This is the hardest I've ever worked on a video and frankly, I'm not happy with it. I re-shot the application footage over and over and over again because the lighting wasn't right. Itried using orange gels and diffuser fabrics on my window, shooting in only artificial lighting, shooting in my garage in front of a paper roll, shooting at 6am when the sun isn't too bright....nothing looked as good as the lighting in my old house. I've hired a company to help me design a studio so hopefully I will have great lighting soon! Nyx has changed where they manufacture their lip pencils from Germany to Mexico. That’s why the formula completely changed.mac whirl is a dupe to nyx mauve lip liner
This is truly a magnum opus of a lip liner video! Ok, maybe that was a little hyperbolic of me but I really appreciated the detail and all the swatches! Loved this video Kait! and love how you do your lip swatches. I can't tell you how many times I go back to your videos to remember how a lip product performed and looked. Those LA girl shockwave lipliners are such a hidden gem, if you want to try another shade in that formula then the shade coquette is beautiful. When it comes to Lisa Eldridge, the enhance and define lip liners are wayyy too creamy, pigmented and slippy, it makes it almost hard to control. They set down and are long lasting but they feel quite heavy on the lips. The LE sculpt and shade lip liners are much better. The formula reminds me of the MUF artist color pencils. You also really need to try the Milani easy liner in most natural, it only comes in two shades but this lip liner formula is really pretty but the color is what gets me. It's the most beautiful natural shade that goes with any lip color. Totally agree with you about the MAC lipliners, but the shades are really beautiful. I think you would really like the shade whirl, it's more of a cool tone mauve that creates a really pretty shadow, but of course you have to love the formula to buy another lip liner lol. Other amazing lip liners I highly recommend you try are the Freck beauty ones, the About Face lip liners, the Nabla lip liners, and the Natasha Denona I need a nude lip liners (prettiest colors and formula!)
You did it again! Absolutely amazing the amount of work that you put into these. So comprehensive and impressive! Currently my favorite liners are Tower 28, Kosas, and my old formulation NYX Nude Beige. I bought the Clio one based on your recommendation. Could you please share a video comparing Sephora Rouge Gel in The Nudist and Sweed in Barely There? These shades look quite similar in this video, but I’d love to see a side-by-side to see if Barely There would truly be too warm-toned for me, or if it could work as a light lip contour that actually sets down!
Do I wear lipliners, no. Am I gonna watch this anyway? Absolutely! (I'm terrible with lipliner, so the only one I kinda wear and like the look of is tower 28 work of art, so I'm curious about the shade extension!)
I wish the algo rewarded reference content more, because I knew I wasn’t ready to watch it when it first dropped, but once I had the time to really pay attention & keep some tabs open for my own further research this is SO valuable! I totally get you have to do what gives you ROI for your time, maybe make the deep dives for Patreon and teasers for that on the free spaces? I just want you compensated for this hard work and I know I’d be willing to pay a fee for saving me from shades and formulas I can now skip!

Thank you for your extensive review video! I loved the brief break regarding the CT website. Your dedication to this type of video is AMAZING (yes, I’m yelling at you). Why are people so stingy with the like button? I have both types of the Lisa Eldridge liners. The originals are packed with pigment, match beautifully with the lipsticks and don’t budge, although there isn’t much playtime, which isn’t great if you aren’t good at drawing. The new liners are great for shaping, although not terribly long-lasting, but 0C is a fantastic shade for me and helps cover up some of the discoloration on my lip line. I often team this up with a creamy longer lasting formula. My most used are the Lisa Eldridge, Nabla, Chanel, Sisley and CT with the newcomer to my collection, Sweed, quickly becoming a favorite too! This video sent me down a long rat hole on the definition and history of the color mauve. I agree that most mauves do not live up to my expectations.
What an amaaaaaaazing video!! My fav liner is the Revlon colorstay in the shade Nude. I definitely like a budge proof liner, and I love that you specified how easily each applied, the texture, and the longevity of each one!!! Also I tend to like the same lip colors as you so this was all so awesome!!! 👏🏼

I totally agree with you on the elusive mauve lip liner. There are hardly any companies who know what it means. Lawless honey rose is my favorite thus far. Im 61 so I appreciate the creamy formula. I bought a Maybelline one yesterday, it was supposed to be mauve, nope, peachy brown. My lips are borderline purple so anything warm looks terrible. Great video, ty❤

That Milani lipliner grows drier as the pencil ages and eventually sets down more. I had mine for about three months before the formula became exactly what I wanted it to be.

Although, I’m a brunette with brown/hazel eyes - We have such a similar skin tone and pretty much every blush, complexion, and lip liner recommendation you make works perfect for me. Which is tough when you’re very neutral, everything looks too warm on me. Also, I find your voice so relaxing. Keep up the great work! BTW, you look radiant in that Ivory top- great color. Just curious, do you know your color season?

Fantastic video! So much work! I purchased one of the LA girl shock wave lip liners from 5 below. It was in a display right next to the LA colors lip liners, and I had heard they were sister brands. So I picked up one of those as well in the gel liner. I think they're the same formula! The LA colors one was equally long wearing and creamy as the la girl, and I'm overjoyed because they were only 2.50 and the color range was different. I'm pretty sure they had a cool tone mauve.
Totally get your point about the MAC lip pencil. I find them somewhat laborious to apply too. But generally, the stiffer formulas tend to last longer on my lips.
I beyond loved this video and appreciate all your hard work. You are stellar!!!!!!!!!!!!! Try the Sephora lipliner in Belleflower - it has lots of pigment although the purple shade might be a bit wild for you!

I hope you read this.. i had spice mac lipliner from 8 years ago, that i just finally finished currently. And I go repurchased it. And it become a different color!! The old one are true to the description, cinamon mauve pinky brown. But the new Spice is straight up peach!! 😢😢

This is so interesting. I think the exact opposite of you when it comes to Charlotte Tilbury and Mac. CT is sooo dry and hard to apply for me, and I dislike the shades (and i have fair cool-toned skin😂). Mac on the other hand glides on and gives me the most precision out of any lip liner I’ve tried, while also having incredible wear and being easy for reapplication. I love the shades too

@@StateofKait I was just looking at my MbM Smokey Pink too. It's my fave out of his line. I'm a cool, super desaturated light olive and I'm all about the cooler, pink/purple/greige colors, they seem to be the only ones that don't turn an ugly orange on me. :)
I totally agree with the NYX lip liner. I got multiple because made good experiences that were pigmented and I had no issues applying until I came across ‚natural‘, my lips hurt just because I was pushing so hard to see at least some color…
