Sorry it's been 2 weeks since my last video! I've been with friends & family for my birthday! :) But coming BACK WITH THIS SH*T HOT GS! ..... Also... You might notice a birthday present on my wrist.... ;)
I was lucky enough to snag one of these the day after seeing the Watchfinder video and it arrived this morning. Have to say I'm pretty blown away by it. The dial is subtle and changes in colour gently depending on the light and angle but always looks great. During the day it's gone from a subtle pink to a white and through different shades of silver and has always looked fantastic. It's one of these pieces where the more time you spend with it the more there is to appreciate. I hear what you say about a tapering bracelet but for me that would not work so well. It's only 18mm lug width and if it tapered I feel it would leave the bracelet too skinny at it's thinnest and more of a woman's watch than a man''s. As it is, it works really well as a unisex watch. As for the clasp - as someone else said in a comment the half links are a touch longer than a full link so getting a GS to fit has never been a problem, and fortunately once I've gotten any watch bracelet to the right size I've never had to adjust it. I've got watches by Tudor and Rolex and two GS - and I far prefer the clasps on the GS as they are smaller and better looking and have a great release mechanism. If fine adjust in the clasp is something you need to make the bracelet work though I can fully appreciate it being an issue.
So great to have a Gringa video back after a long break. Fun, informative and no stupid drama... And Happy Birthday. That watch looks fantastic on you. Watch Papi stepped up.
Oh it’s so good to be BACK! 💕💕 I feel like I missed all this drama! 😂🙈 with my birthday I really wasn’t online so I missed it all! 😂🤷🏻♀️ but I tried catching up on it. Then I started realising… I’ve heard the word “gentleman” more than I’ve heard the word “movement”… so I lost interest! 😜
Hell yes. Love this. If I didn't already have an SBGW231, a Cartier Santos (medium), and a Tudor BB36, I might have jumped on it. With those three in my collection, there just isn't room for a SBGW289 right now. P.S. I have a 7.5" wrist and love the smaller wearing experience on all of these!
Grande Seiko represents some of the best value your dollar can buy! Hypnotic dials that keep you memorized throughout the day, hand polished case work and superior hand finished movements and furniture work on the dial. It’s truly a handmade product at a price point that leaves many haute horology brands quivering in their shoes. If this was a Swiss watch, it would sell for 3-5 tines their premium. But hey, more value for you and I; but now the secret is out! Nice work Gringa 🙏🏼⌚️
It's a beautiful piece. I think Grand Seiko really nails it with their subtle colors. Just a hint of blue, or pink, etc. etc. looks very classy. I don't have the energy to run out and try to snag limited edition models, but I do like it quite a bit.
I bought the SBGW285 in green. And that’s my first watch with dial hands ( Casio was my lord and savior all my life). I’m not a watch expert. But heck yeah, when it comes to the perfect marriage between beauty and simplicity ( with craftsmanship as a side chick or mistress) you don’t need to be a watch expert to get dazzled by these time pieces.
Love the review! I too tried it in the metal (not my allocated piece) when I was informed of my allocation yesterday, though it looks a tad cutesy on my 7.25 inch wrist, but the way the pink dial plays with light is just amazing, one moment it's pink another it's salmon or silver. Cannot wait to get mine later in the month!
As a male, I would have no trouble wearing a piece with a subtle pink hue. I believe it gives the watch both a casual edge, plus, a formal profile that would allow it to be complementary to dressing up. Thank you for this fine presentation.
I am a man and I have wanted a pinky watch for a while. Before my wife always refused to accept, but this watch broke her rule at the first sight. Few days later I will bring it home 😁
Great job on the edit WG! Love the watch! If I had Watch Papi’s money i’d definitely get one!!! It’s subtle pink! I still love the snowflake too much though! All the best!!!!
Oh Russell, thank you sooo much! I am trying so hard to work out my editing style and step up my game a bit.... STILL NOT A PATCH ON YOU! ;) But I'll keep trying!
Thank you for sharing time with your friend's watch, Brittany. It's beautiful. To me 36.5mm watch is ok on my 7.25" wrist IF it has good wrist presence, maybe helped by 20mm bracelet.
YOUUUUUU ARE KIDDDDDINNNNNGGGG!!!! THAT IS BIG MAN TINNNNNGS, ahhhhh!!!! TWINS TIME! That is so freaking amazing! And a very rare call to get! Biggest congrats EVER!
