I was so excited to see my mom’s wedding dress and bridal shower dress make an appearance in this video-such an honor to to included with your overview of your 365 days project. 🥰 I knew sending you her dresses was the right call to make! 😁 And I love how you honored your mom when you traveled to Europe. Our mamas are everything. 💕
@@baileyanderson6824 in mid 20th century it was once considered as erotic, alluring, sensual undergarment-half slip specially half slip have hemline like lace, it's peeking out from underneath skirt was seen as visual appealing.
Cried watching the bit about your mum as I'm also coming to terms with the reality of losing my mother to cancer as she's stage 4. Thanks for making me realise life does go on and you can still find ways to honour them ❤
Bless your heart I just recently lost my mother January 27, 2023. My father isn’t ready for me to get most of the things that were left for me. I have been able to get some of her clothing and I have been wearing some and her shoes just to be close to her. The statement you made is so very true how we attach meaning to clothing and memories ♥️🙏
I actually relate to this. When I was eleven I was given my grandfather’s green sweater (Pop Pop died when I was five), and I wore that sweater until it came apart! I don’t buy too many vintage things, but I tend to buy things reflective of the 40’s and 50’s. My brother and sister in law once got me a really nice cowl collared sweater with waist pockets, I was so surprised and my brother said “I know you like old fashioned stuff”, so it’s great to see people looking back while going forward. I keep looking for a 50’s style tuxedo jacket that will fit me!
Your grandmother has fantastic taste ,and It's so cool that your In to It too. I really like the early styles where you pair the clothes up with gloves and hats.
Just love everything you've shared. I feel the same way about clothes. I have 2 dresses from the late 40s my grandmother made they are fitted and guess what I now know whose body I have. She passed when I was 4. Keep sharing and wearing. I am 68 and I love the 40s 50s 60s styles. You are beautiful.
Somehow managed to catch you on the first week of the year of styling, and honestly it was a highlight of my day seeing what you had put together. Helped me discover a deep love for 70s and 80s that I did not realise I had. I loved the range and the bold choices you sometimes had to make to get a piece to work with what you had. Top creativity! ❤ Thank you for sharing your collection and your family stories with everyone. Truly has been an honour to hear all that history ❤
Love this so much and your journey with fashion, especially with your mum’s pieces. My mum sadly passed away as well, but I always remember her preference for flowly tunics like in the 70s, which my style has gravitated to as well. Would love to see more in that area, but all your videos are fantastic, keep up the amazing work, I’m sure your family is proud wherever they are 🖤
You're so lucky to have vintage collection to begin with! ❤ Me being chubby will never fit on my mother's old clothes but she's never saved any of them. I'm not sure why some people would expect you to wear vintage everyday. You don't have to because I believe that our role as vintage fashion lovers of this generation is to incorporate old with the new and be our own versions. You got me addicted watching your Shorts. I'm finally subscribed. ❤
I agree as someone that really doesn't have any woman in my family left I think it is amazing that you are creating a community with cloths. Its so nice to see good people willing to share their passion.
I found you on accident recently and have loved your content! I wish I'd had relatives pass me on vintage clothing, but alas, they never kept anything like this. I do have some vintage knickknacks from my grandmother and a few I've managed to thrift, though! Looking forward to anything that you put out in the future!
What you did is admirable. I hope that many design styles will make a comeback at some point. Perhaps you could contribute to this revival. ;-) The blue blazer is indeed perfection - feminine and classy. I can't believe that the crochet jacket was made in the 1930s or 1940s; it looks so elegant and contemporary, as you said, timeless.
It’s so sad that people often are put in a position, even if only in a minor way to have to explain and defend doing something that they love that does nothing to harm anybody else. They want to label everything is hoarding if they don’t like what you do, if they don’t like you, if they don’t like you having things, or they don’t like that you were able to preserve things is another thing. I think it’s awesome that her family saved preserved all of these items these collections. In my mind, I sometimes think of David Bowie, and like what would it be like if people were falling him around telling him you’re a hoarder stop saving all of your costumes. Fortunately, if you’re in a position to tell those people to blank off that, it’s not too much of a issue and you can do as you want.
