@@Maximedius Not really Europeans went to everywhere in the Americas. So having English DNA isn't that strange. Also, Spanish people themselves may have English DNA.
By the way, Your Grandmothers Grandmother was probably a Berber as it is next to impossible to find someone that is 100% European in Morocco. Berbers are a people group in north africa, native and indigenous, many having blue eyes and blonde hairs at around 20%. I am Tunisian and my mothers cousins are all red hair and green eyes and are 50% berber.
Yeah, you can have light skin/eyes/hair and be non-European. Plenty of Levantine and Turkish people do. Both my grandmothers did, (one was blonde with blue eyes, the other had green eyes and reddish brown hair), my mom has hazel eyes and very light skin and brown hair and my aunt looks very similar to my mom, just with more reddish hair, as well as numerous people in my extended family, and we don't really have any recent European ancestry.
@Dragon Of The West No they weren't. No evidence of this lies. North african corpses dating up to 15,000 years ago during the neo-lithic ages and earlier have shown a direct correlation with native populations of the regions confirming an autochthonous population that has remained in north africa for over 30,000 years. The north africans have been described by egyptians to be lighter than them even and the egyptians were brown semitic peoples. Same applies with the romans description of the carthaginians, my ancestors as I am of tunisian descent.

Hes maby berber . Thats a etnic group in north africa that were there before arabs. Berbers (imazighen) are more lighter and have a higher chance of having blond or red hair and light eyes. In amazigh but i have dark curly hair and dark eyes but i do have rlly light skin
im sudanese and i've had a dna test done too!, my main regions were east africa with 43% north africa and the middle east with 42% and for some reason baltic with 6%! it great seeing a 0.5% sudanese brother 😁
He has same coloration as my brother (except a bit more tan skin tone), but very different facial features. My brother has a flatter nose and slightly slanted eyes and different face shape because we have some Turkic (Central Asian) in our DNA. But I have seen some Syrians and Palestinians who look just like him.
Exactly, the Dutch also have had a history of Viking raids in Frisia (Groningen and Friesland) and there would possibly have been a Viking settlement in Groningen but that has never been proven
@grahamparks1645 Dutch people have much more recent connection to Scandinavia. The time between 1600-1800 was known as “Hollendertiden” in Norway. There was a mass emigration from Norway to the Netherlands. They were shipbuilders, dockworkers, lumber workers and maids. Thousands emigrated. I heard that 1/3 Dutch have a significant amount of Scandinavian dna.
My family came from Hoorn in West Friesland, lived in South Africa since 1658. In my family there is the surname Swart, Streicher, Rossouw, Burger, Malan and so forth. All these surnames came before 1700. I did my DNA and its 100% European. (69% Central European so from Netherlands, Germany and France, 18% Scotland, 9% Scandinavian. Also 5% Southern European (Italy). It looks like i am more European than Europeans!!!! 🙂
Thanks for sharing! It’s hard to see from this whether you are more North African or Arabian, because these are not exactly the same thing. However. since it says Morocco, it sounds like you are more Berber than Arab.
@T Salon To come back on my comment, what we as Moroccans identify as Moroccan Berber or Moroccan Arab is what kind of language we speak. My ethnicity must be Moroccan Berber but nobody in my family speaks Berber. So that's the reason why we identify ourselves as Moroccan Arabs most of the time, this doesn't have anything to do with ancestry really. Hope that cleared some things up :)
I’m half Serbian and half British. I got 48.5% Balkan 42.5% British and Irish 4.4% French and German 3.0% Spanish and Portuguese (wasn’t expecting this 3% at all!)

