Dude, mad respect. Putting my family over my dream job is a sacrifice I hope I'll never have to make. You're a great example to husbands and dads around the world.
The fact that 2 sets were released after you left with a “TC” tile prove you were well liked by your colleagues. That is Gold. Carry the good memories further ahead. Love your reviews from an ex -insider !
Imagine having to explain to your kids you once left a job at Lego for them. The guilt would tear them apart! Love all the mini builds, though, so I'm not complaining.
@@TiagoCatarino Hello Tiago!! I have many of your sets! New suscribe here, this channel must go BIG!! Btw, between the T-Rex Rampage, the Mickey&Minie (18+ Set) Statues and the recent Haunted House (with your tomb on it LOL) Wich Would Be Your Pick? Money is scarce nowadays 😂
In the very least, I’m glad to know that you didn’t leave on bad terms. Sounds like you were a well loved colleague and friend at Lego and I appreciate the videos you make! I recently discovered them, and I really love your insider perspective.
As a Lego lover, I can truly say that this is the most sad video that I ever watched. But someone once said "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened" or something like that. And another thing: go Portugal 🇵🇹
Forca Tiago!
Obrigado Pedro! :) Lentamente estou a entrar no ritmo, conteúdo LEGO a caminho! :) Obrigado pela sugestão, MOC's é sem dúvida uma área onde me quero focar no canal!
This is such a powerful video! Thank you for showing us your last day. It’s such an impressive thing that you would leave the job for your family, and I think that it shows that you are a very strong person. Stick around and keep being an inspiration to so many, both as a builder and a person ❤️
I discovered your videos here only recently and subscribed to your channel right away and am always inspired by your ideas. I can well understand that it must have been a very emotional moment when you finished your last day at work and said goodbye to your colleagues for the last time. But: Lego is not the world and never really was. It's not the name of the company that's important, but the fun you have when you build what you got for your money. And when we have fun, it doesn't matter what name is on the packaging. I really like your tutorials and I hope you will continue to delight us with your great ideas for a very long time.
I'm sorry you had to leave LEGO I'm sure you would have gone though all the options as they said Happy Wife = Happy Life...work life balance thing is hard I bet your wife missed the sunshine...😁 good luck on here you've got my support ❤❤👍
wow! you were one of the reasons i was not hired last 2016! hahaha I also had a skype interview with Jamie, it was around April or May. I received a Ferrari, nexo and Friends set to create a model, or lego assignment. I did apply again last april, but didnt manage to get my visa on time so they put me on October- batch and I was about to go to Billund last week for the 2-day workshop but I backout because my wife had an accident and as you said it; family first. I wish I can ask you a few questions if you have time. they told me they will consider me on next year's recruitment. any advice or words from you would be a big help. 😊😊😊
Good luck! If you got invited for a workshop once, you can do it twice for sure :) But family was the biggest reason for me to quit. As simple as that :)
You may have been there for only a few years, but in that time you designed multiple sets that I think will be remembered by the community for a long time to come. You've certainly left your mark!
Wow! What a story! You have seen LEGO from both perspectives! I subscribed. I would love to work at LEGO someday, but I wouldn't want to have to move to Denmark. Does LEGO have any jobs here in the U.S or online? And what does that look like?
Yesterday I finished building the LEGO Titanic with my partner, and I remembered the TC Easter egg and I got so excited to explain the story to my partner (who didn't grow up with LEGO). Both of us were skeptical about the Titanic due to the size and cost, but after watching your video I fell in love. My partner wasn't convinced until after we started building it and now it's on display as an artwork with lighting in a dedicated display box. Today I remembered your old LEGO Titanic review video and as a trip down memory lane I watched it again with my partner, and then subscribed and binge watched many of your review videos and already added a couple of sets to my LEGO wish list! It must have been hard to leave LEGO but to start a RU-vid channel and support your family is a brave new direction, and I commend you for it. Thank you for all you do for the LEGO community, besr wishes and success for your future endeavours, and I look forward to seeing more content on your channel 🙏
I already built something fun today! :D A very emotional video, I must say... Looking forward to the population of your channel. I want to see as many AFOL things: MOCs, tutorials, time lapses, building tips... Good luck with your new occupation. Enjoy it, it's still LEGO. :)
"Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life." I was lucky enough to be ... basically a journalist.. for the Canadian Armed Forces. I moved eight times in 22 years. I stumbled on your videos shortly after I "retired" from 25 years in the military to take a new job that would mean no more moving. It's 2023 now and I have no idea if you'll see a new comment on a 3 yr old video, but congratulations on your success. The gingerbread house was the first set I bought on my new lego journey and it just gained value knowing you created it. All the best!
