@@sqfzerzefsdf tbh I don’t know much about his story. Jhin was added around the time I started playing league and I remember there being a lot of hype that’s all :p
There’s something kind of magical and pure as a League player to watch a guy who knows nothing about the game give his initial impressions on all the characters. It’s like showing a little kid the entire Smash roster for the first time to see what they think of all the characters they never heard of.
I stopped playing League years ago, but I still feel an attachment to the universe and lore, so watching this video gave me a lot of joy as well. I can't wait for the eventual Rate the Roster/Supers for this one in a few years
Played this game since season 6, I didn't even realize the roster size and variety you could have up until someone who doesn't play league call it out lmao
Too bad that I'll never get the really weird stuff I want, just the usual waifu and husbando characters. Give me Chogath, kogmaw, Zac, Reksai, Nautilus, Maokai, Velkoz or something.
@@mythmage8231 reading all theses comments made me realise all these people wanna just make a figthing game that plays like league of legends , like dude almost almost 75% of characters are zooners, wich this people call AdC before some ape says Idk anything about league , league is a moba , they making a figthing game coz they have some good looking chararcter that can make a good figthing game FIGTHING GAME but all these people talk about like all the abilities in the moba would make sence in a figthing game . I find It little bit annoying they tryna make everyone Get into league of legends and the pc game and the whole roaster history wich is completly long and everycharcarter has their own history just coz now we getting a new figthing game :D
"they're not gonna make anumumu an extremely dynamic character" just you wait until you see amumu the sad grappler getting announced with his famous line "let me give you a hug"
if you add sett in the roster and if there is a Japanese voice choice pick the japanese voice of him and unleash your JoJo hype. He is essencialy Dio Brando from Phantom Blood
"Laughs in unblockable loops into death combos" Fun fact: since Petshop is airborne, YOU CAN'T HIT HIM WITH A LOW ATTACK, making some characters useless against him.
He said it wrong, like most of the league community. That name is pronounced like “Shin Jow”. X makes an sh sound and Zh is a J sound in Chinese names.
@@wabbajack8283 In all honesty, I want his W to have a recast that is a cone-shaped Burp attack that knocks enemies back. That would add so much more flexibility to his kit
@@johnnyAFIRE idk but he already has enough CC with his Q, E, and ult. Having another knock back in his W would make him a CC machine especially since he has low cool downs in mid to late game.
Yeah azir will be annoying as well like Pet Shop, if per shop can spam icicle bullshits, azir just fucking spam his sand guards at you and distancing like a bitch cause all he does is command and stay away
Being a nunu main, i was so happy nunu and willump caught his eye. I love those two so much and it warms my heart to see him choose those two. Imaging voiclines like "one too many snowballs" as you demolish your opponent would be silly
He makes a really good point about Zoe if she were added. "Its a fighting game, she cant one shot you", and you get the added bonus of beating the shit out of her and getting revenge for the PTSD she gave you on release :D
@@carcionpetto well, they might have to add viego because he's literally one of the most important characters in league (whether people liked the ruination event or not). Also sett because he's literally a fighting character
@@jahsuo4254 imo of the eboys Viego has more flavour. The weapon, the weird colour scheme, the story. Also having dark magic is cool for having interesting attacks. Sett doesn’t bring much new to the table. It’s just a buff dude… with furry ears. He does look like a Tekken character tho.
@@carcionpetto The OG roster has some good picks but some of them should definitely be the newer characters like Akshan’s grapple would be a fun mechanic and wouldn’t be broken af like people who have straight up dashes or teleports. In a fighting game that is.
0:52 ... the sad fact of knowing exactly what EACH of those characters can do, their full lore and backstories, their items, their play styles, AND THEIR DAMAGE is dawning to me
Yeah, the more you think about it, the more ridiculous the amount of shit you know about League becomes. I started playing right after nocturn was released, and even back then, the amount of characters and items took ages to understand. I'm sry, but you have to be clinically insane if you pick up league in 2022.
To be fair, Kench in a fighting game would probably have the same problem as, say, Urgot, Malphite, Alistar... Too big for the screen. They would have to downsize him to fit on screen without taking 50% of it.

"Sett doesn't have the aesthetic I'm looking for" You just decided that the literal boss of a fighting arena, and also DIO, is not fit for a FIGHTING GAME He definitely will be in the game, if not in the primary roster, as DLC. Vi is probably in too because of Jinx (their are related characters). Everything else are okay pics (You missed Voli, which I think would make a good pick too).
