I just cried through the whole video. Im just struggling so bad with menopause, hypothyroid on carnivore and not feeling well still, and just 3lb weight loss. I was about to give up. Im pretty sure God wanted me to see this today
Yes where I lost I went through menopause. That was crap. Nobody told me what was gonna happen. There’s no instruction manual. I remember being so stressed and working and eating everything under God‘s green earth and finally had to go get some primer because I still had to work, but I couldn’t sleep and with not sleeping on the stress and I brought myself to emergency room one night thought it was having a heart attack trying to take care of my daughter. I was a little crazy girl, so I understand completely. It’s a struggle but once you get through it done, it’s only a one time thing we’re not gonna do that again, here’s love to you and your family. I hope you got through it doing OK stay the course love from South Dakota.
If you are struggling with Thyroid watch the video with Dr. Ken Berry and Dr. Brownstein. It is fascinating. They talk about Iodine and the Thyroid. There is a free Audible book called the Iodine Crises that Brownstein wrote the foreward to. I think it teaches a full nutritional protocol for aiding iodine supplementation. Brownstein also has a few books about Iodine, Thyroid and Adrenals.
I have lost 9 pounds total. From 134 to 125. I am 5’3”. I fast 18 hours daily. And watch my calories. I know the carnivore people mostly don’t watch calories. I do not lose weight unless I limit calorie intake. I strive for 1800 calories - no more. I don’t drink anything but salt water, lemon salt water. One day a week I have coffee with heavy whipping cream and salt. Just once a week. Otherwise I gain weight. I do not eat a lot of butter. Just a couple of tbsps a day in the pan to make eggs. I’m stalled at 125.
LESSONS LEARNED ABOUT WEIGHTLOSS on carnivore -> I’ve learned two weeks into carnivore that to lose weight you do NOT and should not cook your food in extra fat or feel the need to add extra fat to your meals. Cooking the meat in its own juices and fats is enough. Eating eggs with a pad of butter incorporated into the eggs is enough. 3 of my family members started this carnivore all at once eating the same meals. It was me (I want to lose 10 pounds), my daughter (teen needs to lose 15 pounds ) and my significant other (needs to lose 75-80 pounds). My teen daughter lost weight 2.4 pounds in a week of starting the diet. She has had significant issues with weight and even though it sounds like it’s not a lot of weight for her to lose, without going into it here, it is, and she has gone up and down doing various vegan and vegetarian options. But while I was cooking for her and my Sig Other and myself she lost the 2.4 pounds. Then she moved to school and began gaining weight. While trouble shooting to see what she was doing wrong we finally figured out that she was adding butter bombs and eating pork belly to increase her fat intake. Back home we were consistently losing a pound a day eating simple beef with eggs (a pad of butter added to the eggs) and for me a small amount of ketchup). Now that we figured out my daughter’s weight gain on carnivore was due to increasing butter and fat, mainly butter, she stopped doing that and started eating the way I made her meals at home and the weight is now coming off again. So, guys, 3 different people at different ages and different weights and weight goals and we have discovered the significance of not adding significant extra fat or any fat at all other than the fat in the food to the meals. There’s NO need. Be aware of listening to influencers that tell you to increase fats. It can significantly stall your weightloss. And it can increase your weight as it did to my daughter. Take my experience as an example. My family is literally a case study in this diet at an early stage. Two weeks ago.
Thank you for this. I started carnivore about 4 weeks ago and have not lost anything. I was carb cycling before starting carnivore and had lost 38lbs doing that. I have actually gained 3lbs since starting carnivore. I am eating pork belly and adding butter and extra bacon grease to things. I am going to stop doing that now and see if that will help move the scale. I already walk literally all day at work. I fulfill online grocery orders in a supercenter so I am walking and lifting heavy totes 8 hours a day 5 days a week so plenty of movement lol
I gained body fat on carnivore when I started eating pork belly and too much butter. Pork belly is just so delicious and easy to overeat, as well as calorie dense.
I get your point and this is all well and good...HOWEVER, if you are terribly constipated, the remedy (according to Dr. Ken Berry and Dr. Anthony Chaffee on here) is to EAT MORE BUTTER (OR MORE FATTY MEATS). I literally cannot STAND fatty meat, it makes me feel like throwing up, so my only alternative to prevent HORRIBLE CONSTIPATION is to add more butter.
Tears are are rolling down my cheek. To be given affirmation that despite the slow weight loss, good things are happening. The critics are so loud it’s hard to hear the truth for all the noise. Thank You both.
Thank you so much Kelly Hogan, for letting us hear Kathie's story, and your own. You are one of the only sincere and consistent voices on this platform - your voice rings true, in a sea of misinformation and disingenuousness..you are a siren of health. God Bless You. X
66 complete strangers, and Kelly Hogan! have taken the time to affirm your dietary choices!! But the truth is, you KNOW in your heart, that the critics are wrong.. and that you are RIGHT in what you are doing..so keep on keeping on.. 🧡
Truth will always be shut down... Soldier on... Simple facts with truth...will ALWAYS prevail/along with self confidence. If I could say....slower the better!!! The body will adapt and less loose skin in the "Long Term". Patience, and a desire for the correct way of nutrition. Kindness.

This is so inspiring……I’m 70 & after decades of yo yo dieting I was afraid I’d trashed my metabolism…….I’m 40 days on carnivore & have only lost a few pounds but I’m shrinking all the time…..I’m in this for the long haul! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm 70 too. Only feel and see inches and inches going.... Without losing much weight. Gonna cut out heavy cream and butter plus less eggs. Much love to all Carnivores traveling this awesome road 💕
Oh my GAW! THANK YOU! Been feeling down in the dumps about all of this. My blood glucose was stable but high, I put on 10 lbs to start. I'm so glad this community is so open to sharing with each other the dark parts too. I would have thrown in the towel had I not seen this. Dr. Kiltz preaching fasting as well. LONG LIVE CARNIVORE!
