This is a beautifully conceived video. Very meditative, nicely shot and expertly edited, just really nice. A piece of art, actually. I've watched about a dozen of your videos over the past few months, they're all good, but this one stands out. Your life reminds me of when I was in my 20's. I pretty much did the same thing - traveled everywhere and would street perform to make money (kind of like you making money on videos). I'm glad to see you have a lot of subscribers, but you deserve way more views on your videos. Excellent work.
I have heard similar advice but not quite in the same way. Thanks for reminding me that I should try a different way when the way I'm going about a certain thing is not leading to the results I need/want. Not trying out new ways is admitting failure without even first considering all other ways to succeed.
in the south of France, same belief about not going to swim just after eating as your body will concentrate on the digestion so you will feel colder when entering the water at the same time. On the Riviera, our Mediterranean sea is 24/26 in summer, could decreasd to 18 in case of few days of north wind.. but I remember I also experiences water at 16 when visiting my grandparents in Bretagne.. but I have now strong experience after living in Finland for 15 years.. when you are used to jump to ice water after sauna... :)
It must come from somewhere but as a kid I was also told that if I crossed my eyes in windy conditions my eyes would get stuck... Was in my thirties before I realized the truth. Still don't do it though 😂
I was at the beach that day too! I was at Coney Island, a late summer day treat, went in for a minute!😂 that was cold! But a beautiful day to be on the beach
Wow. I'm surprised that you even smoked. Congratulations on quitting. I smoked for 45 years and enjoyed every cigarette, so I know how hard it is to quit. It will be 2 years on Christmas Eve for me. I hope you never smoke again. Your videos are inspirational and enjoyable to watch.
I'm still loving your outdoor cooking setup. I should go back to doing this the next time I go out. You can swim down here near Charleston, SC this time of year. It will still be cold but not as bad as what you went through up there.
Hello again Mary Jane, I should try and keep up with your videos but life is too busy.I didn't know you smoked, but good on you for eliminating a vice in your life. Until next time !
Congratulations on quitting Mary Jane! I tried to write a book about smoking once, I worked on it for years and it grew to 30 chapters, but I was never happy with it and in the end put it to one side. One day I hope I’ll get back to it. In the uk the number of people smoking has gone down significantly, one thing that struck me a lot when visiting Italy was the number of people smoking. Currently I’m in Basque Country (Euskadi) in Spain and it’s really common to see, which has got me thinking about smoking again - your video has such perfect timing! I think smoking casts a spell on people, which can come on without the influence of nicotine, and for me that spell didn’t so much as break with a snap but slowly evaporate, without expectation, yet one day I realised I hadn’t smoked for a few weeks and decided to recognise myself as a non-smoker. Never looked back. I was 30 when I stopped, in my twenties it tortured me as I rarely enjoyed it, I felt like a slave, which compelled me to write about it. I smoked most frequently with other people and came to realise that it was, for me, about belonging to a group and the fear of being outcast socially or betraying the group. Part of the change meant spiritual growth, to see that the whole cosmos is a single thing and we all belong in it. I joined a bigger group. Part of the change meant growing in confidence, which comes from developing skills to understand and overcome your problems, today I visited the peace museum in Gernika and they offered a list of tools we can use to bring peace to conflict. I will list them below as I believe they can adapted to the inner conflict that is trying to quit smoking, for anyone who is struggling with this. “To focus on the pleasant surprise of the discomfort fading away” Your video contains a lot of wisdom, thank you 🙏
The tools used to bring peace 1.Firm dialogue 2.Respect for human rights 3.Looking to the future 4.Honouring our fellow human beings 5.Putting ourselves in the other party's position 6.Listening to different opinions 7.Searching for common ground 8.Mediating to unite the wishes of both parties 9.Inventing and creating 10.Gearing the situation towards reconciliation 11.Admitting our mistakes 12.Thinking positively 13.Investigating and discovering other realities 14.Confronting postures in a positive fashion 15.Reviewing laws and regulations 16.Not identifying persons and problems 17.Standing up to injustice 18.Making our postures more flexible - Gernika Peace Museum Foundation
Quello che ti è scappato secondo me è qualcos'altro...
what trying the polar bear Plunge? not the best idea as you could get really shocked by the cold. also good on you to stop smoking as its really bad for you. redirect those funds into something constructive like model building or art or what have you. i do model building as a way to restore my hands after a big medical episode two years ago. its actually a good way to lose yourself for a few hours before coming back to reality. you could start learning boxing or wrestling or just doing the gym a couple times a week to get into shape. its actually worth it too.
is there nowdays cookware to sell with some element of touch with the user made of a material that conduct the heat that is destined to contain ? why? why didint they use some thermal insulating material? wood?plastic?ceramics?minerals?carbon fiber?...? is it significantly more expensive? has the user to buy some isolation material anyway?rag?globes?..? one for all? esthetic? could it to has some material that isolate that element of contact and the rest of the cookware? is it a competitive adventage in the natural selection of the market?why? pros? cons? alternatives?
When a smoker says five, he usually means at least 20 😂. Chewing sweet wood, a little exercise and three months is actually enough. Quitting is easy, but you should avoid trying.
Congratulations on quitting smoking Mary Jane. I smoked for 25 years & still have occasional dreams about cigarettes ! Seeing the price of a pack is always a good deterrent. I do on occasion buy a cigarette for a dollar from a neighbor & enjoy it like a shot of top shelf liquor. I really enjoy my meals much more since quitting as I don't look forward to that after meal cigarette. Say hi to The Actionkid if you see him in New York ! He's back from the 🇬🇧.
@WhatashameMaryJane I used to smoke also but I don't like Hookah. Vaping is popular glad you stopped but Italy is very different from NYC California is very similar to Italy. Nba basketball is in Italy which I'm surprised didn't know
I am surprised as an athlete you would ever smoke cigarettes. Good for you for quitting. Does this cold water challenge mean you are going to join the Polar Bears in Coney Island this year? I grew up waiting 30 minutes to swim after a meal. (Canadian, Dutch, Irish heritage). The only reason to wait is the same reason you wouldn't go running after a big meal; cramps and sluggishness. If you're just getting wet and splashing around there is no need to wait. If the sign says "Swimming Prohibited" I would probably not go in. It would have been better if it had said "Swim at your own risk".
To me it's been always said 3-4 hours after a meal, or some would dare say if you have to dive in, do it right after you ate within the first 20-30 minutes. Also, they never talked about cramps and sluggishness, but indigestion or death (no joke!) ahah