Great video! I love fashion--my favorite style is 'edwardian' from 1910-1916. Just because the beautiful lines and it was when freedom was coming into the fit and design
God bless you Gabi 💕 you're a real treasure 🥰 when your videos pop up l am often reminded of clothing my Mum and Nan, both long gone, used to wear, thanks ❤😢
Inspired me to wear my grandmother’s cardigan tomorrow. It’s just sitting in my wardrobe. I have very few memories of her as she died when I was very young but I love having something that was hers.
Hello from Perth, Western Australia. I just came across your channel last night and I think you are great, so much energy and fun. You have a great collection from what I have seen thus far so in terms of what I personally would like to see more of is clothing from the 20s, 30s, and 40s as they are my favourite eras. Great content, really looking forward to seeing what you do next. Your makeup is great too, really refine DNA understated, which suits you. From Amanda
My mom died recently and for the past few weeks I had to throw away her things, and I've been wondering is it disrespectful to wear her clothes or not. I have a conflict about it with my brother. I really want to save her clothes for certain, but do not know if it's right to wear them. I don't wear makeup, and she absolutely loved it, and she loved diamond jewellery, but I look stupid in it, so I decided to give it away to her sisters, I'm glad my brother did not mind. It kills me to rummage through her belongings and decide for her. She had a great moral compass and would certainly give me an ethical answer, but she's not here anymore, so I'm glad I found this video. I want to thank you, wish I had the time to show her your videos. I'm sorry that you lost your mother, and I'm glad you make videos.
First off, you have the most incredible background of amazing women❤😊 lowkey jealous but even more inspired bc I’m so glad you got over the fear of being perceived in order to educate and share with us all these fun facts and beautiful pieces. Truly LIVEEE for your channel I love it so much you’re my favorite I’m getting emotional when u get emotional in this vid😢
I would love to see you vintage thrift. What could you find? Where would you wear it? What tips do you have for buying vintage? You wouldn't even have to buy it, just do try ons. I would also think a costume shop around Halloween could be fun. You could ebay vintage costumes too? Love the content.
I’m definitely keeping all my clothes when I get older and I really want to collect vintage clothes too!! I adore this channel so much because every video is very interesting I love clothes too and how fashion changes over the years
What a wonderful video! Thank you Gabi for sharing your passion for such a glorious familial gift. It is evidently so genuine and appreciated. And you blend the disparate styles with true aplomb. I would absolutely love to rock such a joyous variety of outfits every day of my life. Please continue to relish, cherish, and thrive! M xXx
Such an interesting&touching video! I have also got some assesoires from my late mum,- may her beautiful soul rest in piece! - and they make me think of her.
I love how this is a uniquely feminine experience. Men wear clothes, but our physical appearance is much less important as compared to women. There's so much style, creativity, culture and expression women share with fashion. It's a very special part of the human experience.
Regarding the vintage jeans being a perfect fit, it's entirely possible that you have a vintage figure. Many Americans are no longer fit enough to wear such shapely clothes.
The moment she said g-ma had a story, i knew it wld end in 1 of 2 ways but either way the message wld be the same: appreciate everyday. share, show, use your things bc that's why they exist. In my fam & for most of my friends, the person died never having the chance to use THIS. However, when I hear a version from folks i don't know, it's usually the thing that's destroyed or stolen before the person is ever able to use IT. I'm not saying her gma's story isn't real. I'm sure most of us have met at least one person that's waiting for the perfect moment to use whatever. Since so many people do that sort of thing then there's definitely gonna be someone that has their whatever stolen or destroyed OR that dies prior to being able to use The Whatever
Oh I am so disappointed. I actually know people who wear vintage, work in a vintage clothing store, live vintage. It's very hard and I don't ever want to do that but in my mind you were living vintage. Thanks for showing us your collection though.
