As your mother (and your dentist!), I have to say that as much as I appreciate and admire you trying out local traditions and customs, please stick with your toothbrush 🪥 🦷😂😂😂😂!! Absolutely LOVED this video ❤️❤️❤️
usually it is chewed and spit out the remains afterward. The hawker stalls often have warm sugar cane for sale in winter. Obviously not healthy with a half hour long sugar chewing session plus may break a few teeth in the process.
Jasmine did get my attention as well, Cute is an understatement in this case here. I can’t help but notice when Jasmine and Amy together appear in the same frame, “東方古典美“ is what I could think of if you ask me of my impression of Jasmine. Cute is more for young girl with a bubbly personality.
I love the content of this video, I watched it twice. More of this kind of stuff please. Some rural adventures that bring you closer to beautiful sceneries and its people
come to Hainan in the southmost of China's province, we got Li and Miao Minorities. jungles, mountains, beaches, fun, definition of China's coastal paradise.
Just had an afterthought you could do an extreme foods series that starts with wild peanut and rabbit raisin sticky rice bao!🤢😱 jokin of course, that place is amazing, perfect for me to come home and die ❤
I have great respect to Jasmin's cousin for devoting his life to a poor village in Guizhou. I taught in Guizhou a few years back and this video reminds me of the simple time there.
To help you add some information, China has been building a "new countryside" in recent years. The state has invested trillions of funds in rural "heavy assets" (housing, roads, water, electricity, network and logistics) to make up for the differences between cities and villages. Molly's cousin is not only a volunteer, but also a person similar to the operator. If the tourism industry here is developed, he will also get corresponding returns (direct income or promotion). This is the strategic development direction China has found in the current situation of excessive urban density.
This channel deserves more subscribers. Guys, let's get more people to join! The content here is so enjoyable and the effort it takes to get to these locations and film it is huge. Go Blondie go! ✌
@@clashnoobbeater274 china just upped its threshold of what it defined as poor.. once upon a time if you owned a bicycle you're well off.. i guest now you have to own a electric neo or tesla to be classified as rich.. and i don't see any neo or tesla in that village..
@@clashnoobbeater274 tell me what the poorest region is? Guizhou and Gansu are two poorest provinces (poorer than Tibet) in China and this place is in very remote Guizhou, it has to be the poorest place in China
You probably don’t wanna hear it, but that’s what the local of the local CPC members are doing, otherwise without somebody trying to promoting those places, the ppl would just gone to seeking modern life.
@@minfengli4027 I think with all the big companies like Alibaba, Apple, Huawei and others that have setup and opened their data centres and used of renewable solar energy in this province, it will catch up with other provinces very soon.
In Brazil at my farm we used to make a alcohol from sugar cane . It is called " cachaça", in Portuguese language. We also make " rapadura" which is similar of chinese browne sugar cane. So, your video is very familiar to me as remind me good memories. Keep posting your trips , Blond. It is a amazing job to do.
Learning Mandarin takes me to all these great channels. This one showing the other side of China compared to the bigger cities. Such a beautiful and diverse country. Thanks for sharing.
Are you aware that the dialect spoken in Bejing is called Putonghua and that no Asian alive calls that dialect Mandarin? The only things that are Mandarin is the vibrant duck and the tiny oranges.
Even the productions in China, it's rarely to travel so deep for exploring the cultures of minorities and suburban places like that! It's very surprised that a foreign lady can record the reality and interest at those very traditional local cultures! I'm glad about it and I'm expecting the next videos like this!
@@clashnoobbeater274 This is indeed a poor area in China, but now it is obviously slowly being packaged by the local government as a cultural village for ethnic minorities.
Thx for sharing. Jasmine’s cousin has my full respect. The minorities in China have their unique culture and food, the villages of Guangxi, Guizhou, Fujian and Sichuan are cool place to visit away from urban cities. Also, 荔波in 贵州 is highly recommended. Been to Xiaoqikong(小七孔) once, so beautiful and really yummy food. My wife and I love the 干烧牛背筋(chewy and tasty) and 杨梅汤(Spring local special on April and May). The Jiuzhaigou Vally(九寨沟) in Sichuan Province is 5-star recommendation as well, one of the most beautiful places in China, it’s been on my list for long.
