But birds can see in way more color than we can, like Super HD vision " Can birds see in color? Ironically, the answer is that birds see many more colors than humans can, but birds are also capable of seeing many more colors than they have in their plumage. Birds have additional color cones in their retina that are sensitive to ultraviolet range so they see colors that are invisible to humans. "
+Wart Dog www.psychologytoday.com/blog/what-shapes-film/201406/why-you-can-t-take-pigeon-the-movies Not sure if the same applies to Cockatoos, but there is a grain of truth to it.
This little wild bird who roosted in my heater box did not like TV. It wanted music. We listened to music full time for 7 months. Sounds like torture, but it was one of my retirement goals to broaden my music listening, and that sure did the trick. I never suspected that birds were so intelligent. It listened to me from before I woke up in the morning until I was asleep at night. The bird had curiosity and could figure things out. The way in which it prompted me to play music changed over time. One of the things I disliked about the bird was it tweeted when I yawned. I tried yawning silently, but it could hear that, too, and tweeted. It's a gas listening to music with a bird. It liked all music, even the weird stuff, but it liked big band swing music the most because of all the soloists. It loved the soloists, like in the 5th movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, when the soloist would start singing, the bird would tweet each one. It also liked crescendos. It tweeted when music began to be repetitive. It would tweet when a song was about to end. When the music volume went soft, the bird would tweet quieter. It flat tweeted You Tube when it interrupted the music. It would flat tweet me if I made a noise during the music. It listened to my keyboard and mouse clicks to predict if I was going to play music. It had an insta-tweet that it would use for various things. A couple of times, it insta-tweeted when the music burst suddenly very loud. The problem is that it would hear the music and do it's insta-tweet before I heard the music get loud. I think birds process sounds in their brain quicker than humans. The bird would listen to the first few bars of a new piece of music, as if it were getting to know the music, and then it would tweet. But if I put on the Beatles, it would tweet right away. I think it recognized Louse Armstrong, too.
@@karehhartig7287 - It's one of those stories that I can't tell people in real life. They'll think I'm nuts, and I wouldn't blame them. It's a good memory, though. I miss the bird. Glad it's gone because it's weird being listened to night and day.
We had a goffin cockatoo. Small type of cockatoo. I taught him to slide down a bannister in our house. It was easy because the stairway was in two parts, it switched direction halfway down. So he didn’t have to slide far. I knew in my gut he’d be ok, so we had to give him a sort of push the first time. Sounds horrible but we loved him, we were gentle with him, but the first time he tried it he was balking. So we sort of gently pushed him, not in a rough way. He was just a small parrot, easily could get hurt. Anyway - he loved it after realizing what I was trying to show him. He willingly, repeatedly slid down that bannister after that. It was a good, wide bannister, not your normal narrow type. So one of us would let him him go at the top and I’d catch him at the bottom. It was great, as soon as I caught him I’d lift him up high on my fingers, over my head, and say “Hooray !!!, big boy”!!!!!, and every time he spread his wings out in victory. He was so proud 😂 It was the funniest damn thing. 😂😂😂😂😂❤️
Max's temper tantrums tickle me so much lol. The way he yells at Dan and then the silent treatment with the little sway back and forth like he's fuming lol. I love the way he storms up the stairs too lol. Such a mega attitude from such a little creature. I love everything about Max ;-)
I love it. If you understood the childish antics, and appealing natural acting and characterization of Max, and it is natural to birds to have tantrums, watch nature, well you would be laughing hard... love this bird.
@ 2:15-- No wonder he's upset..That Chrisley guy is very strange. When I saw the previews even I was traumatized.. my husband found me standing on the stair banister hitting my head and rocking back and forth "
It’s probably a good thing we don’t know exactly what Max is saying when he’s upset because the videos would probably get censored. Who needs a tv when you have Mr. Max! 😇
I love when he’s caught stewing in the corner it’s like he’s trying to play it off like oh yes this hat is very bendy and orange yes this is definitely a hat you have here
I love the way Max glides up the stairs. I know they do get jealous when you focus on other things. My parrot April once removed half the letters from my keyboard when I left the room for a minute. She hated to see me petting something other than her!!!