you look exactly like the average amazigh/italian/spaniard and if your great grandmother was blond with light eyes she was probably amazigh,i am amazigh too and we're the oldest caucasians in africa and were depicted by ancient egyptians so long ago,one well known example of an amazigh is zineddin zidane
So your saying that Amazigh people originated in the Caucasus like Syria, Turkey, Iran and Armenia? Zinedine is an Algerian and not all Amazigh people look alike I've found and have an ancient history before written record in North Africa.
@@osiruskat hey there, I'm Amazigh too, we're concentrated in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia,Amazigh people are Mediterranean people who originated in Eurasia, some groups like the Tuareg and other groups who live in the desert can be dark because they have a history with the slave trade, they brought slaves from subsahara an even today the black Berbers are called "ikelan" and "harratin" which literally means black person or black slave, funny enough they're probably the most famous Amazigh group even though they're a minority in the Amazigh population lol I can list some studies about our origins,in ancient egypt the amazigh were depicted as fairskinned North africans are genetically diverse ,but The first large genome-wide study in North Africa analysing several North African and surrounding populations (Henn et al., 2012) said the origin of the native/amazigh North African component has an origin that is located out of Africa before the Holocene (>12 000 years ago) They also share a common ancestor with southern Europeans possibly during the upper paleolithic (around 10000 BC) as well as a 9000-year-old genetic link with the same people of northern Europe. So in a nutshell, most Amazigh and North Africans, in general, are mainly descendants of an ancient population that came to North Africa from Eurasia 12000 years ago while many are remnants of the slave trade. hope i answered some of your questions!
@@csx3180 Haplogroup e1b1b1b is the most dominant in the Amazigh genome and similar with Somalis and Horn Africans. Haplogroup E is African with a whole lot of variants. Haplogroup J is West Asian and is also primarily in North Africa, Horn Africa, Yemen and Socotra and spread into Europe. I though Harratin referred to the people of the Sahel or Western Sahara. The Iketan were people of possible Fulani descent. The Tuaregs were the hijacker or robbers of the Sahara desert. The earliest of them came out of Libya called the Garamantes and gave the ancient Egyptians a lot of problems. The haplogroup sometimes shared with southern Europeans like the Greek or Balkans is a haplogroup I also share E1b1b1ba or a variant of it that originated in either Libya or Egypt and mutated once it jumped to Europe. Most of the variants of E haplogroups mutated as they moved throughout Europe. The maternal haplogroup U6 not U5 may have an West Asian origin... Haplogroup U6 was dated to between 31,000 and 43,000 years ago by Behar et al. (2012). Basal U6* was found in a Romanian specimen of ancient DNA (Peștera Muierilor) dated to 35,000 years ago.[50] Hervella et al. (2016) take this find as evidence for Paleolithic back-migration of Homo sapiens from Eurasia into Africa. U6 is mainly in people of Morocco and Algeria only not the rest of the Magreb. Yeah the slave trade was HUGE with the Barbary pirates...outside the number of SSA slaves approximately 1.25 million people of European descent were enslaved.
@@osiruskat when talking about haplogroups the variant is what matters,in the case of the amazigh E-M81 is the most common variant while in case of horn africans it's E-M215,to give you an idea, R1b for example is the most common in west europe as well as central Africa, are germans and cameroonians related? or have germans originated in Cameroon? these sequences oF letters and numbers are just names we give to haplogroups that imply some of our earliest male ancestors as humans were shared, and once you go far enough we all share a common ancestor. the autochonous north African component is believed to have immereged outside Africa as I stated, that's the result of scientific studies, because of this,a recent genetic study published in the "European Journal of Human Genetics" in Nature (2019) showed that Northern Africans are closely related to Europeans and West Asians as well as to Southwest Asians. as for the barbary slave trade,it was short lived unlike the SSA slave trade, which is why there's VERY LITTLE european, and middle eastern admix in modern north africans (4% to a max of 16%) in comparison the average somali or ethiopian are 40% middle eastern, and the average african American is 25% european. eastern africans are almost half middle eastern and African Americans are quarter european, both groups still look subsahran, while the amazigh are astonishingly north African in ancestry yet the vast majority look completely Mediterranean, that's because we have a eurasian genetic base. our earliest ancestors brought agriculture from Eurasia and settled here.
Ethnicity Results are really merely Ethnicity Guesstimates. There are many variables that go into this guesswork; so, such is mainly an "entertainment." Now, as far as truth is concerned: a basic DNA test absolutely shows relationships between folk - & whether or not that relationship is a close one or a fairly-distant one (going back approximately 300-to-500yrs); &, a chromosomal DNA test (that is, a Y-DNA test or an M-DNA test) can show very distant relationships (going back over 100,000yrs); however, there's still educated guesswork involved in figuring out any details of a discovered relationship - & the accuracy of the guesswork often depends upon finding records & using what's learned from archeological discoveries (both of which can involve more guesswork). As DNA companies gain more DNA samples & knowledge, their ethnicity guesstimations change [& note that each company uses their own proprietary algorythm(s) which are all likely to change over time]. Results vary.

Hi Chakir, nice to see your results :-) I am not surprised by your lower than average number Neanderthal variants. Those variants ended up in humans that had moved out of Africa. So people in Africa usually have very low Neanderthal variants, in northern Africa some mixing happened with Arabs and southern Europeans that added small amounts Neanderthal DNA. Most of your variants are probably from your fathers side. And of course most 23andme customers are from outside of Africa. Btw I completely agree "it doesn't matter where you are from, just be proud of it".

They didn’t invade. They moved there in the 16-1800’s to work as seamen, lumber workers and dock workers. There was a significant emigration from Norway to 🇳🇱 over 200 years.
the Netherlands are quite a new country. And by original tribes they are frisian, which makes the mix with Germany. Because Frisians live in North Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. Btw, Germany never was a tribe but a multitude of tribes. Ok, and how does Spain come in here? For some time, the Netherlands were ruled by Spain. It's quite a long time ago, never mind. But as they were ruled by Spain, spanish people had to be there for administration. And of course their kids would marry people in the place, i.e. dutch people. So what you can see in your ancestry is just the history of the Netherlands 🙂 British, Irish, Viking: These are trading partners of the Netherlands. Never forget that the Netherlands always had a lot of harbours. So a certain mixture is normal. Btw. same with Casablanca. Of course, in a town with a famous harbour there will be a lot of foreign influence. Especially as Morocco is muslim: It was easy to have a wife in a place you often see, and divorce her after the trade stopped. E.g. after a year or so. Which explains why you have such a high percentage throughout whole Africa. But at the same time, the trade in Casablanca was between Africa and Europe, which explains why you are more than 50% European. If if the Europeans were not so fast with marriage, there might have been european traders living in Casablanca with their families. And yes, colonialism as well brought European families to Morocco.

@@abcxyz-cx4mr Spaniards do not have significan genetics from North Africa. Those are just stereotypes, usually invented in order to claim Spaniards were not trully Christians and descriminate against them. Most Spaniards do not look darker than him, some may do, of course. I know a couple Englishmen ans Swiss who look darker than him as well (and no, they are full blooded Englishmen, one of them with piercing blue eyes, but way darker skinned). However, I must say, he does look like he could be Spanish. If you pay attention to detail, you may found some facial features that look a little off, but over all, he would perfectly pass as a Spaniard. But again, don't bring the "moorish" blood of Spaniards in the conversation, because it was actually an invention with very racists intentions, and it is just not true. He just has a very generic Mediterranean look, and therefore he will pass as anyone who lives around the mediterranean area, and as a central and Eastern European as well. He does look closer to northern Mediterraneans (Southern Europeans) than North Africans. We have thousands of Moroccans in Spain and very few look as "white" as he does (though of course some do). However, truth be told, Northern Moroccans, and particularly those from the Rif region are usually quite European looking, but again, most of them have quite high percentages of Spanish ancestry.