My elder sister is like Jasmin´s cusin. My sister works for the goverment. Her job is also to help the poor village to get richer. She had been stayed in a remote village in Yunan Province for three years now. The village is so remote and it is not convinient for our family to visit her. From her wechat info, the village changed a lot by far. Her job is not only to help build the roads, renovate their homes together with other two colleagues, but also to train them to get to the know the world outside their village. Now they have internet and starts to sell local foods by internet. They have had a ´post office´ in the village where locals can ship their fresh food to near cities or even around the country. My parents bought some fruits from them and it is so tasty, much better than what we can get from supermarkets. I am living in Denmark. Though it is inconvinient, someday i would go to visit that village my sister spent her energy in. Wish they can get rid of poverty soon.
This feels like a throwback to simpler times pre-Internet. Fits the theme of the recent video about travelling without a phone. A place like this would be a great destination for those seeking a digital detox.
@@clashnoobbeater274 it definitely used to be one of the poorest regions in China for a long time, and it got better by developing tourism industry, however certainly there are many more places of poverty didn't manage to find their ways to richness and still stay to be quite poor in China right now.
Probably not an alcohol detox though! haha Made me laugh when Jasmine was a little drunk, no longer spoke English. I also seem to forget all my Chinese when I've had a few too many!
Everyone had the biggest smiles on their face the whole time you were there! I felt like they were so proud to be able to show off their town, while also being able to joke and converse with you like they would a friend !!! I feel like everyone just had an amazing time and I love to see it. Genuinely love this video amy♥️ also u and ur best friend are so funny when you get together
Ohhh! It took me back to 94 the first time my dad gave me that sugar cane to gnaw 😂. Being the first time as teen going to see China. So nostalgic, I visited my Fujian ancestors home too. It had the same atmosphere lol but now when I last visit in 18 it really developed. My uncle family still live there and they have 3 story house with lift and 2 Europa cars. They live better than us who immigrated from there. China really developed so quickly. I saw with my on eyes Shanghai developments. From nothing to see in Pudong to metropolitan today.
OMG Amy, this may be my favorite video of yours yet!! (I like so many.) These cultural travel vlogs are on another level. Thanks for showing us how people in one of the poorest regions in China live. They seem very proud of their local traditions and culture, vibrant, hardworking, and optimistic (not resentful and destructive to their living environment). You are helping us become better world citizens through understanding a vastly different culture like China rather than judging because they are "different".🌎 Kudos🥰 👍🫂👏 Oh and it's official. The chemistry between and Jasmine is nothing short of phenomenal and magical!!😍💞 Jasmine just lights up your already awesome videos😸💘
Yet another heart-warming episode. Also, kudos to the cousin of your best friend for leaving the comfort of city life in Nanking to work in one of the poorest region of China 1,600 km from home. He deserves our respect. Keep it up!
Love your video as always! Could always put a smile on my face, and make me realize how much of my own country I have yet to discover. I really admire your courage and adventurous spirit Amy!
Hi Amy, I'm not sure if you can see this, but there seems to be a troll in your comment section terrorizing innocent commenters---it's the "robin hood" guy, you should be able to find him pretty easily as he has been doing this a lot, and not just under this video. I know you can't possibly block every troll and there will always be trolls, but I think he's obnoxious enough to warrant a block. Eh, I guess he could always just make another account, but still.
Wow such a beautiful video as usual of course. I really enjoy listening to the young lady sing it is so soothing to the ears. May I ask, does Jasmine have a RU-vid account that she also post to? I enjoy her interaction with you as well as her fluent speaking of the English language. And it interest me very much that she transitioned so well between Mandarin and English.
I really enjoyed watching this episode. And I can tell Amy enjoyed the adventure too. Everyone in the village looks so happy although the life is simple. I look forward to the next episode of your adventure.
Its seems like it is not one of China's poor region, it seems like the region with full of grounded people who have "peace of mind under the influence of nature".
Wow, another champion video! Thank you for showing the rest of the world how lovely, peaceful and harmony the old world was. I think I am in love with Jasmin. She is very kind and beautiful. A side note: you pronounce herbs with a h sound. it's so cute.
Thank you Amy for sharing this video . As one of your loyal fans , I’m deeply touched by your hard work of filming and editing each and every video. Most importantly you showed us a new world. It’s like taking us to travel around the world. It’s quite encouraging and happy to see the positive sides of each person that you visited: the hospitality , humors , confidence and respect for natures etc. Your work is meaningful. Thank you for sharing your great travel experience with netizens. You are definitely a cultural ambassador. Wish you very best of luck :)
Great video! What a nice people in that village! I love your content. I think of you as a cultural explorer! You're amazing. And I'm learning Chinese so your videos help. ps: Jazmine is so lovely!
