I'm going to update this pinned comment as I find more things, but there was seemingly a lot of activity that happened while filming that I didn't pick up on during filming or editing, and I've only just noticed (or other people have noticed) as I watch this vlog back, including: - At 14:19 when I show the spirit board, the camera goes sluggish and slightly out of focus, as well as it looking like it's going in slow-motion. - Around 34 minutes, there is a lot of screen flickering. - Around 1 hour and 8 minutes, there's constant zooming and interference with the camera. - At 1:19:30 there is a lot of shaking on the top left side. - At 1:24:35 after I said I had chills, the ghost voice said “FLAME” which I didn’t pick up on at the time was a direct response to me saying I was cold, and the ghost telling me to get warm with a flame. - I did get an email from the staff at Chillingham about the flies. Apparently they do live in the castle walls and it becomes a problem for them at this time of year. However, they couldn't explain the deaths of the flies. They do not fumigate because of the bats, so there isn't anything toxic to the flies in the room. And their life span is 28 days. I still can't explain why dozens upon dozens died at the same time.
So in watching this and surfing the internet, I came across cluster flies and found that when they live inside houses (in like attics and such) and then when they wake up (or whatnot) they try to leave the house via the windows and will actually repeatedly fly into the windows until they basically pass away resulting in massive amounts of flies by the windows. With the staff saying they are a problem this time of year, maybe that is what happened. Hope this helps. Bravo on staying there though. I wouldn't have so you're braver than me.

The “am I dead” genuinely made me so sad. Can’t help but feel that was probably one of the ghost children who was slaughtered that doesn’t understand what happened. Poor soul Great video Gavin, had never heard of this place but now I have a new haunted location to be obsessed with 😂
I swear to God, I forgot at times that this is a reading vlog and thought this was a mystery movie or horror game. I really got invested in the investigation to the point that I wanted to know what happened to the ghost. The dead flies, the guy looking for any dead animal, like this legit felt like the plot of a movie in the best way possible. This ghost has some EXPLAINING to do.
this whole vlog is giving “found footage horror film” and it truly is eerie😭 also, when you pulled out the spirit board, someone in my building started yelling, so that says enough to me😳😩

Your experience with the flies is particularly terrifying to me. Once I was up late reading and kept hearing a buzzing. I couldn't find the source. I went to my sewing room and started working and even over the machine I could still hear a buzzing. I checked on my sleeping children and all was silent. Back in my room the buzzing continued. Finally I checked the spare bath and there had to have been over 50 flies! An entire swarm. It was so scary. Something straight out of The Amityville Horror! Thankfully, I had a swatter, but it took me ages to kill them all, and I was scared the entire time. 🪰
“Am I Dead?” No way would I have continued after that, I could just picture what Gavin’s face looked like, wouldn’t of blamed you if you immediately went to pack your bags lol.
I can't even travel on my own, let alone to a haunted castle! You are so brave! I am selfishly glad by this so that I can live vicariously through you 😂 This video was amazing! And scared the crap out of me. While you were doing the first paranormal investigation, my little girl had snuck out of bed and whispered "mom" at me and I nearly jumped out of my skin! Ironically, she was out of bed because she said that she watched a show that scares her 😂
Graveyard Charles has a wiki page. - "Charles Augustus Bennet, 6th Earl of Tankerville - Lord Tankerville died at the family seat of Chillingham Castle, Northumberland, in December 1899, aged 89." He actually died at the castle, he's not just buried there because of family connections. Maybe old Charlie just wanted to look out for you. Little nearly-90yr old man, sat in a rocking chair, looking out over the guests at his castle, making sure the demons don't get them, 'cause it would be bad for business 😉
The amount of work, planning and care that went into this full feature film is unmatched. It was the vlog that kept on giving. I laughed, I was scared, I was intrigued, a true masterpiece!

I agree! The camera never does that normally and there's no other reason why it should zoom so erratically during that segment. I was spooked when editing the video seeing how aggressive it was!

Just a note about the flies, but they're probably cluster flies. They travel and live in swarms and usually like living inside walls of old places because it's warm. Also, they'll be more active when it starts getting cold because they're looking for warm and dry places to live. They aren't like rotting meat type flies, they go after old food and rotting soil and stuff. If they get stuck inside, they don't last long. They fly towards light to try to get out, which would be the windows. If they don't eat for a while they die pretty quickly. It's creepy because of how we're made to think of flies, but those type aren't bad. That's just how they act. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble hoping it was a paranormal thing! Imagine investigating a place that had swarms of those....it's horrifying when you walk into a place like that...that's why I researched it LOL!