@@alicefleugel yeah, that would work, Garen could be a really beginner friendly fighter, for instance. But also no, because Vi and Jinx are actually related, while Garen and Darius/Kat are mostly nods to the community or Riot trying to make parallels. Draven would be more likely to be in because of his relation to Darius, but I dunno if he would fit
Sad part about this is the League Champions website doesn't show modern Fiddlesticks in his proper glory. it still has his old design even after a well over a year of the rework being out. A real shame cause I feel like Max would have LOVED it :(
Max: "I see that many don't like Zoe when it comes to play against her in the game. So basically, she's your Chun-Li!" Me: *He's out of line, but he's right!*
@@RawkLobstah88 He said how people hate to fight the character. Not sure that many people hate fighting Chun as much as some characters like Guile and Dahlism. A bit biased to be honest I am a Chun li main!
@@TheMike5125 Oh trust me, if you walk higher on the totem pole of fighting games, most people DESPISE Chun-Li Guile and Dhalsim are those characters you hate when you're new or learning, since they are very punishing to people without fundamentals, while Chun-Li is just..terrifying to deal with. Zoe is the same, you never see her, thus the ones you DO see, are absolute monsters.
"We are creating a good, healthy roster" *adds Riven. Should we tell him or not? Edit: Yes Riven was designed with fighting games in mind which doesnt matter to my post. Ahri and Jinx do not share this trait and they are in the game already before launch. I meant Riven’s and Riven otp’s notoriety in soloQ thank you very much.
"I dunno, this Shen guy looks a little tryhard..." "Now Zed, THIS guy, HE'S definitely not looking tryhard at all! Also probably really honest in game!"
I mean you can't blame him, shen definitely tries too hard to be a ninja but In reality he's a brute of a man, just by looking how hes built , he's a huge slab of muscle and strength lmao , he's more of a monk or an actual sam sho guy tbh
This is the kinda stuff the game actually needs, Max has NO idea what roles these characters play in league and it's the perfect view point for making the roster.
This has made me realize that many characters in league are extremely dependent on you knowing their movesets to provide insight into their character designs.
Yep, Max called Shen Noob Saibot when Zed is basically has Noob's moveset with the clones and stuff. I think he would've gotten a kick out of Jhins obsession with 4
League has a bunch of champions that are basically fighting game characters thrown into a moba, so it's definitely pretty exciting to see a lot of them make it in, and if they do wanna build the game up long term maybe the roster will get pretty crazy (which will ultimately make balancing harder)
I honestly think.... The final roster will never end. They will just keep going. Once they get used to how to make a fighting games they are gonna be spitting out those characters like it's nothing. They got Tencent, Riot, and Epic games money now....
@@itselguapo That's kind of what scares me tbh. At some point the cast is going to be incredibly large that they'll stop bothering with balance like how I've been hearing League hasn't really been bothering with balance either.
@@Kaliospectre Honestly I think you guys are being a tad paranoid. Riot may have the money needed to do it, but the amount of time and effort it would take to catch up with League's ever-expanding roster would be nightmarish. Legends of Runeterra hasn't even adapted half the Champions into the game and we've got like 3 new ones on the way right now. Besides, I honestly think there are just some Champs who just straight-up don't work in a fighting game format. I can't for the life of me envision Xerath or Heimerdinger doing melee combos.
Interestingly, Riven was designed to play like a character from a fighting game-with lots of combos and fast movements-and allowing her to cancel animations fit into that gameplay pattern.
Kindred would make an interesting puppet character - think mid-range zoner with a selectively active puppet. Think Relius from BB, but with less melee options and more projectiles.
@@kylenguyen7371 Old League was really unapologetic about the influense on their designs. I still remember when Sion was just a walking Arnold Schwarzenegger reference, and little else.
"She's not going to oneshot people in a fighting game." I feel like there's irony in the fact that Max's favorite thing in fighting games is to find TODs.
It’s just cause in fighting games, ‘one-shotting’ someone just takes more time and is called a ToD. But the result is identical and the requirements are exactly the same: having enough resources.
I hope he gives the show a chance. It just came out and it’s incredibly well made. One of the few video game adaptations that is actually good. And you don’t need to know anything about league of legends to watch it. 9 episodes, an easy binge.
