Good content. My sentiments exactly. People need to recognize that most "natural hair influencers" are really just making content in order to make money and in the process making things more difficult especially for individuals who are not feeling securev about their natural hair.
@VernitaIvelina
@VernitaIvelina 2 года назад
This is why I stopped doing so much natural hair content. After a while I figured out my routine and products that worked for me. It felt fake to keep taking PR from natural hair brands and making different videos promoting all these different products. Less is more x

I definitely agree with all those steps and people wonder why they hate doing their hair. Doing my hair is therapeutic and I look forward to it weekly. I don’t pre poo, I wash in one, I wash the length of my hair, I don’t section until I apply my deep conditioner or hair mask, I only deep condition for 20 minutes, rinse out and apply leave in and styler. The styling is what takes me time because I’m gentle to my hair and careful not to break it. But some people say the extra steps help but it’s because they go so long without washing and that shedded hair gets trapped into the hair causing knots and tangles.

Thank you for reinforcing these points. Sadly the public have taken RU-vidrs as ‘experts’ and they are not. Many times a lot of them have categorically said it that they are simply sharing what works for ‘them’. It is our responsibility to pick and choose what works for us and do that.

I love that you've taken the lead in stopping the "madness" of following all the natural hair trends. I've felt overwhelmed with all the information, experiences and perspectives, and feel like it's time to dial it back, take a minimalist approach by going back to the basics, and focus on being consistent. Thank you for the courage to do what's best for you, even if it goes against the trends. I don't believe we need to spend all day or weekend on our hair. We've overcomplicated the process, which makes it additionally frustrating and confusing. BTW, I wouldn't describe what you're doing as "lazy," I'd simply say you're a minimalist, which is enough for most of us, honestly. Thanks, sis.

Thank you! Your comment is so relatable and yes I would agree that I’m adopting a more minimalist approach. I’m sure there are many other ladies starting to take a simple approach or maybe already have stopped following natural hair trends, I’m happy to join them lol! I just refuse to believe that our hair should be such a burden, I think we have been taught that. 💕

Listen y'all. I agree. I think most RU-vidrs actually don't tell the truth! I stopped following a lot of their routines. I went back to my old African routine. I use grease, I wash my hair every 48 hours (in Africa way back in the day we washed our hair x2 a day and it GREEEEEWWWW). I don't have a wash day. I just wash my hair. I have not trimmed my hair since 2018. I am not scared of putting protein on my hair. My hair profile 4C, HP, HD.

I’m grateful that people take the time to do these videos like yourself. I would have never knew about Amla, henna, or anything if it wasn’t for RU-vid. People don’t want to take care of themselves. They don’t even care about their hair. So if I can go online to get information, I’m grateful.

Good on you, I have been hollering from the roof top about these natural hair youtubers. You do what your hair likes, all I do is wash, deep condition, leave in/oil maybe butter and that's it. I wash my whole head not just my scalp and trim. These youtubers make up all these contraptions, thing is everyone hair is different along with growth, plus it's all in the genes, my hair is tailbone length. What's good for you may not be good for someone else. Good on you sis!!

I was thinking of changing my regimen and staying away from heat. Watching those videos made me terrified of heat, but I wanted to. Without heat protection, and with High Porosity hair, I can wash monthly and blowdry it and be fine. Just as it was when I was a child. And I really like it especially since I can care for my own hair.

I don’t think they are unnecessary. For example the Indian clay brought my curls back. Herbs made my hair stronger. I feel they all work. Some people just need to find what they like or what works and stick with it. Don’t change up because you watched a video. I can do all that in 1 hr.

Ayurvedic herbs definitely took my hair to another level length and strength wise. Are they "necessary"?... absolutely not, and it possible to misuse them, but for me it was a cherry on my low manipulation sundae.

I think its a bit unfair to dismiss natural hair bloggers about educating ppl and making money out of it. I was completely ignorant about looking after my afro hair. My hair was sooo damaged through lack of care and attention, plus a busy lifestyle. I can honestly say that some of these natural hair videos have really helped me understand how to take care of my beautiful, versatile afro hair. For me, black haircare is like an Art and a Science and thanks to a lot of these hairtubers, my hair is flourishing and I'm in love with it. And why not make money from it? Millions of ppl are making money on RU-vid!! This is the sign of the times!!

I’m not dismissing natural hair bloggers. I used to be one and I know that my content helped/still helps people. I did mention in this video that I learnt a lot from watching natural hair bloggers on RU-vid. But then I got to a point where I felt like I now knew my own hair enough to not watch those videos anymore. I also have no problem with people making money from the content they put out. Happy to hear that your hair is flourishing and that RU-vid has really helped your journey! 💕

@curlynella1011
@curlynella1011 2 года назад
@@mkb5984 yeah majority aren’t paying that’s why RU-vidrs are saying now that free products do not pay their bills. It use to be the wave to get free products but they are too demanding about when they want their review put out and etc and they aren’t are paying. They are only willing to pay if you get hundreds of thousands views. You can only get so much free product before the products start to spoil before you even get to them. That’s why the RU-vidrs randomly start giving away product 💯

I really appreciate this video. These comments are well on point with the natural community. Do what you feel you need for YOUR hair. Some people don't care for other things in life the way they put so much emphasis on hair care. So yessss- just live, it's just hair after all. 😊💕🌹

I never followed trends .I just listened to my hair always .I saw in Africa hair which flourish don't do much .just at kids routine and look at their hair just keep them moisturised clean and leave it alone .the less is the more.your is thick and long and the thickness suits your face .perfection. 4 hours wash day ? You still doing too much .my grandma had african 4c hair waist length her nickname was mermaid .she never spent over 30 minutes in the shower 😉protective styles are protective especially for 4c hair .however it become destructive when too tight .kept too long or not well done (technic) and not all protective styles don't work for everyone .protective styles grow hair if you only use your hair and you do it right !.even 2 cornrows is protective style and you do the right thing not leaving your hair all the time this is the original style we are talking about afro hair ends need to stay in style to stay moisturised if you want to retain lenght

I agree. Some videos were promising quick results and got me desperate for fast hair growth. My hair broke a lot of times with trying each and every remedy that promised fast results. I did the same thing as you. I stopped following each and every remedy I came across and my hair is now growing very strong. However, I would like to highlight that I learned a lot about natural hair products, herbs and care through those many videos (bloggers) I saw and through the mistakes I made with my hair.

I think all of the extra steps and extra products make the next wash day super hard. I try to keep things as simple as possible because I have chronic pain and fatigue and I can either cut my hair short again, or keep things less complicated.
@weirdmyst7963

It takes 20 minutes max to wash and condition my hair. People go under dryers and prepoo and take 4 hours on their hair before the style. None of that worked for me. Now, I try what I want and be mindful that I can cut it if I want, it's not that deep. (Been wanting to dye it blue and purple but I have HP hair)

That’s the same point I’m at yeah they work for me but I’m over doing them over n over n over n then my hair seems to grow more when I leave it alone so I’m finishing my last treatments then I’m back to not doing anything to it I love my big chops n shave offs but I’m focusing on growing my hair back long healthy and full idc about the trends or other ppl results anymore just my own journey
