I believe Olaplex is used to either prevent damage when bleaching or if used as a separate treatmeant it'll do its best to restore your hair follicle to the way it would be in its virgin state. So if your virgin hair is naturally like that, then Olaplex won't really smooth it out because it's not a topical, silicone solution.
It’s basically meant to be a bond builder to repair damage to your hair whether bleach, tension damage, etc. but yeah it’s not gonna make your air dry smoothly or anything, it’s just meant to repair damage to the hair and make it feel more moisturized, smooth and shiny
Their website says you can use olaplex on virgin hair. There are other factors that come into damage such as heat styling and weather conditions, and olaplex can help keep the bond in tact to prevent any unnecessary splitting.
Great video! So the Olaplex Number 3 is a treatment that helps to re link the broken bonds in our hair that break due to coloring, heat styling, and mechanical styling (brushing), Olaplex themselves state that Number 3 is not a traditional conditioning treatment, that you would use after shampooing your hair which may be why you may not be seeing the results you’re looking for. I think you would really like Olaplex Number 6, which is a bond smoothing leave in conditioner! You can leave it in your hair to air dry or blow dry with it. If you mix it with a little of the Number 7 Oil from Olaplex, it works as a heat protectant as well against blow drying, and really helps to smooth out the cuticle of the hair from frizz. It can be quite heavy so a little of it goes a long way, but I think you would really like it, and see more noticeable results!
The highest percentage of the active compound bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate outside of the salon only Olaplex 1 and 2 is in 0. 6 and 7 will help a little and keep the hair smoother but 0 and 3 together actually reform the hair bonds.
That makes sense as to why it didnt work for me, cause I dye my hair with henna and henna fills in those damaged gaps in my hair. It worked for my mum though, who is in her 50s and she has started to get very dry and thick hair cuz of the hormonal changes as comes with ageing.
Olaplex is a line that works over time. It strengthens your hair so that the things that usually damage it won't affect it as much. But you don't see results right away or until your do drastic damage like bleaching your hair
@@tatiana1994cr her hair isn’t dry... dry hair is how much water is in your hair. Humidity controls that. Her hair is not exactly damaged but i think the keratin treatment played a role. Plus olaplex cannot fix damaged hair. The only thing that fixes split ends is scissors.
@@dela2612 The curly community knows better than two black female dermatologists which are experts on hair whose book confirmed the infromation in the video you're on about? How humble.
Try using olaplex 0 and 3 together works amazing And multiple times a week! One treatment isn’t going to do anything and most people use the oil and number 6 to get the maximum results.
I found something called “hair gloss” which it’s basically hair dye without pigment, it makes your hair shiny, but it may not work on your hair the same because of texture. It may be worth a try, though!!
The best results I had with olaplex was leaving it in for most of the day. My hair was bleached and it worked a treat repairing that damage a bond builder. Because it's not a conditioning treatment I don't think it will do much else other than help with damage x
Nope not always. I have the exact same hair with isabella and even though when i do the cgm it is better and a lot curlier, its still frizzy when air dryed!
For me, Olaplex No 3 shows the best results when I wear it curly afterwards. It’s soo bouncy and more spirally, even better than with a protein treatment 😊
Olaplex 0&3 overnight once a week has saved my hair! I've been using it since May and my hair is so much healthier! Saved my bleached hair! Slowly growing it now
To be honest when my hair was always drying frizzy, I used to just apply a hair styler and braid my hair and I always slept in braids. You’ll have beautiful wavy hair by the end of it but it might not be your ideal hair look.
@@IsabellaDemarko if you're aiming for heatless straight hair, you can just put a kardoune on (Idk if it's available in the US but you never know lol). It's a ribbon we use here in Algeria, you wrap it aaaaaall around your strands to protect them from friction.