When I see watches like this, I face the fact that they really are everything I want. All the other brands? Well, OK,each to their own taste. GS embodies subtlety, unlike some brands that for some strange (and wholly inexplicable ) reason bring the words 'organised crime' to mind! lol . Forgive the rather basic summary; they are beautiful and tell me the time. (Cue comments from the haters!) Great video, especially that opening section. You do what so many people can't do. Make unboxing interesting! 😎
Ahhh this is sooo well said! Let the haters come! Because…. You perfectly described GS!!! Particularly subtlety & beauty. They are the watch choice of the true horology nerd!! 👏🏻💕 it might be time to add one to my life!
Oh nooo way! WHAT A WATCH!!! I’m sooo excited about the new King Seikos! I’ve seen a couple of watch youtubers talk about it! 😱 but I don’t know all that much about it. Seiko geeks seem to be disappointed by the movement tho!
@@BrittPearceWatches Thanks! It's cool to see them being brought back. Yeah, the vintage King Seiko's were known for having a hi beat 36000bph movement. The new ones have a 21600bph movement, so definitely disappointing that they didn't stay true in that regard.
They do seem to be embracing the idea of using names more these days with the White Birch, Green Birch, Snowflake etc. But i guess with the amount of models they have it's hard for the naming department to keep up with the designers. Keep the GS content coming!
I like a 'second hand sweep' on my watch dials ... it adds kinetic movement or energy to the face and reassures one that the watch does actually have a movement.
Another amazing vid, the quality of them is getting better and better! Did you see my message to you on your Tudor vid? Someone pretending to be you I think, tried to scam me. Might be worth checking it out and warning people.
@@BrittPearceWatches Yeah, i sent you a screenshot on insta. I almost fell for it. But when 'you' asked for $150 to ship my prize to Glasgow i freaked 🤣🤣🤣
YASSSS LADY!!! I THOUGHT THIS MIGHT BE THE ONE TO SWAY YOU TO THE GS DARK SIDE!😍🥳 It's a beauty of a watch. I'll have to do a comparison of mine and this one!👀 Killer video as always gorgeous lady!!!
I've just bought one, so i cannot wait for it to arrive. I thought i was going to buy a spring drive or another Tudor, but this feels just perfect. In the flesh it feels so light. The bracelet is perfect, if it was tapered it would look quite odd. The finishing on it has blown me away, definitely not a daily wear though as I would be worried about scratching it. I will definitely tho' now purchase more GS's when they do small runs of watches. (But not till I've bought a Gshock)
This is a really cool release, even if I'm not interested with my 7.25" wrist. 38-39mm wears on me like 36-ish does on smaller wristed people, so I get the desire for that size. I don't know why GS doesn't step up their bracelet game though. Surely this cannot be news to them. People have been talking about it for years. They have a new-ish CEO for the U.S. Maybe he can get them to change, or they'll just ignore any non-Japanese advice? I don't know, but they're on the cusp of greatness. That and a freaking 40-41mm diver is what they need. I'm not asking for miracles or great feats of engineering here. Gringa, thanks for being a breath of fresh air in the watch RU-vid world.
Kira Zuri pink, nice! Limited edition GS holds value. Nice size for a lady’s wrist. Not so expensive that you’ll be afraid to wear it. They usually don’t sell out so fast when the production number is over 1000.
Yes, yes, yeees 🤤! Finally GS keeping it tiny and slim. Now they need a wondeful sports watch and cool names and they'll be on business! Gracias Gringa! Hey, but what about pricing?
As always Gringa, your content is great fun! Also, I’m very glad you singled out the bracelet. How GS continues to put out subpar bracelets is just strange to me. There’s no way the leaders at Seiko and Grand Seiko are not aware of this issue and yet they continue to ignore it. 🤷🏽♂️ Still, I do love their watches. I have the GS #SGBW231 and it is stunning (and not disappointed that it doesn’t come on a bracelet). 😁
@@BrittPearceWatches I’m the same. Atm the only GS I would have bought is the SBGW231. Although they have a nice green and blue one now. All very nice. And the leather strap avoids the bracelet. Only problem is I know I wouldn’t wear a leather strap watch much. I prefer a nice bracelet. I went with the new mint green date-just 36. Next one is the silver OP36. Love the SBGW dials but overall I’d get better everyday use out of the DJ and OP and they can be smart or casual. If I needed a proper dress watch though I would get the SBGW231. The dial has a good vibe to it
Ha ha that opening was ever thing love the dial on this watch Love Grand Seiko I have held many yes this watch needs a fun funny name and I vote for Jigglypuff ha ha love it, sorry I'm late for the video as always great video.
