I went searching for some delicious Filipino Street Food at Salcedo Weekend Market in Manila, Philippines. I tried multiple different snacks and drinks but actually found it rather hard to find anything that was typically Filipino.. either way everything was delicious and I would highly recommend that you go there for yourself and try some of the amazing home made street food.

I love it that even in your first day in Manila, you were already speaking some Filipino words and phrases. That speaks a lot about your sincere enthusiasm about a culture. Meanwhile, many vloggers have been in the country for more than 3 years but only know the word “salamat”. But am not judging them tho. It’s absolutely their choice and their right. Have fun and stay safe.

By the way, the juice vendor actually offered you coconut juice. He said “buko.” That’s how we call it there. That white juice on your left was the buko juice.

Really good start as a vlogger! If you can swing it, stick around the Philippines a bit longer. Filipinos are very welcoming to vloggers who are sincerely appreciative of their country. Dumplings are considered Pinoy too because of our very long Chinese heritage. Pinoy food: lumpia, which either be fried or fresh lechon manok(chicken) or baboy(pork), pancit (any kind of noidles), pork or chickrn barbecues on sticks, kare-kare, sour houp like sinigsng(pork, fish or shrimps), and lots of other food...you just have to ask. If you are going to eat Pinoy food, try Manam, Dencio's, Gerry's, Aristocrat, Max's....😅 BTW, Pork LECHON is very, very popular in Cebu.

Welcome to the PH! Excellent vid! your tagalog's really good, great pronunciation! you're doing very well! :) most in Manila mix Tagalog and English, its called Taglish - just pepper your English with those few Tagalog words as you're doing now and you'll be good! If you leave Manila for the Visayas region, be sure to pick up a few words in Bisaya/Visayan, as people there don't speak Tagalog. You can pepper your English with a few Visayan words to make it Bislish, just like you're doing with the Taglish already. Most here mix languages to make it easier for others, noting how multilingual and multicultural it is here. 180+ languages and ethnolinguistic groups sharing the same 7600+ island archipelago. Makes for immense diversity in foods! Inengs is good for traditional ihaw-ihaw (filipino bbq). You'll find Filipino food includes a lot of foods brought in from Fujian in southern China historically = dumplings (siopao, siomai), spring rolls (lumpia), a whole wealth of regional noodle dishes (pancit); some foods are very spicy and a bit like neighboring Malay and Indonesian foods (Bicol Express and Laing from the east of the philippines; Piaparan, Tiyula itum, Rendang, Satti=satay, and Kulma from the southern Philippines); others have influence from Spain, Mexico and the new world (Menudo, Kaldereta, Tamales, Empanadas). Some share influence from Okinawa in southern japan (ginisang ampalaya) and miso. If other Asians make different types of chilli oil, filipino cuisine has many types of infused-vinegars that are used as dips or added to marinades and sauces (some with chilli, some with onion and garlic, some a blend of cane and rice vinegars). Filipino food comes in different flavor profiles: a common tart mixed with slightly sweet or with lots of umami profile - sweet + savory, and coconut milk, lemongrass, shrimp paste and osmetimes chili (ginataan foods). Some places you guys can try for good, hygenic and affordable Filipino foods are Mang Inasal for a traditional fragrant bbq called inasal from the visayas (middle part of the philippines), Gerry's grill and Manam. For a great selection in Metro Manila, you can try Cabel's near Malacañang palace (posh place), Provenciano in Quezon city (good vibes), or Chef Laudico Guevarra's in San Juan (best buffet selection of Filipino cuisines). If you want to try regional delicacies which are a bit hard to get abroad- look for Palm Grill in Quezon City or Dulang in Malate (they both serve trad tausug food from the southern Philippines -some of this country's most aromatic foods). Hope this list helps and enjoy your time here!

When you ask folks how they are, instead of "kumusta ka" which is quite informal, it would be better to say "kumusta po." The word "po" when speaking Tagalog just makes it sound more polite and respectful. :)

It's a city that's highly cultural and the temperature is a lot better compared to manila (drops to 8C and averaging 18-23C). It's just a 4-5 hr bus ride away and the entry point to the cordillera mountain ranges (try to lookup sagada and banaue). Given that Salcedo (pronounced "sal seh do" weekend market in Jaime Velasquez ("high meh ve las kezz") Park offers diverse cuisines around the world, it might be a good idea to have flags country or region names as you talk so visitors know where it's from

you need a local guide for the good food places to go coz youvat find much of street food stalls in the philippines coz we prefer a resto setup due to hot weather..also government has rules for vendors setting up n the streets unlike other south east asian countries. find a reliable filipino food vlogger to collab for food hunting..