I am carnivore for almost 4 years. I walked and did weights…I still could not end my weight loss stall…until I cut out ALL dairy and most of the butter……
I’ve been eating meat and eggs (with occasional dairy) for the last 80 days and lost 20 pounds in the first month. Then I had both knees replaced at the same time and, of course, suffered significant physical trauma. Six weeks later, I haven’t lost any more weight, but I know my body is having to heal. My surgeon is astonished that my incisions healed so quickly and that there’s been very little swelling. My focus right now is on recovery and rehabilitation, but I intend to stay the carnivore course and trust the healing process.
Kelly Hogan, you are a wonderful friend. I came to carnivore through your interview with Dr Berry. (13 years meat only). It gave me the confidence to go carnivore. I have reversed metabolic syndrome and lost 90lbs in fat. I have found plenty of other great youtube sites since, but you and Dr Ken got me on the path to health. ❤ you forever, Kelly!
@daughter_of_Yahuah Fasting, yes. I do a 36-hour fast 2 or 3 times a month. I'm not big on butter, but when I fry in lard or tallow, I pour the whole contents of the pan onto the plate. I don't count macros, but I eat a lot of eggs and a lot of oily fish. Also, a lot of chicken thighs and drumsticks - not the lean breast meat. You can find my story on an interview I did with CARNIVORE SOLDIER. Episode 1 of his series MISSION CARNIVORE. I give Kelly a big mention on that. Kelly started out eating low fat meat but found a site in 2009, which got her to give up diet soda and start eating fatty meat. That story can be found on Ken Berry's channel. "Woman only eats meat for 13 years. Thanks for the good question.🙂
Thanks so much! I think one of the biggest mistakes we make going into carnivore is the belief that we will become superhuman overnight. Reading the comments on the forums we see the amazing transformations and expect our bodies to do all the healing immediately. I'm two years in, and continue to see improvement, but I still have a lot to go. My son reminds me that it took decades to do the damage!! Thank you for reminding us.
I did sloppy keto for a year and only lost a small amount of fat. The thing is all my health markers improved. I thought that good in itself. When I switched to full carnivore it was easy and gave dramatic results. Probably when you make some adjustment you will see great results.
Hi, I am on day 6 of Carnivore and am keeping a video diary for myself and I celebrate everyday by myself. In the past I have always announced my diets with trumpets and they have always failed. Now I don't want to tell friends and family yet, because if this works they will eventually ask me what I am doing right? I feel like I have started a new life(style) and it feels too fragile and precious and I want to treat it with respect and patience. Suzanne from Holland
I needed to hear this. 5 month carnivore been stalled for over 3 months. Non scale victories are great but I have been driven by the scale for 50 years. The lack of cravings is why this way of eating works. Even when not losing there is no desire to eat badly. Would you sink your sailboat simply because the wind has stopped and you are not making any progress towards your destination? That would be crazy.
Top things I will do now that I’ve heard this message - walk an hour, and weigh less often. Also think of it was a long term way of life! I’m 66, stalled out on weight loss and my name is Kathy! Hahaha
BTW, it's not a stall when you lose 5". Just because you didn't lose weight you lost fat. I guarantee if you went up to anyone who is overweight and struggling, meaning they want to lose weight but can't, and told them I'll tell you what. I can guarantee that you can drop 10 pants/dress sizes in the next year if you do these 2 things, go carnivore and throw away your scale they would do it. I had a conversation with a girl at work once because I had gone low carb and lost like 40 pounds and she asked me how I did it. I explained it and she just couldn't get it. So I said look, you are so worried about your weight, and I get that but what if I said you could lose 4 pants sizes but you would gain 20 pounds, would you care how much you weigh? She just looked at me for like 30 seconds and finally said, no. I haven't had a scale in like 15 years.
Kathy looks 50! Thanks for this! Lost 35 pounds and am sitting at the same weight. The mind plays so many games with us when we stall! Very few people who really talk about this in detail. Thank you. I'm saving this!
This has definitely been a great encouragement to me to keep on keeping on...I thought my 60 years of age had everything to do with my lack of weight loss, obviously NOT. Love hearing about older womens success. Thanks.
I think a lot of people would really benefit seeing a video for losing weight on what protein grams looks like (140gr to weigh 140lbs) in a day along with the fat ratio. I can’t be the only one who finds this complicated. Thank you
I'm fairly new too and have been watching a ton of YTs about your question. Some are saying 1 gram of protein for every pound of bodyweight. others say 0.7 grams of protein for every pound of body wt, among the carnivore community. Others say throw all the ratios away and just eat intuitively. We're on a learning journey.
I just started too. So if I want to be 125 pounds, I am going to eat 125 grams a day. I usually don't get there, but I find that the first month, I am figuring this out. You can get a free maro appt or a scale that can tell you the weight, then Google it, like how much protein is in a 5 ounce steak? It will tell you.
I am jumping for joy! This is EXACTLY what I needed to hear! I'm 56 and have been carnivore for well over a year and the weight loss has been minimal...but man on man the inches are happening!, and I am feeling good! At my highest I was a snug 26/28 and how I'm in the 18/20 neighborhood! It was initially baffling because I thought, how can I be a smaller size when I haven't seen the huge drop in the scale?! I have dedicated myself to become educating on what is happening on the inside instead of getting "stuck" on needing that number to move to define success. I have an appt with Dani Conway next month and I am super excited! Kelly I want to be a guest on your show when I reach my goal in 3 years or however long it takes! 😂😂😂 Thank you, thank you, thank you! And now...bacon and eggs for breakfast!
I have a weighing machine that tracks muscle mass and body fat percentage not just total weight. I always make sure that any weight loss is body fat not muscle mass. This protects your metabolism as you age.
