Just to clear things up, the point of this video was for me to show that everyone, even natural hair gurus go through this process. A way for people to relate. I was in no way insinuating that undefined hair/afros aren't beautiful or good enough. I've been natural for 7 years now and wear my afro from time to time. I love my hair with or without curls. I was only upset about the amount of time spent on my hair, I could've achieved the afro look under 15 min. I just thought I'd be raw with you guys instead of making everything look perfect.💕

Yes Yes Yes ReyRey!!! Thank you SO MUCH for this video right here. I TOTALLY feel your frustration. My hair is Type 4, hella thick, just past collarbone length. There's been times when I thought my hair was about to POP after I took it down and it FLOPPED instead. Total disappointment! I've thought about cutting it all off and rocking the Angela Bassett look but I just can't get the courage to let my hair go. I love my natural texture but some days when I don't want the afro look but end up with it anyways...😡😣😫🤦 Smh. Much love to you ReyRey!

Beautifullllll even with a fail😩 Make sure you use the drawstring on the blow-dryer cap to tighten it around the perimeter of your head so the warm air doesn't escape and it dries faster

Everytime a hairstyle fails, I do a sleek low bun, or a high puff, or I put a scarf over it and lay my edges, but if you really wanna wear your hair down, put a fast drying hair product on it and then do a braid out, let it dry (which it will) and then bam ! You are ready to go.

The method used wasn’t that good. Using smaller sections and smaller rods would’ve help with drying it quicker. Also mousse needed to be used and the hair has to be smoothed down for it to lay in the properly pattern.

I was the same way with the Bantu nots, I tried it for the first time like 3 weeks ago and I let it hair dry over night and they weren’t tight at all but my hair was hurting the next day and I struggled to sleep the night before 😩I left in as a style for that entire day and took them out at night to see the results, it was curly but It had no volume whatsoever, I tried fluffing it but nothing worked, then I realized my issue was doing it on wet hair instead of dry 🤦🏽‍♀️ so next time I’ma try doing it on dry hair and i’ma stretch my hair using the cool setting on my blow dryer 🤗 excited to see wat my results will be like

Hey beautiful. So I absolutely love flexi rods. I am Type 4A hair as well. I typically start with dry, blown out hair. I use smaller sections and a generous amount of mousse. I only put creme on my ends to secure the wrap on my rod. I twist my hair around the flexi rod itself rather than twisting my hair then twisting it around the rod. I also sleep in my flexi rods, with a bonnet over top of them. Sleeping is a little hard, but i end up sleeping on the side of my face. I remove them in the morning with Castor Oil and the curls come out cute. Maybe try that? And if so, be sure to tell me how it goes. Just a reminder that you’re still gorgeous!

Same thing happened to me before work a couple of months ago. Did not have time to care. I don’t understand why🤷🏾‍♀️. Been happening every time so I am keeping my hair either twisted or braided. To make it worse my hair dried as soon as I left the house after 24hrs. I did my hair Sunday morning so it should have dried by Monday morning. Only since this year began 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

I know this is 2 years old, but the Curl Maxx is what prevents your hair from holding a curl and from getting dry. All that glycerine traps moisture in, because that's what it's supposed to do, it's a humectant.

I get your frustration with this (some people didn't get it), you lost a BUNCH of time just to get an afro in the end ( beautiful by the way). I only need 10 minutes to get the afro popping, not hours! And when I'm feeling like having a twist out type of day, or a bantu knots type of day and it doesn't work it's time lost.

Try them all (the styles) on dry stretched hair and next time don't twist the hair before rolling out bantu-ing it I know the struggle sis!

When you had the flexi rods and Bantu knots I would have got my hair dryer and blow it out that way then your hair would have been dry next time try a styling mousse and small section ps don’t get discouraged keep practicing you got this beautiful

DisisReyRey yesss girl I totally understand one day when you do it again you can leave the flexi rods In over night when I do my flexi rods I try to do them in the morning so they can sit dry all day and at night if they are dry at night I take them out of the flexi rods and put my bonnet on

Bantu knots dont work for me either. And neither does flexi rods. And I have type 3C hair. Two strand twist out on stretched hair works like a bomb though.

Styling on wet hair for my type 4 hair I need almost 2 days my hair is too dense lol especially Bantu knots it might take 3 days unless hair is stretched or done on old hair

I think air dry always gives the best result . When we want fast solutions I don’t think styles like this are the best . An over night dry is more realistic for the flexis . . . Your hair is beautiful and the thicker our texture the more work 😩you should’ve made the Bantu knots just a LITTLE damp and smaller sections . You’re balling your hair up so it’s harder to dry the inside of the knot .

If you’ve never used these methods before it takes some practicing. The first time I tried with Bantu knots, perm rods and flexi rods, it came out horrible the first few tries. It takes practice!!

You're still cute, girl. But I know from my own experience that bantu knots take dayzzz to dry. My sister wears her knots out as her style and then when they dry she takes them down. But she does them so neat that they look good enough to wear out.

Peace, I just wanted to come on your channel and thank you for your videos. I’m a new subscriber and after watching your videos I saw that you always introduce the curlmax activator. So I went to several stores and finally found it at one of the Walmart stores. I bought two cause I had a hard time finding it. Anyway after using this product and eco gel for the last three weeks, my hair has been thriving🥰. Thank you thank you thank you. it would have look beautiful with the flexi rod but you didn't use enough flexi rods. I have the same hair type as yours, flexi and bantu knots work so well to define curls but you didn have enough and the hair definitly need to be dry before removing the flex or the bantu. it was a great video though, thank you for sharing, you have another subscriber!

When doing flexy rods they are just like rollers. So you need to stay under the dryer for an hour to an hour in a half. And if it’s not dry by then you just need to stay under the dryer. And try doing smaller sections next time.

there's nothing wrong with having undefined, frizzy, or afro hair. it's okay to be upset about not achieving a certain style but we shouldn't imply that undefined hair isn't professional, beautiful, or good enough.

Stop reaching. I never said undefined hair isnt beautiful, I wear my afro from time to time and love my hair whether it’s with or without curls. Fyi, I’ve been natural for 7 years now. The whole point of this video was for me to show that everyone, even natural hair gurus go through this process, a way for people to relate. I was upset about not achieving the specific style I wanted, nothing else.

I thought your hair looked great. it's the micro things that make people think they have to look a certain way and I just want to see more people embracing the way their hair naturally curls. But I also understand wanting a looser curl or a more defined curl because it doesn't lead to as many tangles.

DisisReyRey I totally understood what you meant hun. The fact that you are natural means that you love your hair and we love you for that. For the most part the majority understands where you are coming from. At times we have a certain look that we want for an occasion or for what we want to wear or even just our mood and when that look isn’t achieved we get frustrated. Completely understand. For the most part anyone who has intellect to understand the natural hair struggles will find this video relatable and extremely real. For all others we will leave them to themselves to dwell on their own perceptions. So keep these vids coming we love that you keep it real, it shows that you are human too just as we all are. Some people tend to forget that at times. Natural hair is a mood by itself dwl!!! 🤣

Even though it's your prerogative, I would say someone not happy with their hair would get a texturizer or a relaxer. People be too invested in other people's hair. It's annoying.