Oh my god finally yes! My hair texture is wavy and I struggle with frizz just like you and finding the right products so I religiously follow your hair routine so much
Well if u just brush and air dry your hair its gonna air dry frizzy because your hair doesn’t wanna be straight. That’s not the olaplex not doing its job its just the hair type so thats a little misinformative but otherwise your hair looks super healthy and I love your videos!
@@cutekitten4668 no you’re taking my words out of context she dried her hair wrong for her texture and olaplex isn’t gonna change that so im saying its unfair to judge a product on that specific front.
I've been using olaplex for a while now and I definitely started see really great results after the 2nd or 3rd use so I'd recommend continuing to use it and see how you go
@@metoo7593 I initially used it twice a week for around 3 weeks then I went down to once a week for several months. Now my hair is pretty healthy I use it once a fortnight or when I remember
As a hairdresser I can say that this product is made to rebuild the hair rather than smooth hair that is just naturally not particularly smooth. Some people may see smoothing effects from olaplex no3 if their frizz is caused by damage though x
I feel like one of the other olaplaex products would likely have been more suited for you needs. I have sort of similar hair to you and number 6 made the most difference for me. Also to spite the small bottle it last so long. Though I 100% get that stuff is different for everyone and olaplaex is a bit expensive for something that might not work.
I’ve been using Olaplex n 3 followed by Olaplex n 6 and I can tell you that of course you can’t see immediate results, but after one year using it...omg I can’t even explain Newborn hair!
Frizzy girl here! Just wanted to share some things I've learned/realized lately about my hair. I've learned a lot actually from watch sarah ingle's videos since she has read this whole textbook on hair chemistry and it's fascinating! i've realized my hair hates moisture and that's why it's frizzy. I've tried the curly girl method of using liquid conditioner then oil and i just never got the results i wanted. i did however mix up once and put the oil first and then water and conditioner after and it gave me much better results. that was my first clue. for frizzy hair, you need protectants. u did a whole video on silicones and it was great! you mentioned oiling and i wonder why that's not in your routine more it seems like? choosing the right type of oil for your hair is important though. i realized i need to put oil on my dry hair everyday in order to protect it from the elements. that's why the top layer of my hair is frizzier than the underneath layer. but the key is to get the balance of oil right because using too much will lead you to using too much shampoo. and that's the other thing. unless shampoo has a really low ph (3.5 for curly-5 for straight) it's bad!! i can shampoo only once a week, and i have to immediately deep condition my hair after for at least 10 min. sometimes I even have to put oil on my hair first or a pre-poo to protect it but it's hard to go down the no poo road idk if i would recommend that. i also like acv rinses bc it helps the ph of your hair and close the shafts. and green tea rinses or rice water rinses. but after deep conditioning I put oil on and finding the right amount to use here is very key bc u just took a shower and u don't want to slip and get it greasy looking again. so go easy start little by little and as it dries see if u need a little more. when it's almost dry i'll wrap all my hair around my head to make it a little straighter, more wavy for me bc my hair is 2c. and that's it. I need to sleep with protective styles more, get a microfiber towel and a better silk pillowcase though. my hair hasn't recovered from when i stopped oiling during quarantine bc i didn't have to see anyone i rly let myself go :/
also if anyone is looking for a rly good hair oil i suggest this one i found on etsy it's kind of pricey bc i like organic products. www.etsy.com/listing/241740703/organic-happy-hair-oil-raw-vegan-leave?ref=hp_rf-2&frs=1 and there's another one i haven't tried but want to with "vegetable silicone" they call it but it's just a blend of specific oils. www.etsy.com/listing/228637789/sleek-shine-anti-frizz-hair-oil-12-spf?ref=hp_rf-3
also forgot to mention that after washing and deep conditioning, I really try to get as much water out of my hair with a microfiber towel and then put oil on. basically water-based moisture is really not ideal for my hair. Mostly when people say their hair needs moisture what they really mean is conditioning. conditioning is what makes your hair look and feel soft and healthy. even though water has a balanced ph, it's still too high for hair. oil doesn't affect the ph of hair and it's what helps to condition it. my skin scalp and hair are all combination oily and dry. it's been really tricky to figure out how to balance it, especially my scalp bc i still haven't figured out dandruff (if anyone has any tips! besides the basic stuff i probably tried it all) i think oil is really key though in terms of oil balancing. sounds simple enough. having a hybrid hair type can be really fun and look beautiful once you get the hang of your routine I am learning to embrace it more. My hair can be straighter or curlier depending on how I do it, without using any heat ever. If I wear my hair wrapped around my head when it's a little damp while i sleep it's much straighter. when I wear it up in a bun to sleep it makes my 2c curls looser and look more wavy and also volumized! but the downside is if I wear it in a hairstyle it can keep that shape for a while and look weird lol. but overall it's great, we've just never learned to properly care for it bc of all the misleading information out there from the hair industry and people with different hair types than us. people need to start talking about hybrid hair more! idk if it's really the right term, or what is, but it's not the same as curly or straight hair care.