I love what Kathie says about feeling happy, not gaining weight, no food cravings, energy, and she lost 5 1/2 inches-- we can't live and die by the number on the scale!! There are so many other important markers!
YES people need to hear it! My goodness, so many people don't share their stories until after all their weight is gone, & very rarely mention whether it took months or a couple years, or even MANY years to get where they are now. It's been super frustrating for many of us, to say the least. I started keto 4 yrs ago, lost 10 lbs, carnivore over 2 yrs ago, & I lost ZERO weight for the past 2 yrs, until these past couple months. no medical dignosis of any kind, though we all know there's plenty of unseen healing to do after coming off of standard- or even keto, for some- way of eating. I was SO discouraged, even though yes, I had all the other amazing benefits~ which is what kept me going. I was also transitioning through menopause during this time, no HRT. Finally, about 10 wks ago, the scale started moving & I've since dropped almost 30 lbs! I'm so truly grateful that the weight loss is finally happening, seriously thrilled. I only wish I'd heard more from others about those of us who are not "those super quick success stories"~ as I believe there are many of us. I don't know why people don't care to mention those particular details, but hopefully that will change. Maybe some think it might discourage others, but I feel the opposite is more likely~ women will worry less & enjoy the time more, imho! I make a point of talking about my own experience with carnivore because I can't stand the thought of others struggling & fearing that something is horribly wrong with them~ like I did! Not sure exactly where my weight will "settle", but in my mind I only have another 10-15 lbs to lose to put me in a happy place. Btw, I'm 57 yrs old, 5'7" tall, & today weigh 165 lbs. *Highest was 207, started carnivore 2 yrs back @196lbs. Also, my husband lost nearly all he wanted to in the first couple months 2 yrs ago~ over 60lbs! So that really messed w/my head, though I was thrilled for him of course. 🎯Main takeaway; Do not give up, do not give in, & do not give too much attention to time. You will have healing, you will have joy, & you absolutely will lose weight....AND continue to feel AMAZING along the way. You are worth it, & so is the time you are investing! 🎯~Sammy in NV
So inspiring! Thank you for sharing your determined story. I would definitely be annoyed if my husband lost all of his weight while I stood still in mine for so long. Seriously, congrats. So many others would've given up.
Kathie is infectious!! I love her attitude and outlook. When we stall or are making slow progress (according to the scale), one thing we know for sure is that *going back* is absolutely the WRONG direction BECAUSE been there, done that! We *already* know what that lifestyle brought us...obesity, gut issues, lack of energy/libido, brain fog, joint pain, no stamina, skin issues...ugh! WHY would we subject ourselves to that again??? STAY. THE. COURSE. Thanks for sharing your story, Kathie, and thank you, Kelly, for bringing her to us!
100%. I always get discouraged with the stall and run back to sugar and carbs for comfort. Thank goodness my skin immediately reminds me why I need to stay carnivore. Our bodies are smart and we need to trust the process more.
Kathy shaved like 20 years off!! She looks super vibrant. Great tangible example that staying consistent pays off. This is a sustainable long term solution. Hurray. Thank you Kelly for inviting Kathy!
When i did csrnivore the first time, it took me 2 years to see a real difference. I went from an XXXL to L. Stay the course, enjoy the NON SCALE VICTORIES (small shoe size, less cellulite, better mood, lower BP) i cant stress that enough.
I think people over 50 and 60 need to realize that after so many years of abusing their bodies with carbs, sugars, and starches you will have to be more patient and more consistent longer than say a 20 or 30-year-old who has had far less time to abuse their bodies... I lost 35 lbs in the first 6 months, then stalled out and was getting discouraged until I realized that I started at 76... I am still on it without compromise and as I hear this message I now have renewed hope that it will work out for me if I stay patient, consistent, and maintain hope... yours and along with Dr. Berry's are the first videos that directed me to this carnivore path and I greatly appreciate both of your content... keep up the fabulous work to help others on their path to health.
I went through a really bad time in 2020 and fell off the wagon and ate terribly for about 2 years. I got back into ketovore in June 2023 and lost all the weight that I had regained plus an extra 24lbs, so I am currently the lightest I've been in 30 years.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😊 PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEEEEASE talk more about the true length of time healing and weight loss takes, what exactly is healing and what gaining weight or stalling actually means. THIS IS CRUCIAL!!! Thank you for revealing more details of your carnivore and health journey and sharing this type of interview with us!!!
I’m a 54 yr old 5’8” woman , I started Keto Jan. 31, 2021 at 263lbs and lost 80lbs in 6 months which was amazing, but the gut issues, severe constipation and terrible leg and foot cramps were all a constant problem. Then I found out a friend of mine had beat cancer and went thru chemo like a champ while utilizing the carnivore diet. As I was also looking to help my husband deal with the extremely painful flare ups of diverticulitis and the removal of a large portion of his colon I Dr. Baker’s videos in my desperate search to help him stop the damage, which led me to the carnivore community and I started to eliminate the fruits and veggies and grains and toxic seed oils and all the Keto recreations that kept me a prisoner of my food addiction. I did gain 20lbs back, I was ravenously hungry and allowed myself to eat all the meat and dairy I wanted. Two years into 95% carnivore and I’m still stalled at 200lbs and battling the dairy. I had back surgery in January 2023 so my movement limited but I’m now able to add more movement which I’m sure will be helpful in my fat loss starting up again.
Keep going.. I also put on weight but keep training and taking care of my back with exercise swimming pilates massages.. osteopath the inflammation can also be in the spine. Connected!
