Personally (trans), I thought it was nice to hear you explicitly mention that you were being mindful of the language you use as a content creator. I dont think saying "you guys" is the most aggregious example of unnecessary gendering, but the good energy radiated from the people who do care enough to use inclusive language is always appreciated. Like, even if I am not personally bothered by it, it just feels nice to be considered. I wasn't one of the comments (if there were some) that asked you to change your language, but thank you anyway for talking about it.

This is such a great look - it's so cute! That Lisa Eldridge Foundation is so *chefs kiss*. Also, in regards to gender neutral language, I am queer and have worked in queer spaces. And some people use 'guys', language changes over time and can be made more neutral. However, I love to use 'party people'. It's fun. And people can pick their party (are you a slumber party person? Political party? Party of 1? Tea party?).

In college our RAs were taught to use “y’all” as a gender neutral option and it’s stuck with me since then! I find it as easy and natural to say as “you guys” and have noticed plenty of others use it in both casual and professional settings, so it seems generally accepted 🤷‍♀️

Yup. When I had it I also had a little one and the husband went down first, so no rest for me. But, I got intermittent brain fog and dizzy spells for a few weeks afterward. Hit me like a wave at random times. I hope it's more short-lived for you!

I really feel like it accomplishes what you had planned - adding the darkness/focus/length on your outer eyes that you'd usually use a darker shadow for - while giving a rockin' alternative look to that technique.

Also, side note: I consider "you guys" to be gender neutral and use it all the time in casual convo so I wouldn't worry to much about it. Some things matter more to some people, but I don't think "guys" hurts anyone rather than them being concerned about inclusion in word choice :/

I’m sitting here watching and your family and mine are seriously some of the last on the planet to get “the Rona!” My husband went down last Tuesday and I went down Saturday. It’s been much like a bad cold but the head to toe aches were on another level. So interesting (to me) that you experienced the same thing. My husband definitely got hit way worse and my 12 year old is walking around with nothing more than a mild sore throat. We are all ready to get back to normal but thankful we got through the last 2.5 years without getting taken down by the more aggressive prior variants. Pretty sure we caught the current BA.5, which is so contagious. Take care!

I had irregular bleeding a while ago and when I finally got a doc to see me he asked about when I had gotten vaccinated for COVID because they're seeing a correlation between irregular periods and the vaccination. So it would make sense to see the same with the virus. Glad that seemed to settle some before the rest of your symptoms came on.

Kaja's concealer is truly beautiful. it's almost incongruent: lightweight but pigmented, easy to blend but has medium coverage, emollient but not dewy, can slightly settle in the fine lines but you can't really see it, can be used as sheer foundation but it's pigmented. this is what people want the Glossier skin tint (I use that too) to be. biochemically, it behaves the same way without being overly dewy, while offering more coverage. ps. "guy → s ←" and "dude" are culturally gender neutral. in the East and West coast saying "bro" is weird and very contrived; outside of RU-vid actually. it's almost always "dude" and it's for all genders.

I took a Covid test because a contact tested positive and I work with someone on a liver transplant list. I tested positive for 9 days and never had a single symptom. I had never been less sick in my life (probably from not working for a week 🤣) I isolated to protect others but I bet there’s a lot of people who’ve had or have Covid without ever knowing it.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans died and our healthcare system and its workers were pushed to the brink because Covid can be extremely dangerous. Healthy vaccinated and boosted people fair well and and a number of people don’t have symptoms. Your doctor would LOVE to walk you through anything you’re not sure of.

Hi Kackie! I have PCOS and I've had irregular periods! Some months, I wouldn't have it, and there are some months where I would have it for 2-3 weeks. Post-COVID season though, my period flow changed when I was vaccinated.

Omg thank you for this!!! I acquired it back in Jan and dealt with an insanely painful case of congestion, throat wise, but felt like I was mostly over it by the 2 week mark (and the pain way before then). My hubs, however, acquired it in May and got to the point of needing an inhaler to deal with the residual cough (and pretty sure he still jas to use it occasionally) and I keep tellling him that he has every right to advocate for himself and ask for an xray bc this just doesn't feel okay/normal to me (healthcare worker but not a doc).

“You guys” has ALWAYS been used interchangeably for males and females. People seriously need to chill. It’s not that serious.

I honestly think that's part of people's issue with it. Phrases like "Hey women" or "hey girls" or "hey ladies" wouldn't be used interchangeably or presumed to refer to both women and men. But we have words like fireman, postman, policeman or mankind that people use to refer to both men and women. I do know that there are gender neutral versions of these terms that are often used but if someone used one of the versions that wasn't gender neutral I don't think anyone would assume they meant men in those fields specifically. The issue is that male is the default

Exactly! There is no reason to have others feel bad for a figure of speech. If we had to CONSTANTLY be nervous about every little thing we said because it MIGHT offend someone else. 🙄🙄 Holy shit. Let's all relax a little. Some things aren't that serious.

@@3llemc BUT it is still ok if someone wants to use that figure of speech. To see the way Kackie had felt she needed to retract and got nervous that it "slipped out" 😖 like really?? Just because someone feels so strongly about it that THEY want to stop saying it - doesn't mean that WE ALL have to because it will make them feel better. 🤷‍♀️ this is a microcosm for what is going on in the world at large ATM it seems. It speaks volumes for where we are at this moment in society IMO.

while I absolutely agree that “you guys” is generally meant in a gender neutral sense, it’s still technically a gendered term and it’s ok if it makes people feel uncomfortable (as with all language). No one is forcing Kackie to change her language she is just being mindful and considerate of the impact (and potential impact) of her words and I think that is admirable.

Yeah "guys" is usually a generalized word for a group. It's kind of like in Spanish, if you're referring to a group of people, the default is the masculine "nos" regardless if you're referring to a group of men or a group of men and women and all in between, but no feminine nouns are used that way. I don't think it's that big of a deal to use it, and I don't think it's that big of a deal if someone's choosing not to.

I find both "y'all" and "you guys" to be gender neutral. So no problem for me with either...

Just my little armchair diagnosis if you're interested. I don't think it's necessarily covid that messed up your period but rather the covid vaccine, especially if you've maybe gotten a booster recently?. I say that because I remember a few (pro-vaccine) woman on my skincare subreddit looking for advice to help with a bad outbreak of hormonal acne soon after getting the vaccine and as well as that stating that it had messed up their periods horribly. I don't want to start a debate lol but I think that makes more sense since your issues were a whole month before getting covid. Either way its likely covid related and I'm sure everything will be fine 😊 hopefully you and your family feel better soon.😁
