I went to Morocco last summer and I've got to say, the trains were better than in the UK. Yeah they were older and more crowded but the tickets were dirt cheap (for me at least, not sure about how expensive it is for locals) and were also electric, which is something the UK has actually regressed on since electric trains were invented. In the UK trains are so absurdly expensive that it's cheaper to fly to Scotland than get the train there, which is bollocks. And the Moroccan trains really weren't that bad on the inside, it was a squeeze but it wasn't that unpleasant though I did have to stand for a bit since an old woman was on my seat (same thing happens in England too). I wish Morocco all the best, shame they didn't win the world cup, I was rooting for them against the French every minute.

You went to Morocco last summer and not to "Africa"... While I know very well on which continent Morocco is located, I would not usually refer to Morocco as Africa.. By Africa we usually mean Sub-Saharan African countries. The same way you will not refer to Egyptian or Moroccan or Tunisian food as African food.

@@sonwig5186 I realise that. But the title is I took Africa's Ever HIGH SPEED TRAIN. I realise that that's where Morocco is. I can place all the 54 countries on a blank map of Africa. But I live in Kinshasa and was expecting to see a country like Kenya in a video with such a title. Likewise, will rarely refer to Egypt as Africa. Here in DRC we will almost never closely watch the progress and even compete with Morocco and Egypt, we will rather refer to development and progress made by Senegal, Cameroon, Ghana or Kenya or Tanzania, Zambia, Angola, etc. and even South Africa. Not that we hate Morocco etc. but bcs due to their geographic location and history these countries are developing very differently from the "black" Africa.

I absolutely agree and think that this absence is a fundamental competitive advantage over air travel. What I as a German train traveler still don't get are those boarding times! Why would anyone need to board a train more than 5 to 10 minutes before departure? If I only have to be at the station only very few minutes before departure, it reduces my overall travel time greatly!
@francophonie129
@francophonie129 Год назад
Indeed, if boarding gets as annoying as boarding a plane, I'll rather take a plane... And the most ridiculous part of the new boarding gates is that during your trip you may have them at one of the station but still have the old, gate-free system at the other station. Proving that the old system still works and the new one is just pointless Orwellianization in progress.

Most impressive. My only trip to Morocco was on Inter-Rail in 1986! It took about 5-6 hours for this journey. I got to Marrakech and got chatting to a friendly student who invited me to his house to sample some almond pastries, where his dad and friends were watching Serie A on TV. Appropriate timing for this video as Morocco become the first African nation to reach the World Cup semi finals. The stations and trains have changed out of all recognition. It was clearly sensible to buy tried and tested French TGV technology, and I wish the seats on our new UK Intercity trains were as comfortable as those shown here! All in all, a huge transformation of the country in the last 35 years, so kudos to Morocco.

That's because since 1999 Morocco knew a nice economical development even without ressources like oil or gas they managed to diversify their economy, they went from mainly exporting food, cheap phosphate to having Cars as it's top export as the biggest car exporter in Africa with a very high integration rate with like 70% of all components made in Morocco, and now rivaling Romania and Hungary . ggz to them, they could've developed more exponancially if this economical crisis didn't happen, even these past 10 years it changed imensely, I'm always amazed by the change when i get the chance to go there, some places are as modern as western Europe and others sadly still lag behind, but they have the will, hope for a better future for Morocco.

@@Yanzdorloph Thanks, that's very interesting. I had wondered what was supporting Morocco's economy so that they could afford all the infrastructure - without even the aid of EU loans or grants! @Yanzdorloph
@Yanzdorloph Год назад
@@iankemp1131 I mean, the European Union kinda helps too in very big projects, for example this TGV thing, 50% of it was financed by a loan probably wth low interests from the EU(Morocco does these projects for a lot cheaper than the same stuff in Europe, this TGV thing was built from scratch for only 2billions Euros, can't even link 20km places with trains in the Uk for 2Billions). and so were the solar energy farm the biggest in the world, and so will the pipeline between Morocco and Nigeria, billions from the project will probably be financed by loans from the EU.

Not to mention its citizens' hospitality, it's definitely known for its friendly , generous and kind people. I personally believe it got the best people in the world , full of passion and patriotism, it was well demonstrated in the world cup as Morocco's crowd was the largest and most impressive among all even tho there was bigger and stronger teams playing with history in football, Morocco's people solidarity, passion , and union was well represented. the "morocco this way, airport this way" video of moroccan fans showing themselves the way to the airport after they lost to croatia still gets me lmao truly best people. Same goes for my city's main station, Kraków Główny. A heritage building served as this station's cash desks until 2014, when they moved from Jan Nowak-Jeziorański Square to Bosacka Street (but the main entrance is from Aleksander Lubomirski street (near roundabout). It's an elevated station, on viaduct.

Since long, Morocco's railway has been the "most European of all the African networks", you can find the same trains there that also run in France, Belgium or Italy. So it's no wonder it's now Africa's fastest by far, certainly a remarkable achievement. I haven't been there yet, even though Morocco is (or was) included in Interrail (and so it became an exotic end destination for a number of European travellers). Perhaps I'm going to wait a few more years, if the network gets expanded as shown that would be exciting. (There are even plans for an undersea connection to Spain ...)

The fastest trains I was on were in mainland China. 350km/h between Guilin North and Shenzhen North. Beautiful landscape, so many mountains. And the Maglev in Shanghai went 430 km/h, but that was a very short ride, just from the airport to the city.

I have taken the Meglev train from Shanghai's Pudong airport to the city, and it reaches 420km per hour. It's interesting to experience the train from the opposite direction passing you on the track next to you. It was quicker than a blink and a light shake. When I told my wife that a train just passed by, going the opposite direction, she asked incredulously, "what train?" 😂

@@utopiatech4546 There is a country called Algeria that struggles in food and water crises yet still spend a ton of money against Morocco. Nowhere on the planet such inferiority complex exists, the funny thing is you are still trying despite half a century of failure. Let me remind you of the quarter million died in Algeria in a ten years long brutal civil war caused by elections, yet, Algerian claim they support self determination rights while ignoring Kabyle.
