This only applies to cantrips that have saving throws, not attack rolls. This doesn't do anything for a cantrip like firebolt. Acid splash, poison spray, vicious mockery, and sacred flame are the only cantrips in the game that benefit from this. Also, only the evocation subclass of wizard gets this. Other spellcasters and other subclasses do not get this. I'm also not a fan of casters due to spell slot limitations but there are some ways to get around it. My current playthrough is a tempest cleric that spams Call Lightning, a spell that you cast once and then can cast continuously for 10 turns without spending anymore spell slots. It basically allows you to get through an entire combat encounter by using only one 3rd level spell slot.

It's lowkey crazy how i caught up to your level in like six hours like damn side quests exists purely to get extra buffs and equipment.

im duo playthrough with my rogue level up faster too, mostly because i dont have much downtime between fights like i have to do with my wizard. you can get more done when your not in camp long sleeping after every battle

I’ve been doing a Gale origin playthrough and he lands fireball pretty often. My Bardlock playthrough I almost always used eldritch blasts unless I wanted big aoe damage, and even when I was threatened I often landed them. Also I love fireball to hit firewine barrels

Warlocks have the GOAT cantrip, Eldritch Blast. Evocation Wizards are great for the wizard utility and safer AoE spells, but if you want a spammable cantrip that will be great throughout the game, pick Warlock. Warlocks can also take special abilities called Invocations, and a couple of those directly buff Eldritch Blast (see Agonizing Blast and Repelling Blast). They can only cast 2 spells per short rest though, so that's 4 leveled spells per long rest (or 6 if you have a bard in the party) Edit: Oh and this level 6 feature is not actually that good. It only effects cantrips with saving throws, so for a wizard that means this only buffs Acid Splash and Poison Spray. Acid Splash does d6 damage which is not great, but its also a small AoE and Acid is a decent damage type. Poison Spray is... trash. d12 damage is good, but the range is only 3 meters/10 feet and Poison damage is the most common damage type resisted by enemies. Many will be outright immune to Poison Damage. Hope this helps

nobody wants to spam cantrips. id rather use actual magic but there's only a limited amount to those to go around, because of the spell slot system. but at least they are usable after level 6 i guess

@CoffeeThe My first playthrough was as an evoker and I went out of my way to fight on the Frontline and it is totally doable. There's a ton of gear in the game that can beef your Armor Class up without wearing armor, and a number of items that can buff cantrips. By the end of act 3 my cantrips were averaging around 40 damage, which made it so I almost always had spell slots to spare for big haymaker spells like fireball, chain lightning etc.

Just want to point out, that each short rest gives them their 2 spell slots back, and since they start with 2 after a long rest, it's actually 6 possible spell slots + 2 per Song of Rest. A minor point, but still important.

This guy sounds like he has absolutely no idea how games work, how d&d works, how wizards work. He has no clue whatsover. Just sounds like a lost child. He sounds like he thinks cantrips only exist for wizards....

i swear fans of dnd act like this is a complex system when its a simple one, a very flawed one in fact but the fans defense of the flaws never fails. there's many videos before this one you should watch those too

Your subclass gave you improved cantrips. Normally cantrips don't get guaranteed damage like that. Ans no it's not scuffed it's that you are the blaster wizard.

@CoffeeThe yes other wizards don't get that they get other stuff instead. Abjuration gets a ward that absorbs damage Conjuration gets teleporting and concentration is harder to break Divination can change dice rolls Evocation (what you chose) - gives damage. It shields your allies from your AOE damage, your cantrips do half damage guaranteed, later you get a little more damage on your evocation spells. Enchantment gets powers to control enemies and buff or debuff Two characters. Illusion let's you distract enemies. Necromancy - If you kill with a spell you heal and you summon better undead. Transmutation - you create double Alchemy crafting and you can make a transmuters stone you can give different properties. Honestly make a hireling this and transfer the items.

All cantrips get x2 dmg at lev 5 and x3 at lev 10 2.potent cantrips doesn't do anything for fire bolt because it doesn't use "difficulty class" it uses "attack roll" 3.acid splash, poison spray, vicious mockery sacred flame use potent cantrips .. 4.17 intelligence is an odd number increase it to 18 to get +4 instead of +3 in attack rolls (fire bolt should hit more often, you shouldn't use odd numbers like 13 dex) 5.karmic dice, did you turn it off in gameplay options ? should help with miss failure streaks
