I bought a 85 elco a yr ago and been scared to death to work on it because I don’t know wtf I’m doing 😂 you’re definitely motivating me to pull it in the garage and start taking it apart. ✊🏾
Sir u are the MAN most definitely not a idiot..ur teaching as well as still humble enough to learn, and even say if u messed up..but let me get to work. Can’t wait to finish watching this video 🦾🫡
Dont give regret it bro its all a part of it trial an error i changed my disc out wit the caliper kit from jegs for the gbody. Changed master cylinder and proportioning valve no rear brakes wouldn work at all discouraged me for a over a year. Car sat on jack stands in the garahe became a table last week i changed the master cylinder out to a factory gbody from orielly rear brake work again but i need to bleed them some more i think i may have air in the lines somewhere still
So why the title? You're not happy with the outcome of the conversion? Mine is making the exact same clicking noise from the proportioning valve and I still have to do the parking brake also but the brakes are working great
If I had to do it over I probably would just go with a Wilwood big brake kit. But I wanted to have all factory parts that I could get from a local parts store anywhere without having to have shipped. Yeah I was wondering where that clicking sound was coming from. Just a long process and I just ready to drive and enjoy it now.
I feel that. I've been working on mine 8 months. I built the engine and I've never built anything like that myself (but it runs great) so it's been a looooong process. Since then I've rebuilt the front end, did the front Blazer brake conversion, been following you on doing the rear, got it done the other day and today I've almost finished installing two power seats from a 2012 Equinox.. and in all the 8 months since building the engine (a 355 4 bolt main from a 72 C10) I've put exactly 198 miles on it 😂 ... so I'm ready to stop mechanicing and enjoy mine also. Once I get the seat brackets finished I'm going to change the carpet, put the seats back in and take a break on it. I've got to get a center console and I want to do a dash swap but I think I'm going to just drive it for a few months first ... Man it has been a journey of learning I tell you.. I've also got a 77 Cutlass Supreme with T-Tops that I might do the LS swap on but not sure when ... Anyhow ... You're videos have been a great help to me so keep it up bro.
Yes I put a disc to disc prop valve on. I figured it out, the calipers are seized. I took them off and the piston would not retract as it should. I had to force them in using a c clamp.
I just ordered some caliper rebuild kits and new pistons. I’ll do this before I buy new calipers. I may go ahead and replace the rubber over axle hose while I’m at it.
