I really enjoy this format of video. It is a nice mix of first person and casting as you get the insight into your thinking but also some more info on what you retroactively add. All in all very entertaining and I hope you do more in the future :)
I saw that live. Omg, was so rooting for you dude, then so crushed! Great idea until the tragic Alamo pylon. Happy to see it from your view- some closure 😂 You wins were awesome!!
Heartbreaking but good lesson to learn for the future, excited to see the recovery and blowout, at 4 min. Good luck captain Edit: Is the reason you played Reynor first because he was top seed and you were bottom because you were on the bubble of getting in on your last game? If that's the case nothing can be done but if it was drawn then that's a really tough break. Reynor is super scary, bad opponent to get.
Harstem might not consistently beat reynor and dark and maru and these guys but the man also casts. Makes great videos. Studies the game in it entirety. Dudes a legend
Great games, Captain, I watched them live, watched them now and I'm so impressed by your preparation! Taking 2 maps in a dominating fashion by punishing Reynor's mistakes and looking so HOT and close in 2 more - I'm ecstatic to see your next games. You are looking so SOLID even with the mistakes you made, can't imagine what BEAST you would be if you manage to clear them up. WP vs Bly, I hope we see that series as well with your comments. You completely destroyed him, making him look like a second rated player who took one map just by chance. Good luck vs Spirit! Can't wait to see what you have prepared for him.
oh man the fact that you reverse swept makes the first game ever more painful id have such a hard time sleeping. its one thing if he stomps you the rest of the games but you were literally one game short and that game was a free win sighh :/
Our boy Harstem: one of the best preparation of the scene, but doesn't want to wake his killer instinct (that still sleeps in the year 2016). (sorry for the sarcasm, just hope you could unleash your true power).
Ah glad to see you uploaded this series! Was a really fun one. Great set of games. Really got a lot more than most people do out of their glaive openings.
Man so close! I think you could have won game 1 and 5 had some minor details gone differently, still awesome to see you almost reverse sweep a previous world champion!!!!
I dont like it when Harstem talks himself down. Captain you have to remember that you are one of the best sc2 players in the world playing against the other best players of the world. Its always a pleasure to see you play and despite my Bias as a zerg player I will always continue to cheer for you. I admire the attitude of staying in and still doing your best to win. Thats a good anology for real life aswell. Keep it up and never loose hope :)
does protoss even have an answer to mutalisks? stalkers have dogshit cost efficiency and phoenixes usually don't build up to a critical mass to actually attack into mutas
Phoenix, storm... When they finally let adepts attack air again, adepts, lol. Guardian shield also helps. Winter's patch has a late game upgrade for the Stalker at the dark shrine that gives +2 range vs Air ( think Thor anti air range)
I think that Strange glaive/adept build would transition strongly into 2+ robo bay immortals. IE, instead of spending the extra gas on sentries, building an extra robo basically doubles how many immortals come with the follow-up push. As is, there are plenty of adepts to keep lings off them, they just don't have the damage to deal with the roaches and queens.
Great content. Thanks. My constructive criticism though is to loose the excessive, unskippable, insecant, 90 seconds ads. It kills the flow of all your content. I can't be the only one who immediately wants to click off of your content when 30 seconds in, there's a 90 second ad I can't skip, and knowing there will be at least 3 more of them in a 15 minute video. This video was bad with this, but not the worst.
So, you initially claim use "the Strange build" but then you are not actually using "the Strange build" but some your own build that has some similarities to "the strange build". Seems like a thing you have been complaining a lot in the "Is it IMBA or do I suck videos"; Claiming to use some build but actually using some totally different build.
Your narration style is very different depending on whether you won or lost the game. When you lost, you're going to talk about your faults. When you won, you'll mention your good moves and the opponent's mistake more often. Kinda spoils the watching experience, but it's all valuable insight you're providing.
Dear Harstem, can I simply share with you that when I simp for Classic, I have noticed that when he plays glaivdepts, he will always look to bounce between two bases? Meaning to say, he will attack a base with his first move out, and I believe the intention is to bait the Zerg into a poor position to defend the base and sometimes if he shades in and has to shade out, he comes back to the first base he was attacking and then he has potential to kill the base because he was attacking that base at the very beginning.
So the thing that I love doing to zerg players is zlot phoenix. If they go roach, you get some immortals and it's pretty effective against them. Keep your phoenix active taking overlords and constantly hunt them down. Like 2 base 2 starport can pump them out pretty consistently. If they get banelings or roaches, you get a couple immortals or void rays. You will be scouting them constantly for either of those tech swaps too since phoenix are hyper fast. He can't build muta against it and by the time you have a huge source of phoenix, he won't be able to get so many corruptors out or get hunted by phoenix. If he gets hydra, you get stalkers and pick up hydras by having your stalkers start the fight and have phoenix swoop in. You have to hide the first like 4-6 phoenix and don't stop making them until either they get out of the hole you dig them or you get 12 or so. You take anything you want at that point. I had tons of success with it. You have to hunt overlords or it won't be as effective. Good transition out is dt into archon. Zlots target spores, dts go uninterupted.
Imagine having two to three Templars with Storm or some Sentries to Forcefield the ramp at 1:05:49 . . . Or two Stasis Wards on the ramp to your 4th and maybe one on the little ramp towards the Natural and most army chilling on the 3rd base at 1:05:14.
I just learned so much from this series alone!! thank you so much for explaining the thought process and strategy guidelines!! Greetings from Costa Rica!
It is so interesting to hear your side of the games..I would love to see you sit down with someone you've played a series with and talk about the chemistry of it all..
Thanks! Great to have such videos! Wanted to see those and I think even asked in comments. Cool to see how you play in tournaments and hear comments! Interesting and educational!