The way they made the brown sugar, was also adopted by the Chinese diaspora in West Borneo, Indonesia until mid-80s, remember bought this type of brown sugar when I was a kid for Mom to made some desserts, the shape were either in a square block a size of box matches or circular ice hockey pug.
i lived in guizhou for years and visited a lot of remote villages. guizhou is really beautiful. my apartment is still there with everything i couldn't get back to because of you-know-what in 2020, so i'm hoping to go back soon and get everything😂
Ok I found your channel 3 weeks ago and I have binged all your content. From your chop stick video, your fathers dad jokes, your journey through and out of covid, each video has been wonderful. You are my latest obsession. Much love from Perth Western Australia 🇦🇺
Might be poor in money, but RICH in culture and hospitality. I really LOVE your content Amy, thank you so much for sharing so much high quality amazingness ❤
Really enjoy this episod! Beautiful village and warm hospitality of the BuYi ethnic people! Thx to Amy and Jasmine, of course Jasmine's cousin for your contribution to promote the remote country areas!
This give me so much hope for humanity and the world, I wish I never have to watch news and I have Blondie videos to watch every day! Thank you for all the positivities and the cool adventure
@squiggly2305 not really, I just think China doesn’t have as many bed per person if they got as sick as us here in USA, we had 1m+ death with only 1/4 China’s population, plus they have so many more crowded cities than us, imagine how many death would cause, will you call that good human right? The lack resource for ambitious goal is sad, but not any worse in hurting human right than killing million people to save economy for rich peoples stock…
There is such an authenticity and joyfulness to your content that I can't get enough of! I studied Chinese for three years and studied abroad in Nanjing, and your videos make me miss China so much. I love your adventurous palate and thanks for showing us all these amazing foods.
Highly recommend spending some days in southern Guizhou, particularly 小七孔 at 荔波, and east southern Guizhou, 肇庆侗寨, ethnic Dong village. And go to 加傍梯田, one of the 3 biggest terrace patty fields in China, we regretted not spending one or two nights at 加傍
I'm only used to having raw banana blossoms in Asian julienned salads: have never even tried them cooked... now seeing you trying them deep-fried makes them look so much better!
Your food videos are great. But this one is really special. I loved this and I prefer this one, doesn't matter if it long. Great content. Make more such vlog. More work maybe but definitely better content.
Blondie, if only more of your compatriots, the Canberra political elite and media with your positive attitude towards China, accomodating and understanding its people, culture and even politics instead of the Sinophobia that is now encompassing whole the political and social discourse down under. It will get worse as your general elections approach as self serving politicians seeking votes would find someone, some country to blame for their own screwups.
China is an incredibly large country. Uplifting 800 millions of people out of poverty is a unbelievable achievement. And this achievement goes to president Xi Jinping for his endless hard-working effort to make that happen ! Which is why people of China respected president Xi for that commitment. I can only say for myself that I truly respect president Xi for being such a great leader, not only for his domestic policies but also those foreign policies that brought only good things to the world.
Hey! Awesome video, so cool! Just curious, I know a lot of other similar creators are actually subsidized by local governments to increase tourism for certain areas! Were you offered to do this as well/are you doing it now? I just think that's such a cool system to increase awareness of China!
Pity that I could eat a lot of sweet stuffs when young. I certainly loved chewing sugar canes, eating raw brown sugar and so on.😋 Now I have to worry about blood sugar level.😒 Anyway, it's a very enjoyable video. Thanks Amy and Jasmine.
Any episode with Jasmine in it will always get my attention and watched till the end. She is such a classy woman with a great personality and such a fantastic Spence of humour !!!!❤❤❤
14:18 you know another way to enjoy this? With freshly brewed coffee! the flavor of cane sugar and brewed coffee is 100% awesome! Honestly, this village can pack them in jars and partner with a coffee shops. And goats' milk is another thing that can go with coffee too!
China's ethnic peoples are doing well. Even their "poorest" are eating well with freedom to pursue their culture and life without fear. Thanks for showing us.
Nice video as always, Amy! By the way, do you have the link on how to book a stay in that Banwan Village in Guizhou? PS: I also remember LiZiQi when you guys are squeezing the sugar canes! Haha :)
