I think it's better than the Anthropology piece. The colours are fine, the hardware is a very good choice, it adds a delicate note to the massive piece. I think that the stripes also break in a fine way the heaviness of the original block. I would let it like it is. It will find its lover. Great job Katie! Sometimes i can hardly believe what beauty you conjure out of old, ugly, unloved things.

It looks a lot better than I expected it would: not because I doubt your talent and ability to transform things, but because it was such a lumbersome, cumbersome lump of a piece to begin with! I definitely agree with you that it would look less monolithic if it were raised up on some legs. I think it's nice, but I'm looking forward to seeing what you do if you do decide to come back to it at a future date. Great work, though! You took a plane boring bulky piece of furniture and transformed it into a happy interesting show piece that has the possibility to make a room pop. I think the new legs is a great idea and will take the piece to a whole new level. I love your willingness to stay out of your comfort zone and try new things. I like how the stripes are a bit thicker than the inspo piece, with the colors not having a sharp contrast the chunkier lines help them stand out better.

This is a really interesting look. You did a great job duping the Anthro piece. I would call it a buffet. It’s the kind of thing that would be in a dining room in the late ‘80s/ early ‘90s. We hadn’t gotten rid of dining rooms yet but we didn’t like the formality of china cabinets. I love the way you created that background look with a foam roller. I love stripes, too so I’m all about this. Updating it further with gold legs sounds like a win.🌸

I’m always amazed by the amount of work you put on these pieces!!!! I think that the direction of the stripes on the top makes a big difference on how the original piece looks nicer (to me). You could also just remove the front bottom piece to make it look elevated above the floor…

I agree that it needs legs. I really like the paint. I would have mounted the handles on the doors horizontally to match the drawers. It makes it less busy. I actually like a horizontal door handle regardless of any companion drawers. Don't give up on it. You're 90% there.

I think this is breathtaking and a very good dupe. Don’t think legs are the answer. Maybe other hardware. But I think it’s inspired. After looking at the inspiration piece, I think you are right. Legs would really add to this piece. I have watched this video 3 times now and am realizing just how much taping was involved in this. RESPECT.

I like it. I agree it would look great with some metallic legs. Trick to painting strips…after you tape, you need to paint with the base color first then pith the contrast color. That way you don’t have bleed through of the contrast color on the base coat. You could also add a “tea stain” glazing effect on top of everything after its complete with the two colors mixed together (or watered down gold or silver) but watered down before you seal it. That way it blends well. Maybe that’s not what you wanted though, since you said it looked muddy. I like that washed out effect.

It's gorgeous! Don't completely re-do it. My suggestion for a slight change would be to remove about 3/4 of the bottom front panel, leaving only a strip under the lower cabinets. Then paint or gold leaf the bottom of the L & R sides - mimicking the base of the Anthropology piece.
