Yes, I literally watch these videos synced with my both monitors and just switch the audio source based on what happens on the screen. The game audio changes but the speech says the same. This is actually fun!

Said it on Hyce's video, but I'm weighing in here: DM3s. Explodey gearboxes, stalling engines, engines going boom, and having to make sure you don't over-rev the engine down hills. Or, if you want a bundle of evil... DM3 plus S060, double-heading. The fiddly steam engine that likes to go "bang" at a moment's notice, and the cantankerous oil-burner with manual gearboxes that need to be managed at all times.

Decided to take part in the race at the same time and you both actually made your life so much harder by not waiting an extra 10 seconds to build good pressure before leaving. I made it all the way without dipping below 20kmh, you should try that next time. Also, maybe opening the blower all the way is not the best idea, I did it with only 1 or 2 clicks and it worked beautifully. Last tip, try to not let pressure drop below 13bar, remember higher pressure=more efficiency because you can hook up more bar for the same tractive effort. For maximum performance I'd recommend: Open dampers. Full reg. Maximum of 3 clicks on the blower, the faster you are going, the less blower you need. Regulate pressure with bar and injector, you have to watch it very closely and keep doing small adjustments to maintain optimal pressure and water level. Remember, pressure and speed are your best friends!!

I think you should do one with the s2-8-2 wheel arrangements mod, where you each pick a loco and try to do the same job. But Kan should pick first, so it's a test of his ability to pick the best wheel arrangement for the job.

Tips: 1. The 6 sign with the 1.8 is where the grade changes. Back up a little behind the sign then stop, not miles back. 2. Build your bar up to 13, then start going. The fire temp will increase dramatically with the draft and cause your pressure to skyrocket. 3. If you are popping the safety, turn up the johnson bar or add more water in order to do something productive instead of losing water. 4. Dampen the fire if you aren't using steam so you don't pop the safety. Conserving water and coal is important as you have seen.

So, kAN, question: any particular reason you always empty you shovel after filling the firebox? Is that the "striving for realism" thing? Hyce leaves the shovel full every time, not that it actually matters; but for a race, maybe it does? I have loved these races with Hyce, I hope much and very that you guys do turn this into a series. It's really good to see these videos where you learn things, and showcase that new knowledge in the next video. Comment I left with Hyce mentioned you guys doing a race with a mod he has, I think that would be fun; but it'll be a future thing, once you get real good with steam locos in DV. I also notice you don't seem to use "lean" to look out of the loco down the line.
