How bad did that caliper rub on that QA1 bracket? I'm in motion on doing this conversion and I have qa1 rear coilovers. Will dremeling the caliper down help?
Great project, this monte is going to be absolutely killer all dressed up💪🏾 juwt fonished restoring & painting calipers & rotors yesterday, so i feel the struggle. Im much less experienced in painting than you it seems, but there's always one little thing that gets forgotten no matter the project😂
@@PENNYLS1 yea just stock install nothing major I got lucky and bought a motor and trans already rebuilt eventually I’ll change came heads and intake for better performance
Nice to see some retro equipment being used. I remember the old Crossfire gear. We had a local retailer that sold the hell outta the Crossfire and Rockford Fosgate equipment.
My 79 trans am has factory rear disc brakes with the lever style e brake actuator. They are complicated calipers with a lot of moving parts inside the caliper. I’m thinking about looking into this to replace them as these e brakes are better. The axle housing I have looks ready to bolt this up. I’m wondering about the disc bolting up to my original axles and having the right space. It looks right but I don’t know. It’s a Gm 10 bolt differential.
I know you have a clean game plan already. I have to do a blend on a panel and I’m trying some spot blender from Spraymax to “melt” the new clear into the old clear. P/N 3680093 1k spot blender…Keep up the clean azz work fam!🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
@@PENNYLS1 I am loving it! I'm a Army Veteran who suffers from depression and seeing your work inspires me as I have 3 projects!!! Keep cooking I love your approach the gems you drop and your project!!!!
Good stuff man, have an 83 T-Type Regal....still deciding on what upper/lower control arms, and coil-overs to use. A lot of different ones to choose from. Just curious why you didn't go with the newerlower control arms?
A1 work fam!! I tell my young homies all the time that the painting part is easy-it’s the masking, taping off and setting up the booth area. PITA!!!!! lol. Color looks amazing big dawg!!🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯
My boi, Big thanks for the vid. Headlights was tripping then finally went out, saw your vid and swapped it out yesterday and now I wait til night time to bring out the 87 Aerocoupe lol. Good stuff !!
I used a oil pressure sending unit for a 02 Silverado and a coolant temp sensor for a 98 Camaro. Did a 5.3 swap in a 94 S10. All my factory gauges, warning lights and cruise control all work.
'83-'88 G-Body Monte Carlo SS/Grand Prix 2+2 front bumper/nose assemblies are made of Rubber/Urethane blend to hold their distinct aerodynamic shape/form.
I have put 98 up blazer rear discs on g-bodies, chevelles, various other 10 and 12 bolt vehicles. I normally have to space the caliper bracket out a little bit on a few I've had to machine .020-.030" off the caliper bracket to get it centered just right..
@@PENNYLS1 I just got a LS 6.0 and I want to rebuild it and install and trying to figure out what it’s going to cost and what all I need to make it work.
Holley high mount bracket. The power steering pulley was hitting the gearbox at first because I was running the Camaro spacing/harmonic balancer. Switch to corvette harmonic balancer and solved the problem.
Enjoying your g body rear brake conversion, and your honesty when you blunder. I'm a life time auto tech, and when you're about to do something I know that is wrong, you can't hear me yelling "don't do that!", but you'd LOL if you see how animated I get. I have had full service repair shops and have done training, and I applaud you for taking on your projects. I see so many guys afraid to even change plugs. On that post you were in a j yard and offered to get the backing plates and calipers off of 2wd blazers. I'm in the Northeast upstate NY. For the most part knowone on this area buys 2wd, and all those are rusted and crushed up here. The rust you encountered is a cake walk here, it would be a pleasure to see "that little discoloration" on a part we del with on a regular basis. I'm converting my 65 Chevelle to rear disc. I have a 12 bolt in the rear now. I've determined that the G body conversion would work for my rear as I want get both calipers with brackets and axle plates with e brake hardware. I'll use the calipers for cores as I put the system together. P.S. get a double flare and ISO flare set, a manual one works well and is affordable, I use a hydrolic setup, but have used what I recommended. A single flare line will split is why it is not dot approved. When you start double and ISO bubble flaring, you will find it so satisfying. Let me know if you can get me the brake brackets and backing plates and calipers and hardware and your terms, you can email me if you have questions "rcjlapj@hotmail.com"
