The moment in the video when this chick said at 2:06 "The thought of having a bunch needles poking out of your body sounds terrifying, why would anyone do this to themselves", while the camera immediately focused on the scary looking piercing next to her lower lips, was priceless.

I've been getting acupuncture for TMJ and migraines for years. I knew other people who'd had good results with it, and figured best case, it helps me, worst case, I get poked with a few needles. Turns out I hadn't even realized how much pain I was in until it went away.. I'm in more of a maintenance mode now and could definitely tell the difference last year when I wasn't able to go regularly due to COVID.
@kilmorecombine0
@kilmorecombine0 3 года назад
Wanted to ask you 2 questions. The 1st question is how immediate were you able to feel the effects, How long did it take for the migraines to go away? The 2nd question was how long Did it last until you had to go for a second treatment?
@LolaGeek
@LolaGeek 3 года назад
I had 2 treatments in the first week and noticed a vast improvement in my jaw pain. My treatment plan went from weekly to bi-weekly to monthly, and now I go once a month for maintenance. If I miss a visit (or a few, as happened over the past year), I definitely notice an increase in migraines.

@@LolaGeek thank you for your info. One last question. How much roundabout was the cost of your session? If you don't mind me asking?

I'm honestly not sure, I pay up front for a year's worth of appointments, and my insurance covers most of the cost. I'm sure prices vary between doctors and cities as well.

Say what you want about it. Acupuncture is the only thing that got me to stop biting my nails. I had a serious nail biting problem and nothing worked. To the point where they would bleed and become infected. I wouldn’t even have a nail on some fingers until they grew back. Not even anxiety medicine helped. I tried acupuncture because I know someone who did it and said to just give it a try. I have not bitten my nails in over 10 years now. I am never anxious or stressed anymore either. Idk how but it worked.

Acupuncture vs. Dry Needling Acupuncture and dry needling are often confused with each other. Both procedures involve the insertion of needles into the skin. However, there are some important differences between these two procedures. Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine that has been used for over 3000 years. It is based on the belief that there is a life force energy, known as qi, that flows through the body. The goal of acupuncture is to restore balance to the body by correcting any imbalances in the flow of qi. Dry needling is a relatively new procedure that has only been used for the past few decades. It is based on the Western medical model of anatomy and physiology. The goal of dry needling is to release muscle tension and trigger points. There are some similarities between acupuncture and dry needling. However, there are also some important differences. Acupuncture is a holistic approach to medicine that looks at the whole person, not just the symptoms of the disease. Dry needling is a more targeted approach that focuses on specific muscle groups. I’ve always been interested in acupuncture and wondered how effective it might be. Fascinating, and I love natural remedies and treatments. I can’t help but wonder, why no gloves worn by the practitioner? Maybe it’s not crucial in acupuncture, just curious 🤷🏻‍♀️
@kitsunecookie372
@kitsunecookie372 3 года назад
I wouldn't have thought it necessary as the needles have a "handle" which doesn't perforate or touch the skin. Also I'd imagine that hand hygiene is more of a priority when gloves aren't worn. I'm not an expert, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong
@sergcolin
@sergcolin 3 года назад
gloves aren’t necessary unless there’s gonna be bodily fluid exposure and/or if the client is contagious due to a skin condition. as long as hand hygiene is performed then gloves aren’t needed.

Does anyone else have a collection of fears towards acupuncture? Here are mine: 1. I will fall off of the table or something will fall on me, causing the needles to stab me deeper inside. 2. The acupuncturist will miss a needle at the end of the treatment. I will put on my clothes and be surprised by a sharp stabbing pain. 2. The acupuncturist will slip with the needle in their hand and stab me in the eye. 3. The acupuncturist will have a random episode of madness and stab me in my eye because they don’t like me. These are my genuine fears. Anyone else?

Traditional Chinese acupuncture works. Do your research, though, and get the real deal from a board certified Traditional Chinese Acupuncturist (TCM trained) who has studied for three years or more. There is acupuncture from physios or GP's who have done an adjuct course in a few days, and that's not the real deal. That's just trigger point. There's acupuncture, then there is acupuncture perfored by a real acupuncturist. Very different.

Acupuncture should be covered by insurance. There is a probably a political reason it's not covered. Because if people can be healed with such a simple remedy then what happens to all doctor's jobs and medications that they sell profit from.