When I was little, I had always had straight hair. When I had a dramatic cut, it turned curly. I would honestly recommend to cut it all off and start over again. Sorry, this may not be what you want. I also recommend not using as many products. The girls you see on social media with straighter hair either have genetically silky hair, or they straighten it.
Olaplex definitely is good for your hair since you like heat styling it :) It'll help protect your hair and strengthen the bonds from the damage heat styling does.
I have similar hair to you and I started to notice more of a difference using it regularly. Its also not a conditioner, your hair wont feel softer, it just helps keep it stronger :)
When I had bleach and heat damage, olaplex no.3 restored my hair and only a few months!!! Now I have all my curls back and it’s CRAZYYYY, i never thought I would have curly hair like this
I use No 3 usually the day before a wash as almost a hair mask but just to help slick my hair back (ballet bun / pony / plait) as it’s great for creating these hair styles and getting all the baby hairs under control without using hairspray or gel etc x
i don't have super damaged hair, mostly just frizzy - but olaplex works WONDERS on my hair. i know a lot of people saying it's only good for damaged hair, but i find it works really well for me with just generally frizzy hair!
Do you also use no 0 with no 3? I am asking because a lot of people have commented that they saw better results when they started using them together 💛
My hair will also air dry really frizzy but then will calm down a few hours later! Like maybe some oil comes back or something? Mine also holds a curl really well so i will just keep twisting it until dry and it forms curls that look like they were done from a curling iron!
Same but I keep mine braided. Like if it airdries after I wash it, yeah it's frizzy. But give it a few hours and it's looking very nice. That's why I mostly wash it at night, so it takes its time being frizzy when I sleep and then be very nice the next day.
What you describe here means you girls have wavy hair. You can get beautifully defined waves with minimum frizz if you follow wavy girl method (not curly)
I bleached my hair a few days ago and used olaplex Nr. 3 over last night, looks quite good so far and I haven’t noticed any damage from bleaching it yet... will continue with the treatment and hope for the best 🤞🏽
Thank you for your work on this channel. Your channel is helping me a lot to accept myself and my hair. I have wavy hair and the same hair problems as you. Your hair really looks just like mine, it's crazy because I never saw a person with the same hair problems as me. My hair doesn't look good whatever I do with them. The only way to go outside without feeling of shame was to pin up my hair tightly or to straighten them. Those weren't good solutions because I was demaging my hair. I tried Curly Girl Method for more than a year and didn't see any results. Thanks to you I started accepting that my hair will be never just like hair of other girls but it's not a bad thing. I stopped CG method and I'm trying to stop worring about my hair. It really helps with my menthal health. Thanks you, you really helped me a lot
ISABELLA I FOUND SOMETHING!!!!! So, from the looks of your haircut, you have a blunt cut that goes straight across. Believe it or not, the way you get your haircut can lead to more frizz. A layered v shaped haircut (with a face frame) might be better for your hair type. Anyone who knows more about haircuts for hair types PLEASE COMMENT!
