Hi Tony are you familiar with the lace up Thai style gloves by Shogun with an unattached thumb? They cost 12.95 on ebay and seem to be pretty well made with genuine leather, I would love to hear your review of those. Maybe they are terrible too )
I've recently started boxing. it's something I wanna do professionally. Love the videos, they help so much with getting an idea on how to train at home and in your spare time. Thanks for supplying us with such great videos. Thank god I could afford Everlast gloves 💀
@@fabianruiz5108 I just don't have a whole lot of money. They're pretty good for the time being. I've been looking at ringside and grant whenever I can.
@@tofu6284 They're more than alright for now mate. It wouldn't be RU-vid if some melt didn't try and get you down. I'm sure the only time Tim nice but dim has sampled a Boxing glove is when it's connecting with his jaw.
@Tony Jeffries I have been using these same gloves as in the video for a few months, because i thought i could save some dollars, but you convinced me that if i'll have the money i will have to buy some better gloves. You helped a lot in my boxing progress. Thank you Tony, i am really grateful!
Don't get mad at Tony in the comments, The haggling was very common in Asian countries especially in the Phillipines. Tony was even better than my dad in haggling which was crazy. Usually they will charge the foreigners higher because in most eastern countries the money value is lower, so they expect western people to be wealthier because pounds is a lot higher in value. Thailand is pretty poor as an country so they have many knock offs and cheap things, that doesn't mean its bad. Haggling is common in Asia and Tony's skills were really good. I bought really cheap gloves for about 100 in thai currency the quality was decent and it was more suited for muay thais loose arms, and thai people usually have smaller hands and are usually smaller. And boxing was made in europe were the europeans were much bigger than the thais
Hey Tony, I recently just started boxing and have a match coming up in may, your videos have really helped me and I just wanted to say I appreciate them.
I bought a pair of bag gloves that looked very similar to those gloves in downtown LA in the early 2000s. There used to be a couple of shops in the Toy District that sold sports equipment. I used to go down there and buy jump ropes ($5), gloves($10), and even bought a heavy bag for $40. Good memories. Sadly those shops are long gone. I think I still have those gloves
I have average Joe hands (medium) and I tried some 16 oz gloves (with wraps) and I felt play inside. 14's fit better no play inside but it varies case by case
Yeah naaah, they looked cheap the moment I saw them on the shelf 🤣 A fiver is cheap enough but compared to the potential cost of physio for a tweaked wrist it's a no for me lol. A friend of mine picked me up a pair of "Twins" gloves from Thailand which were really excellent quality. I still use them to this day.
What are your thoughts on those bag mitts that people like muhammad ali used to use and some boxers still use. They are very thin padded gloves for heavy bag, and the point is not to hit as hard as you can but to work the correct form and technique.
Why the hell are y'all getting mad at him for bargaining???? These people try to scam when they see a foreigner and if it really was 500 he wouldn't have said 400
The gloves would be perfect for the double end bag. They would save you wear and tear on the more expensive gloves. ✝️👍🥊 Coach Mando from the Alamo City.
my first boxing glove was one very similar to this one. Well, in my fifth sparring match I broke the metacarpal bone of my index finger hitting my sparring partner in the forehead. It's not worth saving a few bucks buying cheap stuff thinking it will have the same quality and productivity as reliable stuff. They are definitely expensive for a reason. The risk of having to stay away for some time due to injury and other headaches is not worth it.
When people watch these sort of reviews and find themselves cringing and mocking the gloves, remember this - there are young poor kids, maybe not even little kids but like 13-14 year olds just starting out, and they can only afford something like this or these are ones for the use of kids who don't even have their own gloves, and yet sometimes, even often, some decent fighters develop while starting with "garbage" gloves just like these or ones quite similar. When you don't know the feel of good gloves or even halfway decent gloves, even these seem like they are fine. It's all about attitude really, and sometimes lack of good equipment can even make a person better, and tougher and then when they do get better stuff, they have already been through the struggle of using the bad, sometimes not even knowing what they had was "bad" - Often it's the well-off kids whose mom or dad shelled out 100+ dollars for their first gloves that fail to stick it out long enough to even need (or deserve) good gloves - hope all that makes sense.
Tony I have a request- I started boxing a few months ago I still haven't been able to find any good coach in my country I've been watching you since the very start and I want you to review my heavy bag work and shadow boxing in Private, if you could tell me what mistakes I'm making and how I could improve I'll appreciate it.
There was a time, over thirty years ago, that they sold high quality Boxing and Thai-Boxing equipment here for peanuts, before they completely sold out here and back when it was all about winning fights.
Tony what do you think of the X factor gloves from onx? Designed by Trevor wittman! Opposite of cheap but looking for the best of the best bag gloves to handle daily abuse
What boxing gloves do you suggest? I've done boxing for a few years but I always replace my gloves every 3-4months cause I'm a power puncher and gloves cant keep up
There are nooo videos showing how to use the Stryk. Maybe you could be the first to show us how to train with it? I know you made a couple of videos showing it off but it'd be nice to see an in depth explination on how to get the most out of it! Thanks Tony, you're the best!
Man, boxers really need to learn to condition their hands. I learned to hit a heavy bag wrapless when I was a kid in isshin ryu karate and It made my hands solid as f. I never get any hand pain or anything. Because I condition my hands properly. If you're a boxer I would highly recommend getting a makiwara and hit the bag every day glove less.
could you do a video on glove variation ? like you said the angle from cleto reyes that makes you hit with the fingers and what the diffrent shapes etc do ?
I think part of the issues are because they're Muay Thai gloves that need to be adapted so clinching is possible, however 95% is crappy design and material
Why haggle for cheaper when 1.. they are still the same price for anyone else whether you haggle or not and it disqualifies the “cheapest gloves” and 2.. that shop owner probably needed the money a lot more than you and he is extremely nice or in need of some money. I still respect you but jeez man that touched me.
My hands would never recover from a heavy bag session with those gloves. I felt an electric jolt through my wrists every time you hit that bag. Yeah. No thanks.
I have a hard time not just paying full price for items in other countries like that when its barley anything to me but could make a big difference to them.
