Loved this video as I also got on the chatGPT van and just for fun, asked it for a pho recipe last week...it was a big nope! The recipe it gave did not sound flavorful at all as it didn't ask to cook beef bones for an extended time. I think it was like 30 minutes whether you used chicken or beef. I knew right away it was off. LOL! But it's totally helped me with Python coding stuff as I'm a beginner and it really helped me understand stuff better (but I hear it also makes mistakes so you have to double check what it says).

The peanut sauce for me was weird too! I’d def be using tried and tested sites for other cuisines before asking chatGPT. It’s fun to play with it though and ask random questions just to see what it spits out hahah

@@honeysuckle I think if you want to keep using it for "free" you have to train it to give better answers (you can thumbs up or down the answers to the right of the screen). Now that I think about it, I should have trained it to make better pho. LOL! Also, you can keep on asking it and refining it's response as long as you're in the same thread since it'll remember the conversation.

@@honeysuckle I told my nephew to ask it to write his resume. It can do some really unique stuff and so quickly! Keep in mind, it's only able to answer questions up to about 1 1/2 years ago so it doesn't know current events.

I like the idea of using the AI to get ideas when you have some fresh ingredients you want to use up but can't think of a recipe. Then take those ideas, and like you said, make changes to your own tastes and intuition.

I think you are spot on with your commentary: the AI is in the end a robot without the warmth of human touch, and so much of the culinary experience is based on our cultural background and childhood upbringing that vary from person to person, nevermind from country to country. That's why there are many restaurants from the same culinary origin yet each one is unique. Super interesting video, looking forward to the next one!

Loved all the creativity and work you & Nate & your mom put into this!! So fun! I really liked your ending thoughts about intuition, touch, smell and taste as a cook. An AI cannot replace a real life human. Also, I believe there’s an extra set of ears when I’m home alone~ Amazon Alexa will occasionally say “Ok” for NO reason! So creepy. Have a Happy New year 🎉!

I love this video and I want to commend that your videos lately have been so interesting; you've really been putting yourself out there and I want to acknowledge you for that. Would you be doing more RU-vid shorts? I think it'd be cool if you created a tiktok channel to drive more viewers to your videos. It would be a learning curb but an interesting way to pose questions like what questions younger cooks have, etc.?
@honeysuckle
@honeysuckle Год назад
Thank you so much for taking the time to acknowledge this! It’s a transition time for the channel but I just wanted the videos to be more dynamic since food is so much more than just recipes. And I have a tiktok! it’s under dzunglewis tho cause honeysuckle was taken. We have a separate RU-vid shorts channel too - under Honeysuckle Shorts!

With the most recent update to ChatGPT, would be interesting to see an updated video of this? Edit: Considering there are a several artificial large language model platforms out there, perhaps doing a contest to see which presents the best recipe like an Iron Chef, or AI, presentation might be a good video idea, certainly unique.

For those of you wondering whether A.I. will take over your job...ChatGPT certainly has limitations as Dzung pointed out and I'll explain why. In a field called Knowledge Management, there's a heirarcy of information. Here's the order from the lowest to highest: 1) data, 2) information, 3) knowedge and 4) wisdom. Obviously, A.I. can recommend a specific recipe, but it isn't at a point where it can get into the nitty gritty....by suggesting substitutions or recommending certain tips and and tricks. In other words A.I. in the form of ChatGPT can't acquire the knowedge nor develop any widsom because the top two levels are based on experience. Over time, A.I. might be able to gauge whether this or that is a popular recipe based on the number of request it receives. But it's not gaining any experience in the practice of cooking. Although there might be some cool tasks A.I. can perfom, it will have difficulty rising above its current performance level.

You should do a part two. Gpt4o is much better. This is the new answer to the same prompt: Sure! Here's a creative Vietnamese fusion appetizer for four: **Crispy Vietnamese Spring Rolls with Spicy Mango Dipping Sauce** **Ingredients:** *For the Spring Rolls:* - 8 rice paper wrappers - 200g shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped - 100g pork belly, thinly sliced - 1 carrot, julienned - 1 cucumber, julienned - 1/2 cup bean sprouts - 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves - 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves - 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves - 50g rice vermicelli, cooked and drained - Vegetable oil for frying *For the Spicy Mango Dipping Sauce:* - 1 ripe mango, peeled and diced - 1 clove garlic, minced - 1 small red chili, chopped - 1 tablespoon fish sauce - 1 tablespoon lime juice - 1 teaspoon sugar - 1 tablespoon water **Instructions:** 1. **Prepare the Filling:** - In a medium pan, cook the chopped shrimp and sliced pork belly until fully cooked. Set aside to cool. - Once cooled, combine the shrimp, pork, carrot, cucumber, bean sprouts, mint, cilantro, basil, and cooked rice vermicelli in a large bowl. 2. **Assemble the Spring Rolls:** - Dip a rice paper wrapper in warm water for about 10 seconds until it softens. Lay it flat on a clean surface. - Place a small portion of the filling mixture on the bottom third of the wrapper. Fold the sides inward, then roll tightly from the bottom up, securing the filling inside. - Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling. 3. **Fry the Spring Rolls:** - Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. - Fry the spring rolls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. - Remove and drain on paper towels. 4. **Prepare the Spicy Mango Dipping Sauce:** - In a blender, combine the mango, garlic, red chili, fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, and water. Blend until smooth. - Adjust seasoning to taste. 5. **Serve:** - Arrange the crispy spring rolls on a platter and serve with the spicy mango dipping sauce on the side. Enjoy your Vietnamese fusion appetizer!

I loved the video. It was a very interesting topic. It was nice to meet your mom on this video. She is lovely! You made good points about what AI will never be able to accomplish. I think, if anything,AI is geared towards the newest generations that won't know any better, unfortunately. Personally as someone that loves to cook and bake, and loves traditions (and also that has your cookbook) I know that no robot can ever replace the love and family tradition that goes into recipes. I will stick with human ideas lol. I might try AI just for kicks. 😊

I'm a really basic, lazy cook. I even find googling and trying to wade through recipes exhausting. The scrolling, the lame stories, the scrolling! So now I just use (the new) GPT-4. The recipes are still better than what I might do myself. Which is to say: perfectly fine. That's my standard.

Nah I think they gave it fair chance. I've watched bunch of similar videos and some just seem intent to dunk on AI by messing up cooking intentionally. The coolest thing about AI is definitely how it's able to think of recipes out of completely random ingredients. And you could also ask for bunch of measurements the way you prefer and keep asking whenever you aren't sure about something.