This is cool, it’s nice seeing how people react to the cast. You can definitely spend hours talking about these designs… LoL has a lot of character designs that are really generic. And some that are pulled directly from other media. Like, Max is right. Talon is an Assassin’s Creed character, Shen is giving Mortal Kombat, Cho'Gath is The Violator, and Wukong is… take a wild guess. But there are champions with some interesting ideas behind them, and honestly even some of the generic ones are appealing to me. Ya just look at them and know what they’re about, which is kind of nice. I’d start listing my favorites but there are a lot of characters so um, here’s just two. I like Morgana, the dark half-angel who binds her wings in chains to bring herself closer to humanity. And I love Braum, a mustachioed, shield-bearing hero whose strongest muscle is his heart.
I didn't get that last bit. What's Wukong based on? I don't consume a lot of Western media since I'm pretty Jaded by all of that stuff. Honestly, a lotta things can be absolute Journeys with Western rabbit holes and I don't have the patience of a Buddha to bear that stuff.
@@uhoh7545 Wukong is based on Wukong lmfao Y'know, the monkey god from chinese mythology. It's a super overused trope in pop culture, just like nine tailed foxes
@@uhoh7545 yeah wukong is literally in damn near every game at this point. Warframe, Paragon, LoL, Warriors Orochi, Smite, Brawlhalla(skin for Wu Shang), Kirby and like 20+ games based directly on him including the newest one coming out called Black Myth: Wukong. If hes not an official character, hes definitely a skin to someone
@@yagokain4189 correction , what is trash is Riot's balance team on the moba, the game itself it's not that bad, unless is balanced by four fishes, which is the case, most of the time
Honestly the fact that this video is made from the perspective of someone that's never engaged in the League IP actually makes it even better, since it directly shows designs that would be appealing from people looking in on Project L as someone who's never engaged with the IP.
"There's actually going to be a League of Legends fighting game, so now there's actually going to be people paying attention to the balance of how the game is played, the purity of the video game experience. Clearly." I nearly spit out my drink at that one. Considering Riot's balance team isn't going to be touching that, he has no idea how right he is.
We meme about Riot's balance team but realistically, LoL is balanced much better than most mainstream fighting games. Not to mention, it's a team composition-focused game so a single OP of the week champion doesn't destroy the meta in the same way something like Leroy does in fighting games. And the 10 bans each game also takes care of broken champions.
@@GahloWake Oh yeah absolutely... ... ... ... .... ...... ........ ......... .............. ....... You just let me know when it's okay to laugh sarcastically, m'kay?
Considering league has like a million characters and none of them are above 55% average win rate, then we can say that the game is actually pretty balanced FOR A 5V5 GAME, of course there are situations in which a 1v1 is just unwinnable (10-0 matchups) but that's the nature of team games. You're meant to rely on your team and play to your strengths. Even if playing Adc when the enemy team has 4 assassins is absolute bullshit.
This reminds me of the time I had a friend who loved DnD and WoW but somehow he's never played Dota. What a treat it was to teach him about each character.
Maybe this was already commented but a fun fact about Riven. When she was made for League, the devs had in mind a Fighting Game character, so that's why her toolkit can cancel animations and stuff. So it only will make sense that she's in the game, no questions asked.
@@vincentcircharo8259 either you're supposed to say "mild" in that sentence or you intentionally said mid; either way, Riven mid will be eternally painful to look at, or as the others had said, cringe.

Revisiting after all of the Project L releases and it's great seeing that he correctly guessed Illaoi, Yasuo, and Katarina as being a part of the game! lol
Max upon seeing Aatrox: "So this guy IS the install super!" I laughed for a good long while at that one, holy shit. He would love the hell out of Aatrox's lore, I think. It's just his brand of edgy.
@@nikomiranda3112 think of it as a transformation ability for a character in a fighting game. It usually costs some resource and has upsides and downsides. The reason yi and aatrox could have install supers is because their Ults are self buffs/steroids
All the Arcane members will definitely be in the fighting game for sure. Vi, Jinx, Jayce, Ekko, Caitlyn, Heimerdinger, maybe Singed and Viktor. I hope the game gets a shit ton of support and eventually adds every character in maybe a decade after its release lol. It’d also be awesome to fight the Baron and Dragons and stuff in a story mode.