So glad I watched this conversation, because when I started carnivore 7weeks in, the conversations I latched onto said they dropped so much weight initially, and I expected the same for me. I lost 10 lbs quickly, but I’m pretty sure that was water weight, so no I weigh weekly and I am seeing small drops. The fact that my pants fit better, keeps me going.
watch Dr Mindy Pelz's vid on Dry fasting = this is used to unstick and get you losing weight again. I had to do several dry fast and then a did a 3 day water fast and I lost 10 pounds after gaining and losing the same 5-7 pounds for a year on carnviore. I was at the top of the BMI chart (so in a health range but, had fat on my body. I look better at the lower end of the BMI chart for my height).
I have never done one extended fast (which i would consider more than about 16 hours) as a carnivore. But some people do well with fasting. I’m just not one of them. I eat three times per day to feel my very best.
Great results Kathie..🏆..! 139 days today for me losing loads of my FAT🐷!💪I'm eating eating OMAD(99% Meat🥩). 23.5 hr Fasting until the next days meal. Went from XXL Shirts🎽to Medium/Small🎽& 48" Waist to 30"👖. Blood Work💉results Wed Sept 13 are better than years ago! Psoriasis gone on scalp & some other areas,Cholesterol is good,Visceral Fat is going away,Fatty liver gone,Improved mental Clarity,Sharper Eyesight, healthy gums & Stomach Ulcer healed!🥳
Almost three years carnivore and I am healing. Carnivore healed me in my mental and I can now talk about my mom killing herself. It took 35 years to heal. I still have that day in memory. I am still going strong
My mom did this in 1979 I was in 8th grade. Talk about how to become a social pariah. I never had much trauma from it tho. Ofc she had been a mental case for yrs before - so that was the trauma. Life was generally better once she died. Nothing seemed to help her even with her trying so hard to get better (psych wards, pills, group therapy, counselors blah blah blah). Not having grandma for my kids was very unfair tho. My dad was also quite an unfit gpa too (he was a drunk). My kids suffered from my dysfunctional family.
Kathy, I cannot believe you are 70! Wow! Great to hear your story for me to hear. I am 63 and my new mindset is the 5 year outlook. I have been carnivore since May 2023. I started with OMAD without evening knowing that was a real thing back in December 2022, then started Keto in March 2023 before learning about carnivore. This has been a continuing learning process. I am always grateful to hear personal stories and incorporate things I learn as well as things people reference when stating reasons not to give up. So, the 5 year outlook, is a great new suggestion for me. Thanks so much!
This is a PERFECT message, absolutely perfect. I'm almost 67. I have been at a plateau for almost 2 years and suddenly lost 2 lbs. I think it's because I backed off heavy cream though I had very little of it in the first place, 3 teaspoons in my one hot cup of coffee in the a.m. but for my second cup, I've been refrigerating it and having it iced later with 1 teaspoon so that's what I mean by reducing cream. I keep hoping I can break the habit, though I detest black coffee and won't have it at all if I can't have stevia and a tiny bit of cream. I have very little cheese, just a sprinkle a bit on my eggs-we have our own chickens and have for 19 years- but mostly, it's grass fed local beef, eggs, butter, some pork, rarely chicken. My sleep is still an issue, but I've lost inches when the weight wasn't coming off and never have my 2x annual horrid migraines. I had to buy smaller clothes, oh the horror, LOL. My husband has lost some bulk in his midsection, had lost 30 lbs, then started to gain, but he is an emotional eater and says he's bored with meat. He used to love meat when it was part of his bad diet and now, we just picked up another 1/2 cow, filled the freezer so he'd better not go back to that way of eating! He's developed chronic headaches, but I am sure it's from his spine-he's a disabled veteran and I know my husband is under all that bloat an inflammation. He needs to lose almost 100 lbs, I think. I had a horrible accident in Oct 2021 when we were cutting down a tree. It went rogue, the butt end came up, scraped over the top of my head, fell on my right shoulder pushing me straight down at first, causing a clean break across my left leg below the knee and ultimately throwing me onto my back. I was already carnivore, didn't even pull a muscle when that happened, but the recovery from the break and surgery, being in bed and then in a wheelchair, I did not gain any weight back. That was almost 2 years ago. I guess I've been mostly carnivore for the past two years, more precisely before this last year, I guess I was ketovore. I'm rarely hungry, never struggle with my weight now. Kathie is fabulous! People need this message more than ever! Thanks again, Kelly. ~Cynthia
I truly believe my ramped up health was responsible for my healing then. I refused the home health person they sent, did my own physical therapy and the surgeon was amazed at how quickly I recovered (even though they say I have osteoporosis, probably from two decades of being on Synthroid for hypothyroidism, my only medication). That is probably a benefit from carnivore that is not often discussed, the faster healing from injuries. Thank you! All prayers gratefully accepted! ~Cynthia
I also hate black coffee and couldn't imagine giving up my heavy cream. Then I saw a comment under a video (you can learn a lot from the comments!) where someone said they put their coffee in a blender with a chunk of butter. It works! So creamy and frothy, like a latte! I add a little stevia and it's great! It accelerated my healing to get off of dairy. I've been carnivore for 6 months. The weight loss has just started happening. I've only about 20 lbs to lose, which I believe is a slower process than those that have 100+ to lose. Anyway... the buttered coffee in the blender was a game changer!
Hearing about the weight stalls makes me feel so much better. I started Carnivore in June 2023 and lost 17 pounds in the first month. I lost a pound or two for a few more months and then stalled by Christmas of that year. 2024 I have gained all those lost pounds plus another 15 and was about to give up. I feel better but gaining weight is scary to me. I recommitted to carnivore at the start of August 2024 and have returned to biking 4 miles twice a week, walking daily and squats every hour while at my sedentary job. I am hopeful to keep on this road for the long haul.
