I also got invited to a launch event in Berlin. Got to play the game 2 weeks before anyone else. The location was beautiful. Everything made to look just like I imagined bases would look like in the game. We got free food and drinks and an interview session with some devs that flew in to Berlin just for that event. I was honestly blown away by how much thought they put into everything. Then we played the game and 10 minutes later I was back at the buffet drowning my disappointment in coke zero and raspberry cupcakes

The fact that Redfall isn't an Epic Game Store exclusive is probably one of the most complimentary things you can say about the Epic Game Store.

One of the most absurd things to come out of Redfall was Harvey Smith smugly stating the evil vampires in the game are a metaphor for capitalism. No refunds, long suffering Arkane fans!

It sticks out to me that traveling somewhere just for 1.5 hours with a game seems like a waste of time, yet you could see how excited people were about doing it. Over the last few years, companies would send preview builds to people, and now are right back to something seemingly less efficient. I suspect they decided that letting people see the games for themselves without the 'exciting' paid trip and contolled environment wasn't as profitable.

This is going to sound bonkers but hear me out: as a person who loves videogames and a person who loves makeup, I see the same things happening again and again with both mediums. RU-vidr reviewers of a certain number of followers or corporate level seem to be too eager to sell their reputations. They are happy to give these unbelievable glowing reviews for the worst of the worst. We have to seek out indie creators or sift through larger creators who actually are willing to be themselves and true. It's wild how much overlap there is in the issues that reviews have. And it's such a bummer.

Well, one good thing came out of Red Fail, I got turned on to Prey from the comparisons in it's reviews. Sweet video, always so 👍

Dark messiah of might and magic holds a special place in my heart, it has one of the best meele systems till this day and is an overall cool game..i was very sad when i played dishonoured and the good combat system from Dark messiah wasnt there...good game apart from this tho.

52:50 - Ahhh Austin Tx. 30 years ago it was a college hippy city, pretty cool. Then it became "the cool party city" and now its biggest events reflect the cities problems - SXSW was meant to highlight local bands when the college kids left the city for spring break and now its ONLY out of town big name bands. Whole Foods is from Austin Tx as well and very similar - started off as a hippy thing, became big, then sold out to Amazon.Austin always had a homeless problem but it has become SO bad out there. I cannot even have a conversation without being hit up for cash by a bum every single minute. Of course downtown stinks now and the local government says they can camp anywhere (even in front of your house) but they cannot camp on government property or in the "good" neighborhoods where the politicians live. Man, you God of War "Meme review" was so, SO spot on.

I played this game. Got to the final boss. It was set up where you needed to activate three pillars or whatever to damage the boss. Every now and then she would attack you, and one of these attacks throws you back. You have to press x on the pillar for about 5 seconds. Just enough time to watch the attack come in and push you back. The last pillar was glitched. This raging dumpster fire wouldn’t even allow me the pleasure of actually finishing it.

I’ll say this much. As an indie game developer, I’d rather have someone like you review the game I’m working on, than someone from a mainstream gaming outlet. You’d at least give honest feedback.

I feel really bad for my gf. She was looking forward to this for *years*, being that the premise is what her ideal game would look like: Co-op, open world, vampires. I knew it was going to be a fermented abortion but didn't have to heart to say anything. But I almost jumped out my chair and shouted "NO!" when she was on the store page, asking if she should preorder. I just reminded her of how disappointed she was when she bought Deathloop. "Just wait, never preorder anything." I said stoically. Luckily, she played Redfall on my Game Pass account. She was oddly silent about it, never said anything to my knowledge. Never played a single time beyond release day.

It’s such a shame because a vampire hunting game in sleepy, sea-side New England town is my dream game. Salems Lot meats Far Cry crossed with Alan Wake would be a joy. The biggest insult is that they included the ability to turn on sink taps for no reason while actual gameplay mechanics are completely broken and underdeveloped.

The plan with gamepass could be summed up by the WEF. "You will own nothing and be happy". On top of that I'm thinking you'll be allowed to "play" most of the games but in order to play them long enough to beat them, "unlock" all of the better gear, weapons, vehicles, levels and quests you'll need to shell out more for content for games you don't even own. And the majority of the games will be utterly shit.

Luckily for me I was the idiot nr2- game pass owner. After official gameplay trailer dropped I was rather looking forward to to game, and when I did the first benchmark I was... absolutely confused. Sub-par performance with or without DLSS, no graphical fidelity (this is payday 2 level, at best) and non-existant combat. Let alone fetch quests. I knew something was off, but even back in day 1 launch, I did not find the energy to go deeper, and was happy i did not fork out a fortune for this mess. However, your review outlined all of the things that were in back of my mind while playing it. Calling this game trash, would be an insult to trash. Great review Sir!

hey 21 kiloton, i highly recommend trying out playing vr games! walking dead saints and sinners, la noire vr, half life alyx... boneworks.. all of these are excellent games that genuinely put a lot of life back into gaming for me. i dusted off my headset 4 months ago and basically still loving it. and no, you do NOT need to put thousands of dollars into gear to be able to play. your current computer can play vr, and a used oculus quest 2 is like 200 dollars. i live in poland and i dont have a job at the moment and i could still afford it. other than that, a pleasant video to watch as always. :)

It's good to know that I'm not the only one when it comes to being aware of just how shit gaming and entertainment in general has become. Gaming has been dying for a very long time now and people are slowly starting to wake up from the dream, but will that change anything? Perhaps things will eventually change... But one can only hope. My yearly Game Pass subscription was due shortly after redfall was released. I've had it for 4 years, I let it lapse. Something had better change drastically with Xbox before I lose all hope and jump off this platform.

Im glad somebody finally called out this hype around Sarah Bond, and its indeed ironic so many thing Spencer and his team are kittens; considering him and his team had to fought hard to get where they are now. When it comes to these TOS'S, dont assume everything in there is legally vaiid. Taking The Netherlands where I reside as an example; whether I willingly or unknowingly sign my rights away through a TOS. According to Dutch constitution I cant sign away fundamental rights that are protected /garuanteed by the Dutch constitution & laws. People often assume everything in TOS is legally binding, but that simply not the case. Technically in most countries corporations are "free" to put whatever they want in a TOS, but there is a huge BUT. If something in an TOS conflicts with existing national law or a treaty aq ountry has signed; whatever it was in the TOS isnt legally binding. Of course these things differ per country, so always check what your rights are based on your local consumer protection legislation. The gaming industry loves to take advantage of the vast majority of gamers who dont know anything about the legal protection they enjoy through their national consumer protection legislation. The worst thing is that most gaming RU-vidrs (of whome many have been gaming for decades) these days just role along with all the bs. Between 2009 & 2015 there was quite a lot of resistance towards Third Wave Feminism taking over gaming and various corporate scummy practices, but sadly the on & offline terror campaigns of that era worked. Plus at the same time the huge influx of casuals during the last part of the previous gen (when SIE first party games dropped) also over shadowed the traditional gamer; and gave rise to gamer as a fan and fan of a company; followed suit by corporations brainwashing many that we all formed a community with the same values and goals. Not that it coud have been prevented, but gaming being embraced by the decaying interest of mainstreet is largely responsible for the abysmal state gaming has been for more then a decade now. I seriously dont know any rich sub culture that became better after mainstreet took over.
