@@MercyOfDarkness Maybe some people will start to have diets that accommodate insect protein but not other meats, like how pescatarians eat fish but no other animals
food critics and chefs, by and large, are always excited to try new things and are rarely squeamish about food. also you don't get to be a food critic without eating a bunch of very weird dishes
@@junkmail2223 good, see that sewer over there? those food critics probably already salivating over Mystery bugs that crawling there, and they probably can't wait to taste that Garbage juice as well.
I'm allergic to shellfish and cockroaches have a similar protein reaction, so, do take care when pranking people. You really don't want to send them into anaphylaxis.
Even "normal" food is dangerous that way, especially with alpha-gal allergies being more common these days. So absolutely, no serving food you don't know for a fact is safe to the people who will eat them.
I'm happy that the food critics took the surprise really well and saw how it made sense. they weren't at all grossed out, which shows their level of professionalism and respect for what they do, and I admire that.
Slater is on the food team on the youtube channel Sorted Food. Mostly behind the camera stuff, but he occasionally shows up in front of it, and they're all about sustainability and lessening waste. I absolutely knew he'd be fine with it.
Honestly it’s not unhinged at all as it is pretty normal in the other parts of the world as is said in the video. Personally I’ve eaten roasted crickets and it was pretty good.
you should make a video literally just making normal food for your family and they think something bad is gonna happen, when there’s nothing wrong, it’s just dinner
I appreciate Max's family cautiousness around everything he offers them at this point, yet I'm surprised they're even willing to be part of this, knowing full well it's gonna be for a video one way or another
That is an awesome idea, lobster was actually food for the poor, we could technically do the same with insects and simply hype it up and hunt them down till they get so expensive that every rich person will eat them without questioning...
I have only had positive experience with "buffalo worms" (rebranded specific type of fly larvae), ridiculously tasty like a nutty flavour type of whole grain. I've tried it roasted whole along a salad in a restaurant, as premade burger patties (together with wheat inside iirc) from a super market, and as pre-made spicy and herbal meat balls (together with quinoa inside IIRC) from some frozen food delivery service. This was all like a decade or so ago though.
Bringing in the giant robo-roach was adding insult to injury I know that bugs are a viable food source that we should be looking more into, but it’s hard to come to terms with that when you see them moving around.
@@TreeGod. uhh.. according to google: Bugs are a great source of protein, healthy fats, and essential vitamins and minerals. They are also more sustainable to raise and consume compared to traditional livestock, as they require less water, food, and land to produce the same amount of protein from physics forums
Indeed, this is very unsafe. Someone could have easily been allergic to a specific bug and get allergic reaction and died. You cannot feed people something they don't know what it is.
@@ThePunischer1000 First, do you really consider insects to be food? "Well yes, I would like to become a food critic, but since I am allergic to a bug, I cannot be" - highly unlikely. Second, people may not be even aware of their condition. I for sure have never been tested for allergic reaction to all those thousands of bugs that I may or may not consume - I just don't eat insects.
I cooked for a lot of parents of my highschool once (they did know we used insects) it was really well received by most people, it ended up tasting really nice. Okay maybe not all the dishes but that's not the insects fault
I honestly can see a use for insects as food. For example on space missions they would be an easy source of food since seeing as they tend to replenish their numbers quickly and grow into adulthood faster. I would even argue that a cricket taco like in the video would taste better than an MRE. I think the issue is pushing for bugs to be the only option for consumers. I wouldn't stand for that. But if we can get over our fear of insects + produce them in a sanitary environment, they could potentially change the game for things like a long voyage in space, as an emergency food source etc. People eat things like crayfish, mollusks etc. so I don't really see how it as odd to have certain species of insects. I would never choose an insect meal over a steak, but over starvation it would only make sense
Bringing in the giant robo-roach was adding insult to injury 😅 I know that bugs are a viable food source that we should be looking more into, but it’s hard to come to terms with that when you see them moving around.

Always giving us the boldest and most innovative videos 😂. Love your channel, Max. Also Fallout is absolutely great. Really well made. Makes me want to replay the games.
Another Max Fosh weird food video! AWESOME as always mate! Cheers 🍻 when I visit London someday I owe you a pint 🍺 your channel has given me so much enjoyment over the years it’s the least I can do…
Dear Max Fosh, I am in a large group chat called Alpha Delta Kappa Pi (it’s a long story). ADKP began as a peaceful community, but it soon started to develop darker intentions. People are discriminated, it is a dictatorship, and there are unfair tests and laws enforced upon every member. Recently, a video has resurfaced of a member (let’s call her J) saying that she was “a sigma” which is forbidden in ADKP. She was then stripped of her president title and forced to make a Karma by Jojo Siwa music video (makeup, costumes and all). We were originally going to democratically elect a leader, however J decided to elect leaders herself, with no one else’s input, thus causing those who wanted to run for leadership’s opportunities to be erased. Me and my friend (who is also a member of ADKP) wanted to start a revolution to put an end to this totalitarian government and make Alpha Delta Kappa Pi a democracy. We need support for this revolution and we are wondering if you could be so kind as to reply to this comment confirming your support for this revolution. Thank you! Best regards, Abby
@@E55666 Bugs, more specifically crickets, are a lot more protein efficient compared to animals such as cows. They are 65% protein by weight compared to cows (23%) and tofu (8%), and provide all essential amino acids as well as minerals such as magnesium. They require less feed to make the same amount of "meat" that cows or chickens do and 80-100% of a cricket can be eaten compared to around 50% of cows or poultry.
Dang max has grown significantly throughout these years congrats man I remember recommending you to my friends when you had 400k subs because you always had banger videos