1:15 Human: “... Big baby bird” Parrot’s thoughts: “I’m not speaking to this guy anymore”. Turns his back. Walks upstairs after the below-his-dignity comment :D
"Are you a big baby bird?" "... My lawyer has informed me that, by responding to that question, I may incriminate myself in some way, and I have been advised to exercise my right to remain silent."
He's definitely asking for an apology. 🤗 Listening with headphones on there is not doubt. This is Max "par excellence" with a number of his "I'm really angry at you" sounds and movements.😠 He even turns his back on Dan at one point.😁
@@stephendelvacchio9335 - Birds can also ride dogs around the house. Used to have a cockatiel that was in love with Holly the Labrador-cross. They used to have a lovely time together.
Im so happy someone else felt the sheer hilarity just burst through watching and hearing him walk up those stairs...i literally have a tear in my eye writing this!😅
@@theresesmilingmoon9186 Uhm yes they do get mad! They have emotions just like we do! They're not just stressed, they can be angry, afraid or sad just like us!
@THERESE SMILINGMOON Different bird species, different intelligence level and emotions. If you don't know about them, I'd suggest Googling it, or finding something on RU-vid. There's a lot of information to be found. It's really fascinating stuff, especially when checking it out for the first time. You'll never look at birds (especially parrots and corvidae) the same way again. :)
Greg Egan Lol... I grew up with one that my grandmother had, and when I was young, by best friend that lived in the apartment below me had one. Yeah, sometimes their fits and yelling can get to you, but the emotional complexity, funny antics, and affection they have for you makes it all worth it. The stuff Max does here reminds me so much of the two birds I became close with.
dan and max. you just do not know how much during lockdown in particularly you have both cheered my mum dad and i up. i started watching then i told mum once she found youtube on their new smart tv. she is on youtube everynight when unable to sleep. so she has watched and watched max and yourself. and we have all watched also. we turn on everynight to check if their is a new video. our favourite is this one. thanks for your videos .
Loved it when max through a tantrum while sliding down the banister and shouting at dan max walking up the stairs and laughing he under stands what is said to him good bond between max and dad
This is the best, most blessed, entertainment! Thank you!!We understand how Max feel’s about the TV. Our Golden Retriever has issues with us watching ours. She is convinced those people and animals..are in our house. We sneak into our bedroom while she’s sleeping…to watch ;-) if she catches us she plays rescue 911… a barking starts to alert the entire valley!!
jessica cuvilier yes. Yes it is. They're like the terrible twos and threes their whole life. They'll be nice and cute one second, then something makes them upset and they throw a tantrum, then they're nice again. My uncle Randy had a parrot from its hatching, grew up around it. His was a tad more mild mannered and calm, but once she got a tantrum going she would scream "let the bodies hit the floor" and throw cups at whoever she was unhappy with. Or if she was just generally upset she would run around the living room and scream at everything, then she'd just climb on top of her cage and just sit there quietly till she felt better or till Randy came to talk to her.
Wow he's really upset. I had a cockatiel years ago who did the swaying and the open beak hissing whenever I wore a black shirt. They all have their own little quirks and fears
HAHAHAAA!!! I just love Max when he does his incorrigible sputtering tantrums!!! SO FUNNY!!!! OMG: then he stomps up the stairs just like an angry toddler, and sulks for a while!!! This bird cracks me up!!! I just discovered these videos in the past couple of weeks......I've become addicted.....and when my Cocker Spaniel hears this bird: he comes to watch him too!!!! Thanks for the laughs!!
he's NOT a toddler. he's a BIRD. They do not understand your words enough to have a conversation. It's all mimic and sound. These birds are SO sensitive......
First time I watched this video, it had maybe 200 views. I love this video. I told everybody I knew to watch this. Now in 2019, it's good to see it at 1,320,649 views. Keep up the amazing work Mr. Max and your human Dan🙂🕊