You have to get the olaplex no 4,5,6 as well.. The shampoo (no.4) lasts forever and its a holy grail. You only need the tiniest amount and it goes a long way. The conditioner (no.5) runs out quicker, but the leave in treatment (no.6) also lasts very long and it's amazing.
If shine is what your looking for the gisou serum is bombb it doesn’t make your hair greasy and leaves it shiny after your blow dry also lasts a long time
Girl i was born with silky soft hair, but for the past few years has been frizzy and dry my mom got me Tragacanth in the form of a gel and i swear it fixed it like magic ! please try it
I wash my my hair with a biotin and collagen hair shampoo twice before conditioning it with a keratin hair conditioner, and I let it air dry, meanwhile, I brush my hair with a wide tooth comb to make it not tangley, once it dries, I tie it up into a low ponytail, then put a cap on it and leave it either overnight or leave it on for a few hours to tame it. I hope this helps. 🙂
I have been using Olaplex 3 for a year, the thing is that my hair feels soft and amazing the very first day that I wash my hair, but the next days my hair is still a mess all over again, in my case it didn't repair my damaged bleached hair at all
my experience with olaplex is that it works best when you use it consistently. I use it every other week. As it is a protein hair mask, you need to identify if you even need added protein to your hair, if you don't I don't think it'll give much of a result. But yeah, maybe try to use it a few more times.
My hair dries exactly the same as yours I use L’Oréal elvive no haircut cream on my hair after I wash (with shampoo and conditions ) when it’s still wet and then brush through maybe that could help it makes a lot of a difference to mine
Thanks Isabella! I have exactly the same hair as you (sadly not the same colour though!) and have been trying all sorts of things including the Curly Girl Method. I’ve seen Olaplex mentioned over and over in the Long Hair Community Facebook group so I’ve been thinking of giving it a try. I’m not sure I will now, although a friend swears by No. 6!
Does it also have bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate? if not it's just an expensive conditioner, not a bond restructuring product. A good conditioner I'm sure as he's a trichologist but a conditioner nonetheless.
@@milly6858 Fair enough. You know 3 is designed to be used with 0? 3 alone won't do much as it's 0 that has the most active ingredient (outside of number 1 salon product). I used 3 first and it did nothing but then with 0 was the game changer. :)
You NEED to try the Elvital Wonder Water! I tried it yesterday, and my hair is literally transformed, I was so positively surprised! It made my hair so, so smooth, soft and shiny! 🌟
Hey :) i noticed when you were washing your hair you used shampoo on the whole hair im not sure if you did that only because of product build up or if you do this continuously but i would highly highly highly suggest only placing shampoo on the roots of your hair and conditioner on only the ends when you wash it this could help! I stopped putting shampoo in my ends YEARS ago and it made an extremely big difference in moisture
You should try the overnight method I would get in the shower just wet my hair and put the olaplex overnight and then wash it in the morning. I wouldn’t say you need to wash it before but I never tried it that way. Also try it maybe once a week for a couple of months and see how you like it honestly the best thing ever created!
I use all olaplex line 0-7 , olaplex 0 and 3 once a week , 4 and 5 two or three times a week , number 6 and 7 daily and number 1-2 once a month and my hair is in amazing condition. I think you need to use full range to get a maximum results.
It’s very expensive but I would try the Bb. Air dry products. They work great for my Mum (her hair is similar to yours, maybe a bit shorter) might work for you!
Olaplex 3 Is a leave in,I thought . I put it in when my hair's wet ,brush through and blow dry it and I like it ! I then put a dab in my hands and rub them together and put it threw my dry hair and it takes the frizz away ,so I'm all for it,on my hair , anyways!
Hi Isabella, I understand your hair journey and partly experiencing it on my own.. you can try with Garnier food masks (aloe vera is hidratating) and schwarzkopf bc keratin smooth.. those two helped me very much and the prices are very good because they last very long..