I've stayed at Chillingham Castle several times. We've had plenty of things happen in the twin room, tapping, footsteps, growling, voices, windows opening, and sockets turned off untouched. The wall that the Blue Boy was found in is the one with the locked door in the four poster bedroom, the pink room is on the other side of that wall.
After "Am I dead?" I would have been GONE! As soon as "Don't leave" happened I nearly ran out of my own apartment. The fact that you said sorry has me cackling though. Omg this clog had me tense.

ok, you outdid yourself Gav! I'm not even halfway through and this is excellent, truly a production! All I can think of now is how incredible it would be you doing a colab with Celina SpookyBoo!!! It's scary to think how certain historical periods and places were just fertile ground, even a playground, for all kinds of sadists and psychopaths... the Middle Ages have some of the most horrific stories... So, I think the orbs on King Edward's Room were just a fly, and you did hear buzzing in there :p also, with the managers of the castle saying they have a problem with flies, it would then be normal for you to hear them, and for some of them too show up here and there! However, the saying "dropping like flies" really become oddly too literal... The constant focus in and out of the camera while reading the diaries I would attribute to low light and the camera trying to balance the whites when the white pages of the diaries are shown. In the beginning of the paranormal investigation you asked the name of the ghostie and then you had "flame" and "doll" being picked up. I wonder if "flame" was meant as the lamp beneath the portrait of Lady Mary Berkeley and "doll" as the figure on the portrait, and it was ghostie trying to tell you she is Lady Mary Berkeley?! The "monster" was creepy af, I would have run out of that room faster than my shadow xD PRESS!! She is a fan Gav and she pressed the like and subscribe!! Perfect Halloween content, thank you 👻
This video was amazing! I was scared AF when you were getting intelligent responses on the reader. And those flies in the twin room - no thank you! I would never be able to stay there without at least 3 or 4 friends with me so kudos to you for making it in your own. Did you ever get nauseous while you were there? I’ve been to some haunted areas here in the states and I usually get nauseous especially if something really terrible happened in the location. Anyway, great video and now I think I’ll be up all night because it freaked me out so much. Btw I hope the ghosts enjoyed your rendition of Six - that was hilarious 😂

Oh my goodness I have so much to say about this!!!! First, it was BEAUTIFUL! I saved it for Halloween and I was not disappointed. I watch a lot of ghost hunting videos and this is the only one to actually creep me out and it wasn’t even technically a ghost hunting vlog, haha! I have to say two things: 1. The part where you’re reading from the journal and your camera is clearly trying to focus on something RU-vid cut to a commercial and promptly glitched out. The screen showed one thing and was playing something else. I’ve been watching RU-vid every single day for about seven years and I’ve literally never seen anything like it. Also, none of the commercials before, after or since have glitched out. 2. When you went into the twin room to show us the flies that were swarming in there, my stomach started cramping really bad and I felt like I had really bad diarrhea starting. I decided to wait until the chapter was over to use the rest room, but as soon as you left the room the symptoms vanished. It’s said spirits can travel through screens, which is something I really don’t believe, but I’ll admit that was weird and I kinda of feel compelled to attribute to the room. This castle is bonkers and I loved this vlog! Thank you doing this! I so appreciate all your content, but this really was something special!

I love a content like this, keep doing this! When you were exlporing the outside area in the night time, in the first night, I was sure there's gonna be a jumpscare or something's gonna appear in that dungeon, between the bars. Then I realized that I'm actually not watching a horror movie :D But that apartment of yours is beautiful, in it's all terrifying beauty! And that camera interference, I'm trying to think and convince myself that it's only the camera's natural way of zooming and trying to make the video more precise. Even tho it is spooky when it happens during your visit in that castle... Is the castle open for visitors in the daytime? I'm just wondering because it seems like you are there all alone :D
Okay so I have a list of things to say because of this video lol. One, I love all of your videos but especially these type of videos, where you are willing to explore places and somehow involve books with them. It’s so creative. I feel like we need a musical about your life. Two, I downloaded the app and I was just messing with it but the first question I asked was “Is anyone there?” And the thing picked up “Why are you here?”. The crazy thing about this is I work overnight shifts as a security guard on some nights. So, my job is already creepy but this topped my night. 😅