This was awesome to listen to. It just gives a person hope. Not that I feel hopeless, lol. I just had my one year carniversary 2 days ago. I have only lost about 15 lbs, still have at least 60, 70, or even 80 lbs to lose (I have zero idea what my ideal weight should, or could, be). I did start carnivore hoping to lose weight, but I am staying carnivore for the mental health it has brought me. I was living with depression and severe anxiety doused with panic attacks, some of which were so severe I ended up in emergency thinking I was dying, only to hear, "You were just having a panic attack". Not a fun place to be. Anyhow, 1 year carnivore and my anxiety is gone. It's just...gone! If I never lose another pound, I will still never go back to the way I used to eat. I far prefer to feel the peace and the calmness that is inside me now instead of the panic and anxiety and stress I was living every single day.
I’m 67 years old and was strict carnivore for 6 months, lost 18lbs in the first 4 months and then stalled. I had a lot of NSV but unfortunately I focused too much on the scale. Last 2 weeks I’ve reintroduced carbs and joint pain is back with a vengeance, bloating, skin breakouts. Doctor hounding me about going on statins because my cholesterol is in the 300’s. Ugh, I regret going off so if you’re wavering, just hang in!!
Hi Dana. I'm also 67 (5'4"). I had a similar experience with weight loss and yo-yo dieting, until I discovered paleo, then keto, then carnivore. In 2020, I started keto June, then ketovore Sept. Over the first 1.5 yrs, I slowly lost 30# and kept it off for a year (while continuing to eat some dark chocolate and macadamia nuts), until I got sucked into the idea of eating a stick of butter a day and 1800 calories minimum. In six weeks I gained back 12 pounds and 2 pant sizes! I felt thick, fat and depressed! Ugh. That was Nov 2022. The extra calories was mostly the butter. It tasted great, but set me on a butter addiction path. It took me 6 months to turn my head back around and stop all the butter and inflammation it caused. Since June I have decreased the butter to ~ 2T/day, and I limit myself to 1400-1600 calories. I had not previously tracked calories on carnivore and was never hungry, but I needed to track them because I couldn't trust my stomach to tell me when I'd had enough. It's taken 3 months to drop 8# and one pant size, but I'm finally hopeful again.
@@dianavp9054 I had exact the same experience as you! I followed several influencers and ate a stick of butter a day and gained 10lb. I have stopped butter two weeks ago. No change in weight yet but your comment gave me a hope!
Thank you so much ladies for speaking your truth. I've stalled on carnivore is been 3 months. I am now walking 2 miles a day. I will keep on keeping on.
I did start keto about 1.5 years ago but drifted away because I was fasting for 20 hours or so, was starving and not seeing the pounds drop so was discouraged. Now with more carnivore, not really fasting anymore than I want to, I don’t get too hungry, have lost a little and I feel like we eat like kings and queens with all this meat and fat!
I am 64 and started carnivore 4 months ago. I was diagnosed with low vit D, hemi facial spasms, low vit B, and possible auto immune disease after following a vegetarian diet for 4 years. I am so much better, and I also burp constantly, as Kathie said. I was not heavy because I've always exercised. But I did stop going to gym and just walked daily. After starting carnivore, my weight has remained, but I have just started a workout program for 3 days a week. Can't wait to see what happens. Thank you for empowering women, Kelly!
Hey now - it IS a quick fix. Almost nobody doesn't notice immediate changes in the first month or two on so many issues. Inflammation, joint pain, mood, skin, needing less meds, losing cravings, the list goes on. But the pounds may not miraculously drop every single week like they did at first. Like all weight loss, there are plateaus and challenges, and your message of patience and consistence is perfect for that part. Just don't downplay how much of "quick fix" this way of eating is for an entire spectrum of health issues. There is literally nothing else that can compare when making drastic changes for the better in a very short amount of time.
It is so good to here you talk about the weight and the scale. I have people say well you have been on this a long time. I tell them I am healing when I am healed all the weight will go. What else do you say to people who don't even have a clue what this is about. I have always felt this was put in front of me by GOD. I refuse to fall back. The food is so unhealthy I will never go back!. You two are inspiring ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I think this is one of your best podcast because you lay it out that your first year you lost a lot of weight, then it took forever to lose the rest of it. You point out that you felt much better and you were mobile and your boils went away and that you added movement in. It was wonderful that Kathy also worked with Dani to make sure that her insides were good as well. I hope everyone sees this podcast.😊
Thank you thank you thank you! I REALLY needed to hear this. I’ve been attempting carnivore for nearly a year, but almost 30 days without a “slip.” I have always been worried about losing weight and now I am focusing on nourishing my body and healing from 40 years of severe food addiction. Healing is my priority now and I thank you for keeping that message at the foundation of the content you share!
Newbie here. Thanks for this message. Been high protein ketovore for 8 years now. O feel best eating mostly meat base. At 66 I feel great and will never go back to the standard American Diet. 🥰
OMG I so needed to hear this today!! I've lost 61 lbs and I have 39 to go. I'm 65 years old I feel so much better about the length of time this has taken!! (2 years).
Kathie, i am also 72, I track my food, bloid sugars, ketones etc. I'm carnivore and know when I'm stuck, I never feel not successful and I stay tge course. My clothes I had to buy a few months ago are now huge on me. So I know my body is getting smaller. The weight is going down, never up and no joint pain. Niw that Autumn is here I can get out and walk. I cannot walk in 115 degree weather!! I want to lose 40 more pounds and it WILL happen. My grey hair is almost completely gone and my light brown has returned. I've had lots of NSV which make me so happy. I celebrate YOU. THANK YOU.