I think if your hair is kind of like how mine used to be - in that its not necessarily wavy, but gets kind of dry/frizzy looking. One thing that I found helped me is switching to shampoo bars, and doing a conditioner only wash once a week (and making sure I really saturated the lengths of my hair, and gave it time to soak in).
This isn't a deep conditioner , it's a bonding treatment.. I sleep with this in then shampoo twice and deep condition the I use the olaplex leave in and the oil... try the curlsmith purple line it's a bonding line
@@taylor11111 coming from someone with curly hair, this is not an obsession this is reality. maybe you don't put this much time & effort in ur hair but theres a bunch of curly & coily folks that do.
@@taylor11111 Honestly after so much experimenting I think it's either her diet or hard water that's causing frizz. Easier to check them out first as possible causes before spending lots of money, time and effort on various products.
I did not like it but my daughter loves it. She uses it before shampoo and deep conditioner. I prefer Shea moisture coconut rehydration mask mixed with green beauty real protein treatment. My hair loves this. If it feels too strong afterwards then l use the mask alone to moisturize. The shampoo is also amazing. I also use a little of the melanin leave in conditioner to soften and control frizz. Sometimes I use it as a rinse out conditioner. Hope this helps.
I find with Olaplex, the immediate results aren't that noticeable, but I've noticed pretty massive changes with regular use once a week over a 6 month period. My hair air dries like yours, and Olaplex doesn't do much for that, but I do notice my ends feel a lot healthier and my hair feels fuller, and it seems to grow faster! That last bit is probably because the Olaplex helps prevent and repair breakage though. I use the Olaplex No 3 with the Olaplex shampoo and conditioner. I don't know if those make a huge difference, but I got them as a gift and I figure I might as well be consistent with the full package.
it's not meant to be cosmetic, it's for health and strength of the hair, not the shiny or silky. It should be used if you have heat damage or constantly use heat, chemical, coloring or constant brushing/ tight hair do's so on. Just on it's own is not really going to make your hair look nice it needs to be styled but it helps your hair by preventing damage until you do another treatment in a few weeks/ a monthish
Best results will be achieved as you continue to use it since the results are cumulative. Also, you will see the biggest difference if your hair was previously damaged from heat styling or colouring, not if you have healthy hair. Give it a chance, Olaplex is REVOLUTIONARY!!! Top-notch product for damaged and fragile hair!
have you tried not washing your hair for 3 months? only rinsing with water every two weeks? it reset my hair completely, allowed my scalps oils to rebalance etc. ive got smooth shiny hair now after years of heat and colour damage and am back to washing it normally every 3 days now. lockdown is the perfect time to try it!
It is super amazing to see someone with the exact same hair as me! (LOVE your hair btw!) ive learned that I love the volume my hair gives me and I’ve had fun experimenting with products that work for me too 😌
Girl I hope you are going to read this! I do know someone with the same hair an guess what? You cannot do sth against it. I think you could be inbetween light and medium)
hey im a uk based hairstylist please try the olaplex no6 it is a bond smoother it is amazing for frizzy hair and leaves the hair looking so shiney and healthy i use the whole olaplex range and it is honestly a game changer try using the number 0,3,4,5,6 and 7 for maximum results no 0 is the intese treatment 3 is the treatment you used which can be put over the no 0 for a more intense treatment 4 is a shampoo 5 is a conditioner 6 is the bond smoother and 7 is the oil it is an investment but keep using it and you wont look back xx
Just wanted to say that... if a product says to leave it for 10 minites, it probably means that you will get the best results in 10 minutes. Btw I LOVE your natural hair colour 💕💕
maybe but for me personally I've left it on usually for a hour and didn't feel like it did much so the last time I used it I left it for like 4 hours and my hair was like silk afterwards. Was much more effective for me leaving it longer. My salon that sold it to me also suggested leaving it longer.
