres things from internal cooldown, to elemental gauge theory and elemental application speed, all of which will a difference to whether your team comp works well or is suboptimal. Meaning in each team comp type, theres different ways of playing it.

its actually kind of validating to see somebody play genshin for the first time after avoiding it like the plague. they're almost always super surprised that its actually a really competent game. thats probably why you don't see much toxicity come from within the community itself, they're already getting it from everyone else. i don't even play the game anymore but i maintain that most if not all of its major problems stem from the fact that its a gacha game. that boi tectone is going THROUGH it tho. its like he wants this casual waifu game to be an esport or something

50:05 The thing is, everything you can spend real money on is guaranteed. If you buy genesis crystals you know exactly what you're getting, and you can use them to buy skins or convert them into primos, which you can then use to get more resin. You aren't actually buying the gambling currency, but you can choose afterwards to use it that way. Therefore even if there was a law against spending real money for an uncertain outcome I believe genshin wouldn't be affected by it.

Things are a little harder in co op because you are so used to your team and in co op you get limited to 1-2 characters depending on how many u are playing with. Max 4 ppl per co op, and max 4 characters

If the primogems slow down as you spend time in the game, it doesn't even matter that much. If you play for a long time, you will hit a point where you have so many freaking characters to level and ascend that you really aren't hurting for any particular element or weapon type. Now I don't really want any more characters to babysit, and I just save mine up for months and months until my favorite 5-star comes back on the gacha. Or maybe a cool character that I like comes out and I've been saving so it's all good. Just make sure you save enough primos to do 90 wishes before you pull and you'll get a 5-star even if it isn't the one you were angling for.

How can someone spent 300K in this game? I pay nothing and still got every character except ten 5 stars I didn't pull for to guarantee me a certain character. And I got a lot of 5 star weapons when I lost my 50/50 pity.