I’m 70 years old and this is about my 10th day! I have not weighed in the last couple of days because I have strep throat 😳 but I found you encouraging! I’m about 5’5 and about 175. I live alone and I’m on a fixed income. I have been unhealthy for the last few years with many UTI’s even had sepsis twice and nearly died! I’ve been under a lot of stress for a very long time… There have been a lot of tragedies in my life and my son has been on drugs and his caused great pain for many many years… I continue to pray for him but I think that has had a lot to do with my health… Except for the strep throat I have been feeling pretty good. I don’t want to get discouraged and give up because I see all the wonderful success stories! Thank you to each of you sweet ladies. I will have a success story one of these days too. May God bless each one of you in your life ❤
Hi Paula, good to hear you have started, how are you doing right now? I am on day 6 and feel really proud about not eating any carbs, first time in my life. I am also around 5.4 (163 cm) and I don't have a scale due to my past ED, I am guessing I am around 176 pounds. I have not told anyone yet, I don't need the discouragements and fears from people, so all I do is watch positive and educational video's like this. Have a great day! Suzanne from Holland
@@Suzanne-goes-Carnivore it’s so good to hear from you Suzanne! I hope you are well. I’m doing pretty good.. I’m just getting over another UTI 😳 I need to go to the grocery store but I’m going to wait until I get paid on Wednesday. I’m going to do this.. even if I mess up some! I still like spices and sugar free steak sauce! May God bless you today!❤️
@@paulaoliver7710 Hi! A UTI, that doesn't sound good...I hope you will recover completely, my thoughts and prayers are with you Paula. Have a great day and God bless your heart 💗🌷🙌
Honestly did this way of eating 22 years ago and lost fast and felt great... But here I am 55 and it's like a snail weight loss... Do I feel good... Yes... Am I discourage... Honestly yes... But I am going to continue this journey... This video helps me feel more encouraged
The scale is the LAST measure of weight. It doesn't differentiate water, fat, muscle, or inflammation. Lost inches and loose clothing are the best measures.
This video came at the EXACT time I needed it! It's like divine intervention. I am losing hope. I'll be two years carni come January and I've been stalled for a year and recently, gaining slowly 😫 taking all of this information and turning it around as of TODAY!! I'm going to start moving and stay the course 💪💪🥩 Love you!
I am stuggling with a stall and inflammation in my 8th month 100 % carnivore.. but I am 30 lbs down and hanging on for dear life to this way of eating..
Kathie looks amazing! Love that she stayed the course and did not go back to unhealthy eating during the time she wasn't loosing weight. So encouraging for me. Thank you!
I have been transitioning for a year to carnivore. I was a vegan for years. My body was damaged. Weekends for now I eat veggies and fruit only. Little by little, I have been removing carbs for health. Not weight loss.
TY! I'm on Day 144. Healing from Crohn's disease and Celiac. I lost 20 lbs in the 1st 2 months, but nothing since. Gut pain and radical races to the bathroom are gone. Joint pain is gone. It is good to hear the idea of reframing my health plan to a "Five year" health plan.
Thank you for the encouraging words. I am 83 and weigh 183 for 3 months. Down 24 lbs, but would like to lose 50 more. I feel great, but I have vertigo and manage around. I haven’t walk alone for 2 years at least. Knees use to hurt , feet use to hurt, but no more. I feel great, sleeping great. I exercise at home. I want to look like your guest.
Thank you Kelly and Kathie! So encouraging. You can't hear it enough...stay the course...don't go back...look for the positives...find your people to help! Love it! ❤️ Thank you!!!
I needed to hear this. Thank you ladies! I’ve been so discouraged. I did keto for 2.5 years. I lost 60 lbs but still heavy. Weight stuck around 175 for over a year stall. Worked out every day, strict keto. I gave in because of frustration and gained 30 back. All the pain came back. I’m back on in day 54 keto and only lost 5 lbs. discouraging. But slow and steady. I may try carnivore next but keto I felt great. I like the 5 year plan. The long game! Non scale victories.
For losing weight and fixing health, I have personally found Keto to be a waste of time. Only keto to transition over to carnivore. Carnivore is where it’s at! You can do it! 🙌
Getting more movement is something I need to work on. I'm so sedentary. My husband and I are both doing this and he started exercising and his weight loss is A LOT more than my own. While I've only dropped 2lbs (not even that much depending on fluctuations) while he's dropped at least 10. AND he looks thinner... all in only a month. TY for this. I'm going to make more effort to get my behind up and moving.
I know, men make me so mad! They lose so much easier than us gals 😒. My husband thinks it should be easy for me, like it is for him 😡. Darn hormones, and especially menopause!!!
Yes, yes, that 5-year question got me too! And isn't it true that we can get so discouraged if we hit a plateau or gain some weight even? It's really about consistency! What a great interview. You are 2 amazing ladies ❤
To stay aware and motivated, you could ask yourself every day: 'Do I want to help my body live? Or help it die? Then keep a 12 step Daily Journal of your cnvr journey, beginning with: 1-Intro detailing WHY you want to do cnvr and 2-How you feel about it being a new way of life 3-Listing what you need to do to be successful. 4-What foods to have and what to avoid. 5-How you feel (felt) on the day of your decision. 6-Then a daily list of what you eat and most importantly, 7-How you felt on that day. 8-What mistakes you made and 9-How you fixed them. {Be totally honest with yourself} and 10-Do a 7, then 30 day assessment and record this, stating everything that worked and what didn't and how you managed the first 7/30 days. 11-Refer to this journal whenever you get disheartened, to help you push through the hard stuff, to remind yourself what it was like in the beginning. To remind yourself why you are doing this. Then... 12-share this idea with others, to help them stick to the plan. x 👍💖🥓🥩💃
I needed to hear this at this time. Thank you. I've been carnivore for a bit over 4 months... lost 30 pounds the first month, but nothing since. Now that said. I am soooo much better. The moment that made me start was me waking up disappointed because I did wake up. I was soooo depressed and disgusted with myself. I actually felt sorry for the poor blokes who would have to carry my worthless body out. Ugghhh... don't judge. Yes, depressed is probably a mild word for what I was feeling. The thing is, within a week I did a 180. I couldn't remember a time where I felt so "happy"???? Was it happy???? It was that foreign to me. I have kept my "happy" feeling even after not losing. Of course, I am seeing plenty of NSVs... so that adds to my "happiness". There is no way I will change this WOE. I do love hearing your stories of stalling. Scale readings should not be used to judge your success. Again thanks
I'm 68 and I thank you for saying it took years. I'm not quite carnivore but would like to go carnivore at some point. My daughter thinks carnivore is a political statement, and I live with her. I need to not be so obvious in what I eat around them.