It's a sophisticated bit of kit, only it's not quite perfect... nice but not exquisite. Excellent video as per usual, thank you. 👍👍👍😎 P.S. there's a telegram scam targeting your comment section. Maybe a pinned comment to warn the subs, it's not WhatsApp this time. 👍👍👍😎
Ahhh a very cool watch indeed! ❤️❤️ and thank you so much! Someone else flagged this up as well. I am so sorry! 🤦🏻♀️ these scammers are SOO ANNOYING! I think RU-vid is having a massive problem woth it!
nuanced, balanced, and reserved, very Japanese indeed. seemingly boring at first glance, but it actually embodies a Japanese watch down to the purest spirit.
"weird and distinctive" lol you're pretty much describing yourself. which is why we love you! I'd listen to you talk about fishing rods or whatever. your voice is that good
@@BrittPearceWatches aaahhh, I thinking that you can select generate subtitles, my apologies. Recognize that is most possible as you can buy this, suit as good as your wrist 😄😄😄
Another great video Gringa. Be careful with your candle placement. Especially if you don’t water that plant :) (an ex Firefighter worried about you ;))
Ohhh these are two TOP CHOICES! And so hard to choose between 😱 the Seamaster is obviously a fantastic watch! But I think a GS is kinda the cooler choice 😱❤️❤️❤️
4:05 I proudly carry the alpha male status GS owner with the larger Shunbun (arguably less pink than this 44GS LE) 🤣I am waiting on delivery for a dc'd SBGV243. Keep up the lighthearted and playful content, it paired well with this watch! 🍻
@@BrittPearceWatches It is a slippery slope, mi amiga. But well worth it. One of my GS has a 44GS case and it spends much time on my wrist because of how flat and comfy it is. BUT, I have it on an Erika's Original strap and not the bracelet. Make of that what you will...
Glad to see you showing Grand Seiko some love. They have some GMTs I really want. Watch Papi and I have the same size wrist, so now I will take particular interest in his wrist shots. How long until you share a video of your b-day present from Papi? What happened to the G-Shock livestream? It was airing while I was at work and it isn't public.
Whaaaat I thought it was up?!?! Let me investigate now! :) The GS's HAVE BEEN BOUGHT!!!! But I haven't been home in 2 weeks! 😢 So I need to go HOME AND GET MY NEW WATCHES!
This may be my next watch. The older I get the less and less I care for complications and I have grown to really not like date complications. 80% of the time their legibility sucks and 100% of the time they throw off the balance/look of the dial. This thing looks perfect. Can’t wait to see on in person.
Looks great. I do wonder if it would work with my 7.5 in wrist, but that said I have a Stowa Antea with a baby pink dial which at 39mm and it works just fine for me albeit because, like any good dress watch design, the bezel is quite fine and this creates the elusion of a hugh dial area even on smaller watches such as a 36mm.
Love the design but - having had a quartz model with the same 44GS case - the lug to lug is surprisingly long and flat. It was just a bit too big for my 17.5cm wrist, so I had to let it go (didn’t lose any money on it, which is a good indication of residuals). Lovely watches though - have my eye on a “Mist Flake”…😍
@@BrittPearceWatches i need a cartier watch in my life so kinda jealous! i have the cartier santos pen but thats not the same vibe lol! do have a ming 22.01 Kyoto on order though so fills that void a bit haha
I am so pleased that you don’t like second hands on dress watches. But I only think it comes with maturity in this hobby. Initially you just want to know the watch is alive, but later on you want to style.😂
This was me being quite reserved in my hatred for seconds hand on dress watches. ;) I could get into a horribly snobby rant on what a dress watch is meant to be..... BUT I HELD IT IN! ;)
Britt!! You should check out the SBGW277 and SBGW275 ;-) You want to see Green and blue/green done to a level of insanity?? Then these kill it with the light play! The pink is great, but the new green by GS and by Kurano are just on another plain of existence!
