Ever wondered if you could use easily generated AI images on Etsy to make money?
I did too so I decided to try it out.
I wanted to see if this was the next greatest side hustle or way to make money.
Making money on etsy has always been hard for me but this seemed like the easiest way to do it with my limited skillset.
I tried a lot of different thing and images but ended up selling AI art in the christian niche.
This video goes over my results. How much money I made, and whether I feel like this is a good side hustle or not.

Selling ai work on Etsy is making it impossible for actual full time artists to get any sales. Please learn how to draw if you want to make things like this, trust me, art is so much more fun than the final product and you’ll have a way better time learning than typing in a prompt to get something mediocre.

Is it completely legal to create images using AI and then sell and take profit from them? I repeat, COMPLETELY legal? And if it is, are there any requirements? For example crediting(mentioning) the site that created it somewhere in the product info, or maybe just plainly stating that it was created using AI?

Paid account from Midjourney for instance affords you commercial license which is completely different from copyright. If an AI output image is changed in some transformative way by the artist or "artist" (other than just doing a few minor tweaks in photoshop or upscaling) then it is possible it has copyright protection. But yes you absolutely can legally sell output from Midjourney (don't know about other platforms) from a paid plan, but if you don't change it in a transformative way then someone can legally purchase a digital download for instance and print it and sell it legally because you wouldn't have a certain copyright. Most shops offering digital downloads on Etsy for instance - some obviously just straight AI output - will say that the images downloaded can only be for personal use, non-transferrable, not for selling, etc but none of that is enforceable without actual copyright protection, although most customers will heed the request.

You should use Google to answer your question like I did, and the answer is No, Etsy isn't banning AI. Even the Stock Photography sites are accepting AI these days.

@@Buildapreneur Isn't that worth mentioning? I believe Etsy does have a policy that requires some transformative manipulation of an AI image, rather than just straight output (upscaling, contrast, adjusting levels and other such basic edits not considered transformative).
