I'm an Indigenous Australian, and I noticed your expression when you saw the Indigenous lady in the opening scenes, Elder Rene Kulitja. She is not of my tribal people, I am Wiradjuri, but I'm very happy we as a people were not forgotten or ignored like we so often are, and she was there as well as the dancers from Bangarra Dance Theatre. I love Australia and all the people who now make up our country, I always have and I always will, and I'm especially proud of all the people who get along and accept each other for whoever they are as Aussies one and all

I'm not even born here. I moved here as a pre-teen, and this still hits me hard, lol. It's not my mother-country, but I feel it.... both for Australia and Finland.

Thats a famous song by an Australian who gained early fame overseas in the USA - Peter Allen. Its been adopted as one of the two unofficial anthems of Australia (the other being I am you are we are Australian - by the Seekers). This is actually an advert for Qantas airlines, one of the oldest airlines in the world. Qantas stands for Queensland And Norther Territory Air Service - it used to be our national airline but it went private a long time ago.

I'm an Australian now living in America. The first time I heard this song since I've been in America, I reacted like you did. It doesn't matter how long it's been since I lived in Australia, it will always be my home. This song has such an emotional response for Australians when they are far from home and can really bring on the tears.

You don't need to apologise for being emotional, this song makes me all nostalgic and emotional too, and I am living in Australia. You did bring up a really good point and I think many forget how lucky we are. But even if you aren't from Australia it invokes feelings of home, where ever you're from. There are people out there that don't want foreigners to live in their country and they forget, most would rather be back in the country of their birth with their family and their memories. What a beautiful reaction, one that will stay with me for some time.

We cry when one of our athletes gets gold at the olympics, we cry when we recently lost two young police officers in tragic circumstances. We sometimes appear racist unfortunately but in times of tradegy, like floods or fires ,our multiculturalism shines brighter than any other country. You don’t have to be born here to be a proud Aussie. I love my country so much I actually got an award in 2002 for Best Tour Guide in Australia which was given to me by QANTAS. Yeah I’m a proud Australian.

I was a cabin crew for Qantas for 30 years … this would make most of us tear up as some trips we were away for up to 14 days

This has to make you an honorary Australian. I had been living and studying in Italy for just over two years when the pandemic hit and because of all the bureacracy, I couldn't get home until the past Christmas. It was almost five years without seeing my family and friends in Australia. I can't tell you how many times I watched this song when I was dying to get home. And I agree with you, no matter what is happening in your home country, your home is always your home. One of my best friends (hi Nkoji!) is from Nigeria and I can't wait to go with her to her hometown of Nairobi one day.

Please never forget my ancestors the Australian Convicts they were taken from their families and homeland. Used as slaves to build the country I was born in. A lot of these convicts weren’t criminals they were trying to survive the Great Depression yet these convicts have never been thanked or even acknowledged for the deaths, slavery and torture they endured. One day I pray my ancestors will be remembered and just acknowledge for what they went through and what we built along with the indigenous people of Australia. There is a white stolen generation that have never been spoken about. The convicts are never spoken about and if they are it’s in a negative light..
