Mica is edible the same way a marble is edible if it passes through you no harm done but it can cause organ rupture if not careful. I don't think this one time thing will do much harm but I'd avoid sparkly cakes and juices especially this season.

@@amalzuhair4495 Wut? The particles of mica are so tiny and brittle, they won't do much harm when consumed. If you've ever eaten any fruit straight from a tree you've eaten soil/dirt, and mica is much the same. It's a silicate mineral, much like many other rocks on earth. Many pharmaceuticals contain silicon dioxide as a binder, and some foods also contain it. I mean, if a stone age human wanted to eat something, it would invariably contain a little bit of soil, and drinking water would have been full of particulates as well. If anything, the human digestive tract has evolved to deal with that, since eating small amounts of dirt with food was so ubiquitous for so long. The only harm that mica can cause is if you inhale a lot of fine mica particles, which will cause respiratory irritation. In fact, OSHA regulations set a limit on mica particulates in the air, but not with any other form of mica. So, yeah. It's perfectly fine. The only negative i've seen from eating too much mica powder is that your poop becomes all sparkly. Also, some places that mine mica have awful conditions and pay for the workers that have to dig it out of the ground.

Well, it depends. There are different types of food/baking/decorating glitter, depending on the manufacturer and exactly how they've chosen to label it. Originally "edible glitter" was really just very finely ground up glitter, essentially exactly the same as craft glitter. It's non-toxic, but then again so are crayons and I don't recommend eating them either. For those types of glitter there will be some fine print on the containers that says "for decorative use only". There are also food-grade "edible glitters" that are made using gelatins or cornstarch, which is a much better option if you're planning on consuming it. (There used to be a well-known cake pop maker that covered her treats in the "non toxic" ground up plastic variety of glitter/luster dust and was very defiant about using it saying well so what, it says it's non toxic so they can eat it etc etc)

I've seen that, largely, in big punch bowls with the entire half-gallon of sherbet with a bottle each of sprite and ginger ale (Though the sprite is normally replaced with a generic version in a lot of places).

I would add in that some rums are traditionally made with some sugar in it, depending on a country's tradition. But yeah something that isn't like captain Morgan should be pretty much sugar free