Nice, everything is so familiar in Billund :) Was just there in June 2019 and also in the P-Shop and in Kornmarken. Just found your channel and will surely follow it!
I found your channel after watching David's review of the Titanic set, with its TC Easter egg, and via a few of your more recent uploads. Wow, the sadness of leaving this dream job is palpable. Total respect to you for putting your family first. Now I understand the context behind that Titanic Easter egg. Your old colleagues clearly have a lot of respect and admiration for you. The Titanic set is such a fitting tribute to you, given your pitch for it. In this video you mention an amazing set that's yet to be released. Is that the Titanic?!
Clout: ingluince of power especially in politics and business. So that means you can still suggest something to lego. Where as I have no clout and cannot
@@ingridwinn9082 I see! No I don't think I can now, I'm out of there. But maybe I could do some submissions in LEGO Ideas! That's probably the only viable way I could do it now :)
Family culture in Iberia is like few other places in the world- I miss my time living in Madrid every day- and Billund is sooo remote. I'm sorry that you can't do both and still make amazing LEGO commercial models, but will be subscribing to wish you well and see what comes next.
My comment over at a German fansite was like 'What a downer, nearly broke my heart. Thanks for the great set (Gingerbread House of course) Mr. Catarino'. 10 seconds later I'm following a new RU-vid Channel. :D Happy to be here and hoping to see some LEGO magic in the future.
1 year later we can all agree it was a difficult, but great decision! The universe is giving back! And with LAN project as well, you never really quit your job haven't you? 😂😂😂 abraço!
I just discovered your channel accidentally and am so glad I did. I've seen quite a number of review channels on here and your reviews are so clever, detailed, well explained, genuine and honest. Your excellent reviews convinced me in acquiring several Lego sets I was on the fence on whether to acquire or not. This particular personal video was quite moving for me. After seeing 10 of your video reviews is that I now discovered you were a model designer for Lego. I had no idea about your experience with Lego, the company. Anyways, keep up the great work. You have a subscriber and fan for life. Muito obrigado!
Family always comes first no matter what, a job is a job and can always be replaced but family cannot. I'm not sure how it works but couldn't you still design for Lego and not be directly employed by them? Anyways good luck to you
I found this channel a couple of days ago and have been binge watching it. I was going crazy from not being able to place your accent... Portuguese! Phew. Greetings from Brazil, brother.
It is sad to leave a dream job but sometimes the best and most rewarding things lie ahead, just found this and subscribed I like Lego I had some of the space 80s stuff and will be peeking now and then, best wishes on your adventure :) salutes from Latin America.
I write with conviction that you designed the best model in the Creator Expert line for Christmas. (lego gingerbread house ) Thank you very much for making the Lego fan collection more beautiful. Despite the design giants in Lego, your model is still the best.
I want to work for the LEGO company but I don’t know where to go I wanna be a Model desighner I wanna create LEGO sets I wanna live my dream where do I go?
Hi Tiago! just stumbled upon this video while trying to look for career opportunities in Lego. May I please request you to make a youtube video on describing how to build lego based on the manual. I mean, it's great if you are able to come out with video that provide manual for the blid lego builders to build lego set.
Just my impression from watching this video, seems a bit depressing or kinda down. Not sure I’d want to watch your videos if you weren’t a bit happier and upbeat. Just an observation
Is that building located in what country Mr. Tiago?, and pleasure to meet an employee of Lego group🤩, respect equally good luck in your new job Mr. Tiago Catarino
Family does come first . Too bad Lego couldn’t work with you remotely at least, or part time consulting gig. I wonder what you do now in Portugal for work. Unless it is just RU-vid (and family of course 😅). Love the channel nevertheless, thank you 🙂