I’m sorry about that. I emphasize to my daughter how much better I feel and list the health problems that have gone away. But it is so against the grain, so to speak!
I lost over 100 pounds on keto, but hit a plateau short of 20 pounds from my goal and then started gaining. Digestive issues prompted me to go ketovore, I gained 30 pounds, now I've been strict carnivore for a month. Not much moving. But I'm going to keep going. Hearing you two speak about the struggles and getting past them is so helpful. ❤ I hope I can share my success too.
😊I love carnivore and stay on it for 3 years but my only challenge is social eating when I'm around other people enjoying a restaurant or dinner party I can't help but to feel left out, at home I have no problem staying on it. Scales don't work for me I like trying on my favorite jeans that I used to where... or a button down top that didn't fit right that works for me, and I try to focus on the pain I no longer have. No longer popping pain meds!
😢 I can relate. I lost 25 pounds in my first 3 months and have kept it off but haven't lost anything in... idk to be honest, 8 to maybe 10 months now. 😢 I'm not going back. I'm staying the course because I feel better and ALL my lab work is better as well. 🎉 But it is so hard not seeing real progress.... (PS I started at a snug size 20 jeans and XL top. I'm now a size 16 jeans and L top BUT I have been there forever as well so I'm not even losing inches 😢). Stay the course and best wishes to you! 🙏
Ate you real depression or just not happy about not losing weight. It is hard for each individual to go thru the tough times. But I bet most people have their own stories. No 2 alike. ❤🎉
I’m not stopping or giving up, because my health has improved tremendously. It just hard not to lose the fat that I need to lose. I‘m sure it’s because I don’t exercise. I’m 76 and it’s hard for me to do. Excuse I know.
I started Carnivore in January this year. My weight loss has been interesting. Right away I lost 5 lbs. Then nothing and went up a few lbs. I asked for some advice on a FB group and they all said eat way more meat and fat! I wasn’t eating enough. And I was eating 1/2 RX bars each day. Now I know what those dates in them were doing!! Raising my blood sugar. So I started eating more fat and meat and in the last couple of weeks I’ve continued losing a little each week. I’m trying to weigh only twice a week. I only have 25 lbs to lose so I know it’s going to be slow. But the biggest difference is that my arthritis has disappeared! And I’m working out by hiking and getting ready for a long distance hike this summer. My hiking has improved SO MUCH!!! Keep at it. I was impatient but this is long term for me. ❤❤❤
Yea been doing for over 30 days lost 5lbs. Then last couple days gained a few back. So discouraging. But I have recently had more heavy cream and cheese. So I’m gonna cut back.
Its true Im 45 and my mom is always hounding me for loosing weight. I just started carnivore again and weighed 6 pounds more after the first week, but my mom guessed I lost weight... really weird cause she is never optimistic until she cant deny it any longer But I started horse riding and this last time I feel that I can hold up my upper body better to remain balanced on the horse. And I can keep it up without getting exhausted before the lesson ends. I hop out of bed no problem and I finish my to do lists. And yesss I feel so happy and privileged. Thanks guys Keep it up😊
Yes! 109 days into my carnivore journey. My weight has stayed exactly the same...but my clothes are looser. Hopped on a body composition scale and have been tracking and wouldn't you know, I've lost 5 lbs of fat, and gained 5 lbs of muscle and that's without working out!! Back in my lifting days, I'd have killed for those kind of gains. I've still got a long ways to go healing wise but I'm so encouraged and there's absolutely no going back.
Yay! I love hearing someone else say how FREEING carnivore is! I feel the same way even though it doesn’t make sense because it’s so “restrictive”. I’ve never felt better, and it’s only been 45 days. ❤️
Incredible! I started modified carnivore 4 years ago and at first lost weight. Then around 1 year in I began to gain and craved only meat and eggs. But I stayed the course. Over the next two years I began to only crave beef, gained more weight and felt exhausted. Long story short I was severely anemic and my weight gain was from a large Fibroid that was removed recently. I no longer feel the need to eat 2lbs of beef a day, have energy and I’m slowly rebuilding. Had I not been carnivore idk how I would have made it. I thank God for people like you Kelly who bring such great info to us.
How big was it? I had a 12cm one removed, size of a 5mon pregnancy. Plus a few more smaller ones but they left behind a lot of small ones as there were just so many. None grew thankfully n now I’m 58 so the estrogen will never be able to do that to me. The estrogen was ofc from the hyperinsulinimia. Along with PCOS etc. - everything sprouts from dang insulin!!
I loved hearing this because my weight loss is extremely slow. Been carnivore 6 months. I also met you this year in New Jersey Kelly, we have a picture together. I’m 63 but when I was 26 I went on weight watchers and lost 63 pounds in the first eight months then it took me two years to lose the next 20. This interview just reminded me of that. My patients paid off. But then over the next three or four years, I gained most of it back. That’s what I love about Carnivore, if you stick you won’t gain it back. It only gets better. ❤
Great interview. I'm 16 weeks in and have lost 16kgs...I'm in Australia and winter has now left us so now I am just starting to incorporate moving - walking - though I do have a bad knee and am waiting for a knee replacement but I can do a bit of walking and figure it is better than none!
Yeah your doing it. I was up for a knee replacement and after losing 40lb. I'm now walking without pain in my knee. No knee replacement needed. Hope you have the same success.
I went Carnivore from Keto and I am up 10 pounds and many inches! It’s freaking me out but, I am continuing this journey because ultimately my blood sugars are lower!
