I Stand With Forspoken 

Well they won’t be making any more games which is sad. I blame the writers myself .

Shit happens, we’re all human after all. At least you acknowledge & are honest about it, compared to the journo’s these days, who would ignore or brush it off.

Was this game marketed in China at all? Seems like they would have to color swap the main character or remove her from the box art just to get it past the CCP

It's an interesting game, that gets some idea very close to working and even does some thing very well. The respawn loading is blindingly fast for example the way it handles some LOD issues isn't completely terrible compared to some other games, and I actually kinda like some of the traversal. I'll leave it up to personal taste on if people think the combat is a little bit broken or not. I will say this the main character's dialogue is so annoying as is her constant (and lacking in variety) swearing that along with 1 or two other games is getting people to push again for the return of the silent protagonist. (One of the reasons I often joke about Ubisoft should make a Far Cry : Gi Joe game where you play as the Mute Ninja/Commando Snake Eyes), That said though I think Forspoken screws up in a lot of places with things like mission structure, a lack of things to do in the world, a unappealing hub world and a repetitive over world. Maybe they could learn something from "casual Games" where they often give you pieces to make a castle of something like that = so that you are working towards a goal or series of goals.. that might have helped if better realised in the plot. Other games seems to be doing something like that at least. So I guess in short. 1. Don't bore people with your plot 2. Give people a choice of what to do, even some busy work is a change of pace at least. 3. If you Main Character doesn't shut up make sure you can mute them or adjust their frequency of speech, or make them only speak in subtitles (all of that is some help at least). 4. If using a game engine that already exists try to not make your game look worse than the previous one. Such a lot of money the spent and it didn't take very long for people to decide it wasn't worth their time, so that is a lot of time and money wasted then. Maybe more to do and a less chatty main character might have tipped the balance, maybe it might not. But it's a shame to see someone waste so much time and money on something that you can at least see that a good "fixer" could have saved it.

I was about to say isn't Yoshi-P and company working on FF 16. This correction makes more sense.

@@denkerbosu3551 As a pretty big FF14 player, the reason its done/doing so well is that the 14 team have almost dictatorial control over their product without the S-Enix top brass interfering as far as I know. A few months ago they wanted FF NFT's to be a thing and the lead on 14 went "not happening to us", so they pulled out. I guess its cos 14 brings in such a massive stream of profit that they cant fuck with it without threatening the bottom line. Long as 14 sails, everything else they touch can sink without fear.

Eh, I hear that alot, but HP Lovecraft spent his life sick and mostly confined to home, and wrote some great shit. Life experience is necessary if you're going to write a story about something real, like what it was like in a recent war (or a fuckton of real research) but I don't think you need much to write a fantasy or sci-fi story. But you do have to not be up your own asshole or an ideological zealot.