Thank you thank you and a thousand thanks to you because you are super honest and explains everything very well without adding out of topic talking and talking and more annoying blah blah. You are great! You are also not imitating the kardashian accent but being genuine and that’s what makes you better than the rest.
Olaplex repairs from the inside of the hair strand out, it’s NOT a conditioning or straightening or smoothing treatment. It’s a reparative treatment. You’re meant to wash it out with shampoo and conditioner afterwards and after about a month of consistent uses you’ll see real results, making your hair stronger. This isn’t going to smooth your hair, it only corrects damage. If that’s your hair naturally without damage, Olaplex isn’t going to do much of anything for you.
When I was younger I always wanted hair that air-dried like yours. It reminded me of my godmother, she was always so sweet and kind and her frizzy hair just added to her warm character. I know it’s not what you enjoy and you wish you had something smoother. I feel like we can all get a bit down about our hair so I wanted to let you know that I still think it’s beautiful
omg this is so sweet. I've learned that everybody has at least one insecurity (even those who are considered the most beautiful in the world). Someone's insecurity could be another's desire. I have wavy frizzy hair, and my mom has straight hair. She hates that her hair has no volume, and I hate that my hair is unruly. If we could, we would trade hair.
@@gracemannion5315 I always that people who said that there’s someone for everyone and that the grass is always greener on the other side was codswallop. But, as I got older, I abandoned that cynicism and self-hatred. I think we are given things to appreciate and love them, but we tend to tear them apart. I love that phrase, “Someone’s insecurity could be another’s desire.” That just perfectly expresses what I feel about this. I also have unruly hair and my mom has soft, wavy hair and I was jealous as well! But I’m working with it now, like we’re given a life to live it, I was given this unruly head of hair to make the most of it. Hair is almost like an angel’s halo I think. Everyone is insecure sometimes and that’s alright, it’s only human nature. We just have to learn to work with insecurity, instead of it being our enemy or vice versa. I think a good way to do this is setting realistic goals and using yourself as a measure of growth instead of others. Comparison really is the thief of joy :)
@@gracemannion5315 tbh i sometimes pick words up and use them properly without knowing what they mean or come from. contextually, it means like.. bs. lol i’m not sure if it is, but it could be!
Hey,I can't stop thinking about this since I watched your video on your hair journey and how it got worse. You had mentioned you started to drink soy milk . It seemed from what you posted your issues with hair got worse after. Soy is actually a hormone disrupter for some and could very well be why your hair changed so drastically. I have thyroid issues and try to stay away from it. You may try almond milk. Hope this helps
Heyyy Isabella! Your hair Is looking so long and healthy! Olaplex might hace not worked wonders on your hair, but the fact that you switched your mentality from "why ir dries this wayy!!!" To "this Is just the way it Is" Is very healthy for your mental health. I have the same problem and just accepting that this Is the way my hair naturally Is has saved me so many frustrations and bad momentos. BTW your hair blowed dry looks fricking AMAZING, can you do a tutorial on it?? My hair Is also wavy and i would love to make it look straight every now and then to switch it up a bit without the damage from my flat iron. Thank you and keep it up! Love the content
I love Olaplex! It saved my super damaged blonde hair. I was using the No. 3 twice a week for a few months last year and over time I definitely believe it's helped with the strength of my hair. My hair fall dramatically got better (My blonde hair used to snap off). Now I use it once every two weeks alternating with my regular moisture or protein treatments as I try to grow out the last of the damaged blonde hair. I have to say I've also noticed the ends of my hair haven't been splitting, which is helping me to grow it longer as the trims I get aren't needing to get a lot of hair trimmed off. I recently tried the no. 0 along with the no. 3 and in the first try, I noticed my hair was dramatically softer and silkier than it is usually after a no. 3 treatment. The no. 0 really made a difference! Although, a note for wavy/curly girls, I also noticed my waves were more relaxed and didn't spring up as much after that washday with the no. 0.