Fifty four and perimenopausal, things seem to be going a bit slower for me. I've been doing carnivore for a couple months now , and havent lost any scale weight, but i am going down in inches! I am staying the course!🙏🏻❤
This is a message I needed to hear this morning. My head knows this but my flesh wants results (the scale to move)so bad. I have only lost 1 pound in the 2 months and I am basically lions diet carnivore. I knew I need to go all in to make this work for me. Maybe in time somewhere I can add back other animal products. I just hit my 2 months marker, which I realize is just the beginning, but we humans want instant gratification. So today being encouraged was definitely needed. Very Much Needed.
@@Me-xt7ow definitely have done this. I added mct oil and after 2 1/2 months I finally lost two pounds. I am hoping my body is slowly waking up and starting to respond the way it is supposed too! Thank you.
Thank you so much for this information….to taking time….I am in my 3rd yr. at a stand still, lost 65 lbs. , have at least 40 more to go,feeling great, can see changes, I am hanging in there. Thought maybe it’s my age 74. I do feel so much better, more mobile, less pain.
I'm 56 years old and was literally just thinking on how I could make my goal of being the best shape of my life. By the time I turn 60. I realized in the last few years of up and downs with this lifestyle-im lacking consistency and having binge cycles. But it does take time and this timing of this video is perfect for me!
I have also had frustrating stalls. I recently found Dr. Cate Shanahan's work on seed oils. Her health model is treating body fat like an organ. Since I started eating to make my body fat healthy I started to make progress.
I've seen so many changes in my body, good changes. Took many years to mess myself up, but this healing process is moving right along. My weight loss and body shape changing is a bonus!
Thank you, Ladies!!! I'm 65 and have been carnivore (from keto) for only 30 days. I've only lost 5 lbs in that month; however, my clothes are looser and I can sleep more than 2 hrs at a time! I have more energy, too. I am definitely "adopting" that 5 yr plan! I'm so excited!
@ScandinAsian524 l am glad to hear this. I’m on day 26 & have only lost about 3 lbs to date. I will do my 30 day weigh-in in a few days & will taken my measurements since my initial measurements taken when I first started. I feel smaller so I am hoping to at least see a reduction in measurements.
This information is necessary! I didn’t have a lot of weight to lose, but I’m not at my goal. Been eating carnivore 6 months. Lost 10 pounds in the first 10 days, then lost another 10 pounds very slowly over the 6 months. I want to lose another 10 pounds.
I relate, because after 3 1/2 years on Carnivore, the last 2 years have been a plateau. Dani Conway has helped me with some health issues this past year, but I am still about 40 lbs overweight. I'm not giving up hope either, but it is hard to not be where I want to be. ❤️🥩❤️
Thanks for sharing this story, Kathie and Kelly. I've been doing carnivore for about 5 weeks now, with just about 2 pounds of weight loss. To be fair, my pants are not as tight. I am 73 and extra-sedentary. I have a huge mental obstacle about exercising. I'm in the country with no paved road or driveway and I have low vision, so walking on uneven ground is both dangerous and unnerving. Or that's my excuse! So far I haven't been terribly depressed about the lack of weight, and given I'm a natural born carnivore (don't care for veggies except potatoes, corn, beans) and not a big craver of sweets or breads, the lifestyle isn't a burden. Fortunately no health problems. I've been telling myself to try walking (I do have a treadmill) regularly and see if this spurs any weight loss, sort of tells the metabolism it would be OK to release some of that fat. Anyway, this video came at an opportune time, I wasn't necessarily thinking of quittig, but was I disheartened, but I wasn't hugely encourage to continue, either. So thanks again to both of you. Kathie, do you have an email address you share, or a post office box for mail?
Thank you!! I can look at a 5 yr plan now! I'm one who has gained some in 8 months carnivore, not losing much in the way of inches, but oh, yeah, I feel so much better!! I can see it. Hair getting darker, skin better, joints are so much less painful, way less inflamation all over. Less gut gas and issues. I do indeed feel better!
Thank you. I'm down about 45 lbs, was more this spring until vaccations and now dating, so not constantly carnivore. Also, I am not sleeping enough (life long problem). Anyway, this is helpful to help me stay consistent and on course. I'm 44, and I've been overweight since childhood. I'm 5'-3", and my heaviest weight was about 250 lbs. I'd tried everything to loss weight, so was about 220 lb when starting carnivore. Now im 175 lbs. I've gone from a size 18 to a 12. It's made a world of difference. I just need to stay the course and remember that if I eat non carnivore things, and don't get enough sleep, I don't see results (scale or inches). But, when I do it, everything is better from my belly firmness to my face skin.
Thank you, Kelly & Kathie. I need to hear this. I started keto 6 yrs ago, lost 40 lbs the first year. It was great -- the easiest weight loss I'd ever experienced, and like Kathie, I've done Weight Watchers & TOPS multiple times & hated it, Since then, I've gained it all back. Some carbs have come back in, mostly when eating out, but I'm mostly keto/carnivore. Exactly! I have to keep trying, can't go back to SAD.
I so needed this message today. I’ve stalled and have been feeling down about it. Thank you for the truth and encouragement that we need to keep pressing on in hope (faith and love) for we will reap the rewards if we remain faithful. Kelly you’re my favorite carnivore! And I just signed up for your December Zoom class. Can’t wait to learn and grow healthier. Thank you both and God bless this Zero Carb Life.
We were MEANT to MOVE! People who don't embrace this fact are just so wrong, and missing out on so many benefits. Also......as Dr. Berry would say, we all need to remember to take our dose of "Vitamin P"....for patience! Trust the process!
I needed to hear this so much 😊. I've had a 5 month stall and it's very disheartening, but I'm reminded that things are still healing in my body ❤️ I'm in for life 😊
