I was a limo driver in the tri-state for 18 years and whenever I was in lower Manhattan in between or waiting for a job, I would always try to park on 3rd St. because it was the safest street in Manhattan. I could park my car, shut my eyes, get some rest, and not have to worry one bit about anyone disturbing me or my car. I soon found out that Hells Angels had their clubhouse right there in the Bowery and then it all made sense why that neighborhood was safer than all the others. I gave up the limo job a while ago and haven't been down that way in years, but you should check it out when you get a chance (if you haven't already).

Make sure you lock your car. There’s a report that there’s a one armed bandit.! Haha

I've met a few Hells Angels members here in New Zealand and they have always been friendly to me and other people. I remember one time me and my dad went to see my aunty and uncle in 2010 a couple of years before they both passed away in 2012 I think from memory, we stopped for a pack of smokes each and a drink, I ended up seeing these beautiful Harley Davidson motorcycle's at the gas pumps and so I asked my dad if I could have a look at them quickly and he told me sure just don't touch them so I had a look at them. After about a couple of minutes about 5 or 6 guys came out of the gas station and asked if I was ok and I let them know I was a huge fan of Harley Davidson motorcycle's then I noticed the hells angels patches I thought "oh crap I messed up now" but we got to talking I was asking questions about there bikes and they asked if I ok and I said "yea I've just never met MC members before" they told me not to worry and MC members get a bad rap but also there are bad people in the MC's but for the most part if your respectful to them they'll be respectful to you. I was about 15 or 16 years old at the time

I can't imagine you would go to Las Vegas without a thought to its early Mob influence. I know you just arrived, so I must point it out to be safe. "Bugsy" Siegel started the Las Vegas Strip. We are only a few days after the annual anniversary of his being killed in Los Angeles on June 20th. It was all Organized Crime related. There is only a single shrine that honors Ben Siegel. It is next to the Wedding chapel in the garden of the Flamingo. I'm told there is now a Mob Museum. Thanks for the interesting work you do.

Sending love from Portland Oregon! Found you during the pandemic, 2020 probably? I have family in Vegas, went for the first time 5 years ago. I'd seen it 1000's of times on TV (the strip and the the show, Cops). Really weird to actually be there. Didn't seem real. Strange to walk the strip, go into casinos, buy food, breathe the air, drive a car down the strip, etc. I liked it there. Nice people. The people in the Pacific Northwest suck, IMHO. Most people don't talk to each other and are very closed off.

The Chingalings!!! Thats a name I thought I would never hear again. I was hanging out with a few Angels one summer night. They used to come and hang out right in my neighborhood because Big Joes tattoo parlor was a safe place to hang out. Joe would always find a place for any HA that came up to his place. Mostly HA Nomads. And Eddie Reeds custom motorcycles was another place to hang out. I had my big twin Pan/Shovel and we wound up at the Chingalings clubhouse downtown! What a night. Boozed and other stuff fueling us late into the night. This was back in the seventies, so things could have changed. Back then there were other clubs tolerated by HA. The Bronx Aliens MC, Manhattan MC, Yonkers MC... It was a crazy time. There was Mardos bike shop in the Bronx, Tall Pauls shop in Mount Vernon. I worked for Paul for a short while and I remember Pauls Bronx Aliens cut hanging on the wall since the club disbanded? Not sure about that. Back then, I believe the Chingalings were a feeder club for the NYC chapter of Hells Angels. The Angels bought a pizza place near Big Joes. I used to get some pizza and beer there all the time. Oh, man it was a great time and great place to grow up. I joined the Army in '79 and moved to North Carolina, being stationed in the 82nd at Fort Bragg. I got paralyzed in '88 by a guy that ran a stop sign and T-boned me. He took off never to be found. So after seven months, i was out of the hospital, rehab etc. I got out of the Army and settled here in NC, my fathers birthplace. I hate NYC now. I have no family or friends alive up there. So, no reason to go to the God forsaken place any more. Like Bob Dylan said: "All the people we used to know are an illusion to me now".

On your trip there did you take a trip to Laughlin where the river run shooting and fight happened? All of Vegas has turned into a crap hole. Not like it used to be. And props to you for not stopping for the guy at the bus area that wanted to walk out infront of you. Happens way too many times and people stop and it only makes them do it more. You had the right of way, but you knew that already.
